Couldn't find a trailer for this. It's a TV movie, which would explain why. The only reason this movie interested me was because it started Anthony Michael Hall. The Breakfast Club is one of my favorite movies, and I'm really interested to see how AMH acts these days. The story sounds ok, but I'm just going to keep my expectations low.
I remember I saw the trailer for this movie and thought it looked pretty good. I love CG movies, and this looks like a type of movie that hasn't been done in CG yet. It seems pretty funny as well, so I look forward to watching this.
I also checked out a movie, well more of a documentary series, called When We Left Earth. It's all about NASA and the Space Program and chronicles what went right, went wrong and just about everything it took to get man into space. It's been a while since I've seen an interesting documentary series, and this one looks like it could fit the bill quite nicely.

I was thinking of starting to do a daily proverb, and then I remembered I used to do it all the time back when I kept a journal in a notebook. I found the notebook, so I'm going to write them here, and then will close with a new proverb.
What is the meaning of life? Find something you care about more than life itself.
Don't worry about death. Death means you lived. Worry about how well you lived.
Don't run form your fears. Make them run.
What is time? You'll waste it trying to find out.
If we are the masters of this world, why are we destroying it?
If you close your eyes on the past, you can't see the future.
We've all lost something we've gained. Rarely do we gain back what which we have lost.
Every little thing you do in your life could affect everything in someone else's.
Trust your instincts, unless something inside you tells you otherwise.
If you are a follower, you lead nothing.
Nothing is perfect. If your relationship is, most likely it's not.
If you are a hateful person, love will turn its back on you.
Peace is treasure. War is trash.
Fun is fun, unless it leads to more work.
If you wish for something, you want it too much. Work for it, and it will be ten times greater.
Be careful with what you throw away. You may need it later.
Be loud as you want so people can appreciate you more when you're quiet.
Be yourself. If you aren't, you're no one.
Care for yourself. If you don't, no one will care for you.
You hurt yourself when you others.
Know what you can do so you can do what you know.
Feed the positive. Starve the negative.
The faster you go, the harder you crash.
You have nothing to lose if you try to win. You have everything to lose if you are afraid to play.
Seek answers. If you do not, you will forever be asking questions.
Careful. It takes a lot more work to fix something than it does to break it.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. But what's it worth when there's nothing left to be cured?Heh... kinda sounds like I'm writing for fortune cookies, doesn't it?

Well, here's today's proverb.
It hurts looking back when you're moving on but once you've moved enough, you can't see what hurt you anymore.

Slacked again. Two polls this time.
Today's first nationwide poll:
"Are doors best left..."
Open
ClosedI'd say open because you should be approachable most of the time. Plus, it's nice to have some ventilation. I'm just gonna guess and say Open will win..
Today's second nationwide poll:
"You've caught yourself daydreaming. Are you thinking about something..."
Answers:
You've already done
You're planning to doI'd say if I'm daydreaming, it's about something that's just not gonna happen. I guess I'll vote for You're planning to do. Also going to predict that it will win.

I actually watched this the other day, and it was better than I thought it was. I wasn't really a fan of the art direction, and I hated the voice of the Twi'lek padawan, but the action was pretty entertaining, and the story was interesting. I think die hard Star Wars fans will enjoy this.
This is an older Jet Li film from 1994. I don't think I've ever seen this one. It's been a long long while since I've seen an old Jet Li film, so I'm looking forward to it.
This is actually a recommendation by Shamus Blackley. This movie has particular interest to me because I used to work in the credit card industry. I also enjoy the occassional documentary. It should be a pretty entertaining and educating film.
Ehh... what can I say. I'm just a sucker for animated films (except blatant carbon copies like Open Season and Barn Animals) and Dreamsworks usually puts out good CG animated films. Plus, I really do love Jack Black, and I think he'll make me laugh in this film.

But yeah, I don't make for a good leader, so I'd rather not particpate at all. Now, I know it takes a special person to lead, so I'm going to guess that most people would just not participat at all. We have nation wide results in for the first poll:

So I'm out and about in my town today when a neighbor of mine comes up to me saying she has a dab (fish for those who don't know what a dab is. She says to me she recalls that I was asking around for one, but I wasn't, or just never remembered, so I told her. Then she apologized and said she was confused and was thinking of someone else. "You humans all look alike."
THAT'S RACIST! I expect this kind of stereotyping from Rockstar, but not from NINTENDO! I'm writing them a letter today demanding an apology for this! Oh, and guess who said this, too? A sheep. That's right, a SHEEP! Not a cow, not a lemming... a SHEEP! I always knew Nintendo fanboys weren't right...*This is sarcasm. If you thought I was serious, you don't have the mental capacity to be on the Internet.

So I started Mirror's Edge on the 360 tonight. I'm not that far into it, just the second chapter, but I've already uttered a lot of things to myself. Here's a short list of what I've said so far that I can remember.
"Awesome!"
"Whoa."
"Holy crap!"
"Holy ****!"
"OH MY GOD!"
"Hm.... that didn't work."
"Neither did that."
"Or that."
"BOOT TO THE HEAD!"
"Ooooh, sniper rifle! Don't need it, though."
"Purrrrty.."
"Damn, missed it."
"Missed it again."
"And again..."
"Suicide is fun!"
"WEEEEEEEEEE!"
"Are you telling me I can dodge bullets?"
"Apparently not."
"Christ."
"Jesus Christ."
"Jesus H. Christ."
"I wonder what the H stands for...."Yeah, so like, you die a lot in Mirror's Edge. It's not really the game's fault, however. This is a game that pretty much grabs you by the collar, and slaps you in the face telling you how weak you've become playing all these other games that pretty much held your hand. It reminds of games I used to play back when they were hardcore and dying over and over again until you finally got it right was a standard gameplay feature. Thank goodness game developers still take risks, because I haven't had this much fun dying in a long time.

Figured a lot of people are going to be doing these kinds of blogs, so I might as well, too. I downloaded and installed the new update this morning, but didn't have time to start my avatar before I went to work, so I did earlier tonight. I spent a good bit of time making sure I was happy with his appearance. I wanted him to look as close to me as possible, and I think it turned out rather well.

Now what do I think about the rest of NXE? Still getting used to it, but I'm surprised how quickly I started liking the aesthetics. It really looks awesome on a widescreen HDTV, very clean and crisp. I have a little bit of an issue navigating, as I think there's too much clutter in some of the categories (panels i don't need to see). I will say this, though... I greatly lament the disappearance of my auto download feature...

Ok, so most of us have already heard about Sony crying about people making non-Sony related tribute levels in Little Big Planet and moderating them. Way to stifle creation, Sony.
Now, they're blocking their movies from being viewed on the 360 via NetFlix. Doesn't this seem... childish? "Since we can't get NetFlix, then none of them XBOX users can watch OUR MOVIES!" It really does seem that way to me. I guess Microsoft should making all their software incompatible on Sony laptops. Anyway, this describes Sony pretty well right about now.

Never heard of this movie, until Andi saw it herself, so I put it a request on it to watch it for myself. It stars George Lopez and Miguel Sandoval. It looks like it out to be a good movie.
Never heard of this movie either. I was browsing the movie list and read a bit about the movie, and saw that Cuba Gooding Jr. was in it, and I love him so I figured it would be worth a watch. It sounds like a good movie, so here's hoping.

This must have been a different movie than what I was thinking of. I thought this was a movie with stunning visuals, but it turned out to be a rather boring love story. I actually slept through some of it. It was all in Cantonese with English subtitles.
I didn't really like this movie at all. I thought it was very dull, boring, and just not as disturbing as the director would have liked. I dunno, there was just too much of the killers standing around doing nothing. I know it was based on a true story, but honestly... it didn't make for a very good movie at all.
I was supposed to have gotten this movie last week, so I could watch it during the weekend, but I'll probably watch it tonight or tomorrow. I love Steve Carrell and I loved the original television series. I'm hearing some pretty good things about this movie, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Gonna do nothing but 360 demo impressions again.
Banjo and Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
I actually never played a Banjo game before, so I can't compared this to the previous titles. The demo's a decent size. It starts off with a hub world, and gives you the first game world to play in. I'm not sure if there are other game worlds on the demo or not, because I stopped after the first one. It follows the basic post Mario 64 structure. Worlds are locked until you collect a certain number of puzzle pieces, or "jiggies" as they call them. You collect jiggies by completeling objectives, just like all those aforementioned Mario games. It would be a rather unimpresive game if it didn't have some sort of gimmick, and that gimmic is vehicle building. You'll find containers that hold parts for vehicles that you can make and use for various reasons, like racers to compete in raeces, and tanks for all out offensive attacks. The graphics are beautiful, brimming with color, but I don't necessarily care for the characters. I'm starting to dislike games that substitute voice acting for high-pitched jibberish. I was really hoping to be more impressed by this demo, but as it stands, there just isn't enough in it to make it anywhere near my top 10 games I want to buy.
Scene It: Box Office Smash
This is the very first Scene It game I've played. I think I might like to get this game some day because I'm a movie buff (not as big as I could be) and I think it would fun to play online. They have several ways of throwing questions at you such as showing a movie clip, a pixel animation, or showing still shots. I'm thinking a little more effort could have been put into the presentation, because it just seems a bit generic and lackluster.
Tomb Raider: Underworld
I haven't played a Tomb Raider game since Tomb Raider 2, which is funny because I have Tomb Raider Legend which I have yet to open.
Anyway, it's nice to see Lara back in full form. I'm rather impressed with the visuals. The level is full of lush greenery. The creeks shimmer under the sun, looks almost good enough to drink from. I also think it's pretty cool that you get to see Laura get dirty as you move along. I really do enjoy climbing structures. It's just the sense of approaching something monolithic form the base, and working your way up to top. It's one of my favorite gameplay mechanics of all time. I also love the combat, and think that self-replenishing ammo is a genious idea. Combat's pretty fun, and although it took a while to get used to, the way you pull off head shots is pretty awesome. My only real complaint is that I'm not totally digging the Lara's climbing animations. I think they're too jerky. Anyway, I think I want to get this game, but it will be a while before I do. So much to play...
Too Human
I'm ashamed that I've had this demo on my machine for this long, and just now got around to playing it. This game's been in development for so long that for a while it was considered vaporware. Now, this is a long demo. Took me more than an hour to get through it. What do I think of it? Reeks of cool. The design of the game, characters and worlds are terrific. The combat is quite unusually, though. Melee attacks are executed with the right stick, and I'm so used to using the right stick for moving the camera around. I love fighting with both guns and swords/hammers, so it is a lot of fun, not to mention executing special moves when you get surrounded. I love how everything's rooted in Norse mythology, and I really can see myself playing the whole game. I'll pick it up when it's cheap.

GTA IV is NOT deserving of a perfect 10. Sorry if this is old hat, but I just got back to the game last week, and I've spent a considerable amount of time with it. I just want to get one thing out of the way. I love this GTA more than any other GTA before it. I love the story, the characters, the missions, the reinvigorated Liberty City. I wasn't a big fan of the new driving mechanics, but I eventually got used to them. I really love the new cover and targeting systems. Makes gunplay much more enjoyable. It's a fantastic game, no doubt about.
But... a 10 it is not, and I'm being completely objective here, people, so if you want to challenge me, feel free. Now, let me tell you why it's not a 10. Techcnial problems. Lots of them. Stuttering frame rate. Colors going wonky and hues getting washed out (doesn't happen often). Targetting problems and cover problems. Glitches, such as calling for a cop car when you need one and no one shows. Phone call conversations disappearing for no good reason. Biggest problem I've experienced is game crashing freezes. I'm sorry, no matter how great a game is, if it has a technical issue that causes you to restart, it's not a 10.

I also didn't think too much about the multiplayer, but that's entirely subjective, so it doesn't really count. I just can't for the life of me figure out why on earth they can ignore so many issues and give this game a 10 when I've seen similar issues dock a good portion of the score fonother games. Were they just so overwhelmed by everything GTA IV presented them that they never saw them? Or did they just not care? Or did they pander to GS fans who were sick of seeing GS never give out 10s anymore, and were afraid of the upraising that would ensue with one of the most anticipated titles of the year not get a 10? Although I find the latter to be most unlikely, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it was true.
