PS3 First Impressions....Finally.
I remember buying a PlayStation with Metal Gear Solid and thinking 'why have I dodged this console for so long?' sure enough, I recently did the same thing with the PS3. I think after using the triggers of the Xbox 360, my experience for first person shooters became a bit more engaging. I couldn't go back. This week I have obsessively attached myself to the immersive world of Heavy Rain and charged my focus into the trenches of COD: Black Ops. I cannot express the sheer infatuation that propagated from my belated experience with the PS3.
First off, I have to project my absolute admiration for David Cage, Normand Corbeil and Quantic Dream. Heavy Rain is a masterpiece to say the least and funnily enough one of the first games that caused such a significant emotional reaction, just as much as I did when an MGS guard employed an immediate '!' above his head. It's a game that you can thoroughly engage with, the character development is fantastic. In all honesty I don't think I have ever seen such proficient directing in a video game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops. A non exclusive game but one I played during my first experience with a PS3. The game speaks volumes for next gen first person shooters and I cannot wait to grab a copy for myself. The insertion of the combat training is a typical fundamental of all the greatest shooters (with regards to a PVB mode). Somehow, Treyarch have made kills more satisfying then ever. I just can't stop playing.
After such a gratifying first time hands on it's needless to say, the PS3 does have flavor....and I can't get the taste out of my mouth.
