All About Legolas_Katarn

Welcome to my profile. I've been playing video games since I was three, pretty much nonstop, even though I rarely find a game that I really enjoy. I usually don't enjoy playing video games unless they have a good story or have co-op, although I have somehow still managed to get achievement crazy on my 360. I think some guys at Bungie said it best while describing playing CTF on Halo 2 and you are killed a second before scoring, you hate it but you also love it and when it's over you want to do it again. The only difference is that now, I want to do it again and again and again to get those damn achievements. I seem to be the same way with the emblems on Gamespot.

"360 fanboys are ignorant
PC fanboys are arrogant
Wii fanboys have a creepy personality
PS3 fanboys are the most vocal" Destructoid

"One of the surest signs of true maturity, and one of the first requirements for profound contentedness in life, is reaching the state where you no longer care whether or not what you're doing in private is mature." GabuEx

Upcoming games that I might/will buy. I probably will not get all of them, me adding them here just means that I am interested in the game, but not so much so that I will buy it even if it is getting bad reviews everywhere. Ones with extras or special editions come first if I don't have enough money. Text in ( ) is to remind me where I preordered it or if I still need to

Bought some movies and what I got for Christmas

I went to a pawn shop yesterday and bought a few movies

    007 Tomorrow Never Dies: $4

Ok, this and Goldeneye are better than the last two Brosnan movies

    007 Quantum of Solace: $4

Easily one of my least favorite Bond movies. This is the first time I have seen this one. Horrible camera work during the action and this is the first time I skipped the opening theme song during a 007 movie, hell I even listened to Madonna in Die Another Day (my second worst Bond movie).

This brings my total up to 13 of the 007 films and now that I got all the crap out of the way (all the Brosnan and Craig movies) I can get back to getting the other great to good ones (with the exception of Moore's last which was my least favorite if I remember right). I think I have four more Connery ones and five more Moore ones, and On His Majesty's Secret Service.

    Punisher War Zone: $4

Another Marvel movie to add to the collection. He punishes a lot of people and he does it with a much better camera angle than Daniel Craig. I enjoyed it

Batman Mystery of the Batwoman: $4

My third animated Batman movie, making for the fifth one that I own. I haven't watched it yet but I liked Mask of the Phantasm more than The Dark Night.

    Stargate Atlantis Season 3: $19

This one I bought at Wal-Mart last week. I have the first three seasons now.

    Die Hard Collection: $10

Also bought at Wal-Mart last week. Has the first three movies. I love the first one, thought the third was ok, and I had never seen the second. I liked the second more than the third. Have all four now.

    Christmas Gifts

Food, lots of meat, cheese, bottle of red creame soda, and hot sauce.

A blanket with a wolf on it, I like wolves

A blue mini flashlight for my car with a tripod

    Kingdom of Heaven Directors Cut

I have the original movie but wanted to get the directors cut, which from what I've heard brings the movie from good to great. Seems to cost a lot usually but my mom bought it for me for $11 at the same pawn shop I went to. Haven't watched it yet.

A 1600 point MS Point Card

    Shadow Complex: 800 Points

Since it is on sale this week I decided to pick it up. It won't be the next Castlevania SoTN but it should be worth $10. I still have about 1800 points so I should be able to take care of at least three of the DLCs I want in the next three month (one for Left 4 Dead 2, two for RE5, and two for Assassins Creed 2).

$20 gift card for Hollywood video. Should rent 3-4 games. Just in time since I used my last free rental last week.

A coat. I don't really wear coats. It started raining/snowing at work yesterday and we all had to go bring all the carts in from outside. My friend and I are always fine in our short sleeve shirts and pants. It actually seemed warmer than most days. I haven't seen the snow in at least six years.

A razor. I just use my electric one, I don't know why they got me this.

I got this figure from the game Perfect World from Jody. It was one of the things Jody was giving away on her blog. I also got two inflatable Dragons Age swords.

    Edit

110 Score and 110 Streak on the 360 Snowball throwing mini game. Go to the last spotlight to play the game and get my avatar back, if you are on my friends list I got yours.

    Edit

I forgot, I also got a George Foreman grill. I had a small one that could make one burger at a time, this one can make three, has bun warmers, and you can take the grills out so it is easier to clean.

I hate Killzone 2 SP (added, but the Multiplayer is much better)

I rented the game yesterday with my last free rental cupon and, single player wise, I think it is my least favorite game that I have played this year.I still need to try the multiplater though

    The Bad

The enemies suck (all two of them)

Your allies are almost as useless as they are in ODST (the unnamed soldiers at least)

The weapons suck (except the sniper, which is ok) and they aren't fun to shoot. If you compare the gameplay to something like the Call of Duty series with great control and shooting or with a more tactical game where ever kill has to be earned it just isn't fun shooting enemies in this game.

The game is too damn dark even though I set the brightness as high as it could go (WTF is wrong with developers, I love you Valkyria Chronicles)

Why is it that games with crappy stories and characters that no one cares about (this, Lost Planet, other games I forgot possibly while still playing them) always have long dramatic character deaths or scenes dealing with it

The dialogue consists of What the/...this/...you (just add **** to the appropriate part) and unfunny gay jokes

    Horrible "boss" fights

    Dumbest troop transport design ever

Short (I beat it in around five hours)

The knife is the best weapon in the game and due to the poor way you move and aim it is also the most accurate (on easy and normal difficulties at least). Enemy has a shotgun, run up and knife him. Enemy has a missile launcher, run up and kinfe him. Enemy has a flamethrower, run up and knife him. Enemy far away on a mounted gun, run up and knife him. Surrounded, knife everyone. For some reason half the enemies seem to ignore you when you have the knife out, it's like it puts you in some stealth mode without actually doing anything.

Worst cover system EVER (you know how before cover systems where you could duck and it was annoying that your guy could not duck low enough to conceal himself, well this game has a cover system and your guy is still to stupid to do that making the cover button more pointless than the crouch button that it overrides)

Why the **** is there no threat indicator? This means two things, if I am getting shot at I have no idea where it is coming from. If there is one enemy in a big area I have to clear he is very hard to find.

The game has to load mid level every now and then, it doesn't tell you it is doing this so for about 10 seconds or more you are sitting there wander if the game is loading or if it froze. Many checkpoints are also given to you right before areas where the game needs to load, if you keep dying expect to wait over and over again.

Dialogue messes up every now and then, making character repeat words over and over (not that you will care because the dialogue sucks)

Half the characters you will want to see killed, the other half you won't care about. Only the half you want to see die will live.

There was at least four times in the game where I had no idea where to go. Everytime I was in the right spot I just had to wait at least two minutes for the game to realize I was in the right spot and to move my allies to where they were supposed to go.

Ends on a cliffhanger (the bad Assassins Creed kind)

    The Good

The opening cinematic (that guy needed to be in the game more)

Character animations (I love games where things react to being shot, of course, I love it more when things just die when you shoot them)

    The sniper rifle doesn't suck

    The jumping (really it's great)

If I could see anything the graphics might be good

Setting enemies on fire...or watching your allies on fire (guess they are good for something)

Multiplayer is probably the best Competitive FPS of the year

    The sound is great
