The Twilight Ramblings of "The Brothers In Crime"
This is where WE like to sit and rant about video game related stuff. Okay, so it's not all video game related stuff, but still....

Release day is here and the news is.....good, very good. The story mode is good, a little short but you can go through over and over again with other squad mates, so it's got some replayability. The versus mode is where this game shines actually, as hard as it is to believe. It's like playing team death match while also avoiding swarms of zombies, lickers, and hunters, very fun.
Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 8/10
Replay Value: 9/10
Controls: 7/10

What a complete gimmick, these motion controls....Playstation move, Kinect....let the Wii have its one thing that makes it different. I've seen the launch games for these controls and they all look exactly the same and all seem really dumb to me, how many times can we really do bowling...or boxing, or volleyball. These controls do not belong on anything BUT the Wii, it can have the family friendly boxing games and the cart racing, you know why? Cause it works!!!! And thats what people expect from Nintendo, i expect a lot better things from Sony and especially Microsoft, what a joke.

I haven't had this much fun playing a game since i started playing PORTAL. Seriously, it's one of those laugh out loud games. Don't get me wrong, i would never vote for this game for game of the year, but you have to understand what you're getting into when you buy it. It's not meant to be taken seriously, all the game does is make fun of the last 25 years of gaming...they've got a space marine called "master chef", a pseudo super mario, and a whole load of other references...Gears, Doom, SOCOM, Wolfenstein 3d, and there's even a boss straight out of a JRPG....not to mention its SOOOOO easy to rack up acheivement points that its not even hard, have fun guys...check it out!!!!!

SO there's been a lot of demos that have come out in the last couple of weeks...most notibly in my book is RE5 and Halo Wars...i'm gonna start with RE5 because i'm a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of the series...i'm not a big fan of the whole "stand still while you shoot" thing, but somehow it seems to work, but i'm still not sure about the story though...still love the demo...
The Halo wars demo was amazing...normally i'm not big into RTS kinds of games, but once i played kingdom for keflings on XBLA i figured "hey, maybe these aren't so bad" so i tried out this demo. AND I LOVED IT!!!!! It's kind of short, but it gets right to the point, and what a point it is!!!
If you haven't tried either of these demos yet....whats wrong with you? Go out and try em!!!!

XPlay on G4 did their game of the year episode the other night, GOTY was the last award given, they did numerous awards throughout the show as well and most i agreed with. But when they got to the "Game Of The Year" i heard the winner and i was left with a bad taste in my mouth...Fable 2...really? WTF i mean don't get me wrong i thought it was a great game, amazing even...but GOTY? Normally with my games I invest TONS of time into them...like fallout 3 right now i'm not even half done and i've put in just over 50 hours...i think in fable 2 i put about 20 hours into it and was literally bored, there was just nothing more to do IMO yes i did the side quests and completed the main quest, capped out 5 stars in all the jobs (which took forever btw) i think the only thing i couldn't bring myself to do was hunt down all 50 gargoyles, i found 32 "by accident" but didn't really care to find the rest...
Once again let me reiterate Fable 2 was a great game, but it just didn't have much in the way of replayability...sigh...and i had such high hopes for it

12Dec 08So there's a line drawn down the middle of the crowd about this game (FALLOUT 3)...whether or not it's "oblivion with guns"...you either think so or you don't...and I DO..but thats not a problem because I LOVED OBLIVION, thought it was the best game ever made...until now...Its not the fact that it just has guns though. The controls are virtually the same, mechanics are mostly the same (with the exception of the V.A.T.S system). Now don't get me wrong here i'm not saying that this is a bad thing because you know what the old saying is "don't fix whats not broken" thanks bethesda, you ROCK!!!

14Jul 08So i was sitting and watching the live E3 event this morning for the microsoft coverage and was super excited about a bunch of the new games, i loved all the demos (particularly RE5) and the new "primetime" feature. The only thing i was not excited about was the avatars...for those who didn't see, the avatars are the 360 equivalant to the your nintendo Mii for the Wii...its a little cartoony version of yourself. I actually booed at my computer when i saw this...in my opinion microsoft took that in the wrong direction. Let Nintendo do the kiddy stuff, leave the 360 to the more adult stuff (sorry younger gamers, no offense intended because i was one once too). I play the 360 for stuff like gears of war, halo 3, etc...the last thing i want to do is play these games with a nice little cartoon image of myself...how dumb does that sound...thanks microsoft

17May 08So i've been playing GTA4 a lot lately and i got to thinking..."man i love free roam games, they're so much fun". I love being able to go anywhere and do what i want to do, when i want to do it. Then i got all nostalgic and starting thinking about my favorite free roam time which was MAFIA for PC. The police in that game were great, it was so fun and so realistic. If you ran a red light, the cops would be on you, if you sped the cops would be on you, it was crazy!!!! But i know i know there are some people who will read this and go "but why? Why would you want a game that was that realistic?" and to be perfectly honest...i don't know...just like it lol

12Oct 07Half life 2 came out for the 360 earlier this week. It's called "The orange box" and comes with 5 games total...Half life 2, episode one, episode two, team fortress 2, and portal. Portal is probably the MOST FUN i've had playing a game in a long time...it's a first person puzzle game. The whole concept is humerous, the way the computer in the game talks to you is great, and the credits have a song that will make you roll on the floor you'll laugh so hard. If anyone out there hasn't checked this out yet, i STRONGLY urge you to. good times good times...i haven't laughed this hard since i played psychonauts for the original xbox -Mike

22Aug 07So i've decided that game designers are trying to make us all afraid of little girls and they have done this in a few games now where they portray little girls as really creepy "bad guys". The first one i can think of off the top of my head is Emma from F.E.A.R. Ya know, the scary "ghost" girl that kept jumping out of dark corners and scaring the crap out of you. And now, with Bioshock out we all have to deal with the little sisters....is there anything creepier than a little girl stabbing somebody in the head with a hypodermic needle while singing a creepy nursery rhyme? I'm trying to think of some more, so if you guys and gals think of one leave it below..

For anyone who hasn't seen the trailer, it takes place in a 3rd world country where (needless to say) the population is majority african american. Like in Resident Evil 4 there are no "zombies" only crazy people...Now in Resident Evil 5 you play as Chris Redfield running around the streets of this shanty town taking care of business and killing all the african american townsfolk. There's been a lot of debate online about this whole story line being racist...here's my point of view...ready?
It's a freaking game people...let's all try to not take things so seriously...

26Jun 07I sat down the other night and looked at all of the games i've played for the 360 and was wondering where i could pick up a few extra gamerscore points. I realized while i was looking at the scores that 75% of all the points i'm missing are all from online multiplayer play. The few games i've got MOST of the points for are all "mostly singleplayer" games and have really no multiplayer aspect...like Oblivion. I worked my butt off to get all of the points for that game because I was the only one who had a say in it. When it gets down to the nitty gritty of all of the online points it's so tough...because everything has to work out JUST right....it's so tricky to get all of the points that you need. Don't get me wrong here, i love playing online games, but i just love playing them my own way, not a certain way to get the extra 10 points. I wish that designers would make the majority of the gamerscore points part of the single player game and just have a certain number of points set aside for online play. That's just my opinion though....i could be wrong, right?
