What's your favorite game of all time? What's your worst game you have ever played?

My favorite game of all time? Funny enough they're some of the older games. Like "California Games"for the Sega Master system. Then there's shooters: Quake 2. Awesome multiplayer fun. The same goes for unreal tournament 2004 (I know, there's UT3 now, but my system can't run it). RTS, I'd have to say Starcraft and Red Alert 2.

Worst game? "Taxi 3" for PC. WORST PORT EVER

Ah, the eternal question! I would have to say that it's probably to get to the other side.

If a tree falls in the woods and noone is around, does it make a sound?

What's "sound"? We know sound is produced by vibrations in the air. If a tree falls in the woods, those vibrations occur, whether those vibrations are received by an "ear" or not. I suppose that if sound was only sound at the point of receiving, then there would only be no sound if there was nobody or nothing around to hear it. There always is though, so there's sound.

What is the meaning of life?

This was probably the most important question anyone can ever ask. Whether you ask a person, or yourself, it is the same. What is the meaning of life, what's the purpose of me being here on this planet?

Many questions are related to this. Like, "Is there anything after this life?". The reason I mention this is because it is imperative to see our life in the great scheme of things in order to understand the purpose of life itself. If life on this earth would be limited to this limited time, then I would greatly doubt there'd be much purpose beyond continuing our species.

Now the next part I'm simply going to write, without all the "I believe's". It's pretty obvious, because otherwise I wouldn't write it . Now then, to save myself from having to type too much, I'm going to copypaste a little bit here from the website mormon.org. If you want the full thing, you can read it all there under "plan of salvation".

"In the scriptures God's plan is called the plan of salvation, the plan of redemption, the plan of happiness. The plan is centered on the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement. God has a plan for the happiness of His children: the plan of salvation, which is centered on the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Before you began your life on Earth, you lived with your Heavenly Father as one of His spirit children. Although it was a joyful existence, God knew that you could not continue to progress unless you left Him for a time. He allowed you to come to Earth, where you would gain a physical body and would have experiences that would help you to learn and grow, fulfilling the purpose of the plan of salvation: to help you become more like your Heavenly Father.

According to the plan, you could not continue to progress continually without the opportunity to enter mortality and receive a physical body. Here on earth you would have experiences that would help you learn and grow, and you would be proven to see if [you would] do all things whatsoever the Lord would command ( Abraham 3:25). The purpose of the plan is to help you become more like your Heavenly Father. The fact that you are living on Earth means that you accepted Heavenly Father's plan and came here wanting to do all you could to receive all He has to offer.

Knowing that we would commit sin in mortality, your loving Heavenly Father provided a Savior, Jesus Christ, who by His sacrifice would make it possible for all people who would comply with His gospel teachings to be forgiven through repentance and return to live with Him. Having a divine nature as a child of God, you can with the assistance and power of Christ, progress to become one day even as He is."

So in a nutschell, our purpose here on earth right now is to get a physical body, learn, grow, and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Again, most questions are answered on the website http://www.mormon.org/. That website is kind of a short version of all our teachings. It's also an official website. I'm more then willing to answer more questions though, if anybody has them.

Do you like Star Wars?

Yes, but I'm no star wars nerd. I only saw my first starwars movie (completely) a few months ago. But then I did watch all of them at the same time, from episode one to six. I think the fights in episode 1-3 are much better then the ones in episode 4-6. Sure, special effects were not as big as they are now, but that's no excuse for having really lame fights.

Did you vote for that extremist party that should be in power in Belgium?

No I didn't. It's sad though that they are the only party that stands for some of the things (conservative) I stand for.

Does your wife play video games?

Yes she does. However ... she mainly plays online flash games. She has expressed the desire for us to get a Wii, but right now our budget doesn't allow for it. We just bought a new car, so ... something's gotta give. (I'll be making a blog later on my new ride later)

This one is a touchy question, based on my knowledge that you are very religious. To clarify my intent, I am not religious, I'm just curious. What do you think of others who believe in a different god(s) than you?

I can sum that up quite easily: We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. (article of faith 11)

I honestly couldn't tell you. I can't think of anything crazy enough for it to be worth mentioning.

What are your views on the practice of polygamy?

My views are the same as my religions. First off, let me clarify something. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does not at this time practice polygamy. Any person that does is excommunicated. There are people that call themselves mormons and practice polygamy, but they are not members of our church.

Now then, my views. I think that if seen in the right spirit, that it is a good thing. Now then, what's the right spirit? Let's look back in history. In the old testament we read that Abraham and Moses had more then one wife, and they were the Lord's prophets, so we must assume that at that time, polygamy was a good thing. Later on we find that the practice of polygamy is discontinued. So where the change? The rule of thumb is found in the book of Mormon, another book book of scripture that testifies of Jesus Christ. Writen by people in the ancient americas between 600 BC and 420 AD. One of the prophets, called Jacob, wrote the following, which might clarify it more:

Jacob 2:27-30
27 Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none;
28 For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.
29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes.
30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things.

Polygamy was practised by some of the members of the church, in the 1800s. However, very few people actually did and could. You see, you had to be able to support someone before you could marry them. You had to treat them equally as well. If 5% of all male members of the church ever practiced polygamy, it'll have been a lot.

I personally would have a hard time having more then one wife, and have no desire to do so.

This article is an adaptation of my share in a debate held at MWSU.

If the object of elections is to hear the voice of the people on a certain matter, and then act accordingly, you need everybody's opinion. If you don't have everybody's opinion, people with extreme intentions will have a chance at governing you. It almost happened in France. Which is a country where people that are to lazy to vote can choose not to. What happened was that the extreme right party got all of it's supporters to go vote for them. They were numerous. I don't know the exact figure (I don't have the time to go look it up), but they were numerous enough to rock the balance. You see, very few people turned out to vote. But not from this party. No sir. The french were lucky that there was more then one round of voting, or they would have been governed by an extreme right party.

This is an example of why we need compulsory voting. The result, or better yet consequences, of not everybody voting could prove disastrous. To give an example:
You go out to vote. You're opinion is that foreigners should be allowed to stay in the country. After all, you're married to one. So you vote for the people that share your opinion. Other people share your opinion too, but they don't feel like voting.
The results are in. Turns out more people with the opinion to expedite foreigners went to vote for those people that want to expedite foreigners then people that share your opinion did for the people you voted for. The result? You're loved one gets deported, because a bunch of people were too lazy to vote.

That's right, too lazy. Because let's face it. The majority of people that don't vote are not made up of people that don't do so out of religious reasons or any other concious decision.

Some might argue that some people do not wish to vote out of religious reasons. For people like that, and people that simply don't care, we have an option here in Belgium. You vote blank. You have to vote, but you can opt to vote blank. Problem solved.

But gettting back to the example I gave. Voting needs to be compulsory to protect people. When thinking about voting and whether or not it should be compulsory, many would look at the US system, which reasonably only gives you two choices: democrats or republicans. I would like to point out that they are NOT the only country in the world. Let's take Belgium as an example. Belgium has many political parties. To get anything through, they need to have a majority of the seats in the chamber and the senate. How many seats a party gets appionted is determined by the elections. The percentages. In order for them to be able to pass laws and such, they need to form a government that has enough seats. A party has never been able to do so on their own. They always need to form coalitions with other parties (at least one). Which means that no extreme party will ever be able to do something that will allow a certain group of people to get hurt.

And that's what I mean when I say it protects people. If extreme right parties had enough votes, because they had a bigger turnout at the voter's box, they'd be able to run the place. And nobody could stop them without destroying the constitution, and thereby the democracy. THAT's what's wrong with being given the option NOT to go vote. If not everybody votes, the chance is created for a situation to arise where the actual majority of the people will say: Hang on a minute, we don't want this or that to happen. We're going to protest, we're not obeying this government. The result would be anarchy, and democracy would be ruined.

To make sure that never happens, everybody needs to vote. Because if everybody voted, and you still get a majority (in Belgium determined to be 2/3rds), enough people would agree with it because hey, that's what they voted for, right? The chance of that ever happening is very small. The chances of a majority deciding to harm a select group of people, is FAR slimmer then the chance of the wrong people coming into power, because they had a bigger turnout.

In conclusion I'd like to say that we need compulsory voting because the possible negative effects of the opposite far outweigh a bunch of people being inconvenienced. Let's not forget: The only thing necessary for evil to win, is for good to do nothing.

Well, I got late to church this morning. My dad calls me, right when church starts, asking me if I remember it's day light savings time. Great dad, thank's for the timely reminder.

The funny thing is that I saw loads of people yesterday, and NOBODY reminded me about it. I never quite understood why we need it. There are countries out there where they don't even know what we're talking about.

Life in general has become ever more controlled by this human invention called time. I hate it. Mainly because I hate being late, and I hate that all the good shows on tv are on that late. Cause then you stay up late, but you don't get to compensate in the morning, so you're tired all the time.

In short, I think that here in the West we put WAY to much pressure on ourselves. Everything HAS to fit into a certain schedule, or the world as we know it will come to a halt. The thing is that we've gotten accustomed to the benifits of it, but often choose to ignore the effect it is having on our health. Today there are so many stress-related issues. Makes me want to migrate somewhere and keep sheep or something. A farming job, where you live by nature's rythm.

Which reminds me of a different point. Radiation and waves. In our world today, there are so many things floating in the air. You know, transmissions of all kinds. Even the keyboard you're using is making you subject to radiation. Everything that uses electricity.
I'd love to take a technology free vacation. On an island somewhere. The only thing there would be a satelite phone that only gets turned on in case of an emergency. Sure there can be technology, but nothing that uses electricity. I think I'd feel so much healthier.
