GBA - Pokemon Yellow
So I got my Sega Genesis back in '93. 16 years later I have accumulated an original Nintendo, SNES, GBA, Sega Dreamcast, Xbox, Xbox 360 and a Wii. While my 360 currently gets the most use on my TV the system that is almost always in my hand is my GBA with what game? None other than Pokemon Yellow. Yes folks. This game came out 10 years ago and I am still playing it. I've beaten it countless times, collected the pokemon numerous times and spent an ungodly number of hours leveling.
With all the games and systems I have it's funny how i revert back to my GBA. It will be a sad day indeed if this thing dies on me. A very sad day.

Gamer Bias
*Stepping onto soapbox.* This is something that has bothered me for a very long time. AHEM!...
Gamer bias has been around for years. There has always been multiple systems for people to choose. PC or console. Nintendo or Sega. Sony or Microsoft. However, the older i get, the more bias i notice from all sides. It is actually a very bothersome thing. I am an advocate of people having open minds and questioning for themselves. I think the more people question and the more open-minded folks are about different and new things, the better off the world will be. I am seeing that less and less with the gaming community.
As time goes on i see more and more people bashing one another over their favorite system and why it's better. I have thought about this for a while and i realized, it's not the product or the company. It's the fan base that turns me away. I have a hard time associating with people that are so blindly brand loyal. This holds true for many things with me. Now you are probably saying that that isn't very open-minded, and in some ways it's not, however there is no reasoning or logic for blind loyalists. Loyalists who will follow a company to the ends of the earth, defending everything that company does every step of the way. We all know them as Fanboys. There is no reasoning for Fanboys logic. While reading many posts and forums lately i have noticed one group of Fanboys in particular are worse than others. These would be Sony Fanboys.
I like Sony a lot. I think they are a wonderful company who have contributed so much to the gaming community. I am grateful for them and for all they have done. I truely dispise it's hardcore fanbase. These are people who take everything Sony says and treat it as a sacred cow. In fact there are so many fanboys of Sony willing to do this that it saddens me. The most recent example is with the new Dualshock Controller. I noticed tons upon tons of fanboys ranting and raving over how good the new controller is. Add in a couple Microsoft and Nintendo boys, which is inevitable, and you've got yourself a flamefest. However, going through the comments i noticed only a handful of comments coming from MS and Nintendo Fanboys. The rest being Sony Fans. With this i also noted the Sony fans complaining about how it's a Sony section. Others shouldn't post, there's too many fanboys of other places on, leave us alone... etc. etc.
Yet, if you go to any other area for MS or Nintendo, you get Sony Fanboys bashing the others and rediculing everyone. It's rather juvenille and this fanbase is why i will not own a PS3, PS2 or PS1. Am i missing out? Yes i am. However, i will not support a bunch of whiny children who have nothing better to do than make other peoples lives miserable. In fact, seeing so many fanboys on the controller article, i HAD to make a comment about the controller being essentially an expensive PS2 controller. Immidiately people were jumping on, which i expected. However, it only proved my point of the blind loyalists. Sony to them is a sacred cow. This saddens me to see so many fanboys blindly dedicated to one company. Why? Blind loyalty kills new ideas. It creates isolationism and does not force a company to innovate. I like Sony, but lately their offerings have been poor. I don't like everything Microsoft does, however they created a new system, controller (similar, but it looks different and fits so much better), etc. Nintendo took the most innovative route, went against all odds and is leading the way in new ideas. Why? Because they messed up on the last go round and are now taking a huge chance on this go round. Microsoft is too in a way, although not like Ninetndo. Sony is not. At all.
I wish they would. I also wish their fanboys would see this and question their company. Maybe then Sony would become truely innovative like they once were.
*Stepping off soap box*
Thank you.
