  A Nexeus Special Report part 1: How Awesome is...

  Nintendo... They started it all. They've sold the most, done the best, won the awards, gotten the credit, started the genres, redefined the industry. Yep Nintendos pretty awesome right? Right?
  
  Well lets consider Mario. Highest selling franchise in the whole biz, and all in all not a bad group of games. The sports games are fun enough, granted some more then others, but generally a good play. Party games, Rpgs, Action, Murder Mystery... Ok maybe not that, but Marios pretty much done it all well.
  
  Now lets not forget pokemon, Zelda, Metroid, Smash, and all the other great Nintendo titles...
  (mario, smash, zelda, metroid, pokemon...) Yeah that pretty much covers everything.
  
  But thats awesome right? A great game every 2 years? About 5 games per console?
  
  No its not awesome. Sure those games are amazing in and of themselves, but the company behind them has fallen fom its place in our hearts. They now reside in something kinda like a casino. Filled with old people and buffets.
  
  Nintendo flat out dosnt care about us. And when I say us I mean teh hardcorz. Sorry but the people who play wii fit twice a week or wii sports once ina while dont get to be part of this.
  
  I understand Nintendos just being a buisness. Expanding the market and quite frankly kicking it in the mouth. Nintendo makes so much money its insane. But I dont care about that, and why should I? I dont work for Nintendo, I dont have sweet Nintendo stock, and they have yet to return this good fortune to us. Us, teh hardcorz, who stood by them throughout all the nonsense and failings.
  
  Sure wii fits a hoot. Sure wii sports and wario ware are fun. But what gamers gonna go nuts over that kinda stuff? I mean hey, Im not gonna dog someone for what they dig playing, but seriously? Nintendo already spent its load on us. The rest of the wii's library is just the same nonsense for another couple years. Its comeplete nonsense that they can get away with this.
  
  The same company that gave us the SNES (arguably the greatest system of all time) is now looked at as nothing more then a wicked evil little demon that just wants old peoples life savings. Its sad really. No gamer I know even cares about the wii. My friend Maida loves smash over any other game easily hands down. And he has his smash but what does he play it with? A wii mote? ahahaha no. He plays it with a smash controller (GC controller for people who suck). I do the same thing with my Smash and even with Mario Kart. The wii's two higest selling games are best played on last generations controller. Wich means they couldve been GC games and been just as good. Sad.
  
  Now I say all this about the wii and yet I havnt mentioned the DS, why is that? Its simple, the DS is amazing. Its the one thing Nintendo consistently does right. Way better 3rd party support then the wii but the handhelds have always had that over the consoles. Sure not every game uses the touchscreen 100% but who cares? Most of the games are fun with or without it.
  
  But is it enough? I dont know anymore. I try to love Nintendo so much because of all the good times Ive had in the past. And I couldnt live without my DS. But the wii just angers me so much. And once again I understand it all, the buisness, I just wish we could benefit as gamers from all this.
  
  Final Judgement? Is Nintendo awesome? I have to go witha big fat no... The DS is awesome but its awesomeness is fought by the wii step for step. Maybe the wii wont suck forever but I doubt it. Sorry Nintendo but your not awesome...

  The undisputed king of hack and slash... HAS BEEN DEAD FOR YEARS!!!!

  Diablo...
  
  Its been like a billion years since we last stormed the deepest reaches of the underworld in fear of what might be around the next coner. A epic mob? A boss? A cheap death? For even the slightest of errors could prove fatal and hours of gaming could be lost. (ps, real players played hardcore).
  
  But did we cower? Did we run and take cover in some safe place? To feast on marshmellow patay and sugar cookie cakes? NO!!! We pressed on through the very fires of hell. And why>?
  
  Epic Loot...
  
  But alas, the days of mindless hacking and slashing for shiny armor and weapons has passed. Sure there have been others, but none have reached the pinnacle that is Diablo. The Lord of Terror is gone, his throne, left empty...
  
  Now I understand Blizzard has been busy. WoW and Starcraft 2 arnt just gonna make themselves now are they? But now with this whole merger thing youd think maybe they could find the time to MAKE A NEW DIABLO!!!! YOU KNOW WE WANT IT, YOU KNOW WE WILL BUY IT.... MAKE THE GAME!!!! NOW!!!!

  Stupid Commercial Nonsense...

  I understand that games are becoming the worlds new favorite pastime. Since the dawn of the gaming age, games have continued to gain notice and acceptance among the masses. What was once considered a joy almost exclusively to nerds is now enjoyed by everyone.
  
  Now we Americans are all about everyone doing something. Why? Because when everyone does something we make more money off it. Money is good.
  
  Video games here in the States have never really had a huge TV commercial push. Sure some huge titles and a few tiny ones get spots but that's about it. And through the years they've done their jobs quite well. A few shots here, maybe a silly gimmick or two. Whatever. It gets the general idea across. Not every game commercial can have a kid power-sliding in an alley (AWESOME Japanese game commercial btw).
  
  But Nintendo, in all their glory and grandeur, seems to not understand anything about anything. Instead of a commercial showing some crazy nonsense on the wii we get fake people looking at a camera pretending to play games...
  
  Why?
  
  Imagine if you will a fake actor person. Pretending to play Mario Galaxy. Big fake smiles and stupid hand gestures all around. Maybe show like 2 quick shots of actual gameplay. Sounds like a typical Wii Commercial right?
  
  Now imagine same commercial. But halfway through it the gravity flips and the people are now on the ceiling. How awesome would that be? I mean sure, its not some crazy Superbowl commercial with ILM doing special effects. But its cooler then what we have right now.
  
  Imagine a old lady, playing a game with her grandson. Fake smiles and bs all around. Then suddenly the grandma changes into a morph ball.
  
  See how easy this is to improve on Nintendo of Americas lame pointless commercials? Each one shows more shots of people then game. And its always the same group of fake people not really playing said game or reacting to it.
  
  First off, 35 people can not play Mario Galaxy, or Metroid, or Zelda. So why have so many people on single player games? Secondly. I cant remember the last time my friend was playing a game and I just started clapping. People arnt seals. We dont just clap for no reason. And while granny playing a farty minigame on Wario Ware is funny you shouldn't applaud it...
  
  http://us.wii.com/Go there... Watch any of the so called reaction videos. These are not real people. They're actors, doing what they're told to do. No one says these kinds of things, or acts like that.
  
  But Nex, its possibly a study thing where they wer asked to voice certain ideas and... BS!!! Its fake. They wer told to read from a script and pretend to have fun.
  
  Im not even complaining because thats not how GAMERS act. I mean who would want to see some dude sitting all stoic focused on a game trying to do whatever it is that needs done. But my grandma doesn't act like that when she plays Tetris or whatever puzzle game shes on. Record that, a real person, playing a game.

  If some Japanese guys came over to my house witha wii and a wii van and all this awesome stuff Id be like woot. and Id play the games. And I would have a grand old time. But I wouldn't sit there with some stupid expression a do a hand stand on my couch when I won.
  
  Now not all the Wii commercials are horrible. The one with the old guys all decked out in bowling gear playing Wii Sports is cool. But that one isnt all over the top. Go to walmart or target or whatever and watch the advertisements on the Wii display. Is mind numbing. The Mario Party one stands out for its crimes agaisnt the human intellect...
  
  Now TV is one thing. One dudes rant on his blog is not gonna change anything. But there is no point for that nonsense on the Wii site. Im sorry, but its fake and people dont need to see that...
  
  PS. Nintendo hates gamers. Its true.
