The Talking Plant Platyphyllum's Blog!

Hello. I'm Platyphyllum.
Wow, I've been gone for a long time

Hello everyone, it's me Platyphyllum, it's nice to see you all again! ^_^

Wow, I've been absent from the Gamespot community for a LONG time. I think the last time I posted a blog here was early June or something. Well, thankfully, I am now officially back after getting that blogging urge. Some of you might be wondering why exactly I was gone and...well, I don't really know. I guess I just lost interest in blogging for a while. Lots of things have happened during my absence in Gamespot so I have a lot to talk about. I'm also relying on you guys to fill me in on everything I missed! ^_^ Apparently, it's E3 right now or something. I can't believe I didn't know that until a few minutes ago...

Graduation

First thing to take care of is the fact that I must announce that I have graduated! No, I do not have a high school diploma (for those newcomers to my blog) but in fact, I just finished elementary school/middle school/whatever term you use and I am now moving onto high school! Ah, I feel so tiny compared to everyone else on this site. Anyway, I'm looking forward to high school. If you guys have any advice to give me on how to survive then please tell me what it is

Games

Oh gosh...I have accumulated A LOT of games ever since my last blog (mainly as graduation presents and I bought a few using the graduation money I got). I don't even know where to start Well, I guess I should just throw all of them at you in this blog.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

sdf

Alright, so 2 or so weeks before graduation, I decided to replay the original "The Longest Journey" for the PC. I never realized just how good it was! I absolutely loved it! So, I decided to ask my father to buy me this game for a graduation present. Aside from the fact that the combat in this game SUCKS, the game as a whole was actually pretty good! There were some neat puzzles, the story was a nice continuation from the original game (although I missed the witty random dialogue from the first game, it seems like everything the people in this game talk about is related to the plot) and as usual, the voice acting is wonderful. I actually made a review for this game already (I'll talk more about my reviews later on).

Wii Fit

sdf

Yes, I actually went ahead and bought this. I wouldn't exactly say that this is a must have game but it was surprisingly fun. This game isn't one of the best that's out for the Wii right now, but it's still an interesting and fun game. It made me more aware of just how fat I am (it called me obese ) and made me realize that I can't even do push-ups since I'm so heavy. I guess I do need to work out more!

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES

sdf

PERSONA! I actually got interested in this game because I remember playing Persona 2 back when I was 8 or 9 years old. Obviously, being that young, I never finished the game because it was so hard and my young mind couldn't comprehend it, but I do remember absolutely loving the $tyle and atmosphere of the game. So, I decided to get Persona 3 with some of my graduation money and I must say that I absolutely love it! It's kind of different from Persona 2 but I still love it! The storyline got so emotionally gripping towards the end, the character development was just really well done! I also liked that whole "exploit the enemy's weakness to get an extra turn" thingy, it added more strategy to the game.

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne

dfg

Alright, so apparently, this was one of the most underrated games in quite a while. It was supposed to be extremely good for its time, however, not many people bought it and it faded away into obscurity reaching $80+ price points on Amazon.ca. So, when I actually saw this game at a gaming retailer, I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming and bought it. I haven't played much of it, but from what I've seen, the game is very...large and full of options. It's quite easy to get lost but that's what makes it so intriguing! Oh, and Dante from Devil May Cry is in here also.

Well, that's it for the new games I've gotten over the past month.

Reviews

Some of you may have noticed that I deleted some of my reviews here on Gamespot. Well, that's because I'm posting them on GameFAQs instead. So, if you all want to see my latest reviews and everything, just go to my GameFAQs account contributor page. Just because I put my reviews up there, that doesn't mean I'm moving to GameFAQs though. I just realized that the reviews on there get more traffic, that's all. So, if you guys want to see any of my latest reviews, just...go there. And, you could also recommend them if you want

Anyways, I'm kind of tired so I think I'll take a rest. See you all soon! ^_^

Zariah Prologue

Hello everybody! It's nice to see you all again! ^_^

Anyway, as I explained in my last blog, nothing much has really been happening and I am extremely bored with nothing to do. Thus, I decided that I should write a story. Many people suggested that I write an original one (instead of the crazy out-of-this-world crossovers I usually do) so i decided to do so! Here it is. This is actually just a prologue (which is a piece of writing used to introduce a drama if you didn't know). Tell me if you guys want me to type out the entire story or if it sounds boring and you don't want to see anymore of it.

----------

Prologue

Zariah stood before the large menacing demon. Blood, dripping down her forehead…she had just suffered from a fatal blow. Her breastplate was worn out and stained with the blood of her opponent. She had companions but they were occupied with their own troubles as otherworldly monsters had taken root in the demon's nest. The thought of her companions counting on her and the weight of the world on her shoulders…she couldn't give up now. Her opponent was weakened, she knew she was capable of finishing it off. She thrust herself forward with her remaining strength and dealt the finishing blow. All was silent…

----------

Well, that's all I've come up with for now! Tell me if it was any good and if you want to see more.

An Update (and A Story)

Hello everyone! It's nice to see you all again! ^_^

Well, it's been a really long time since I made my last blog. I found that I haven't really had much time and I didn't have much to talk about. School ends for me next week and I'm also graduating! I'm going from Grade 8 into High School! Yay! ^_^ I'm so happy for some reason! ^_^

Anyway, because of the uneventfulness of my life, I decided that since school is almost ending and everything is gearing down (which means more free time), I should start making up stories and posting them on my blogs here on Gamespot! If you all remember, I think last summer, I was making this crossover fanfiction called An Overdose of Light which I...er.....well, I don't really know what happened to it. I just stopped making it.Anyway, I'm feeling kind of creative right now, so I thought maybe I should start doing that sort of thing again for all of you to read and waste time on . Since I'm making it for fun, I'm open to all suggestions as to what you guys want my story to be about. Do you guys want me to make some sort of crossover fanfiction like I did last summer or do you guys want me to make some sort of original story? If you have any suggestions, you can leave them in the comments section.

Oh, and in case you were worrying. I'm STILL going to be putting up blogs about what is going on in my life and new games and such. I might make a new blog right after graduation on the 24th and tell you all about how it felt, how it went, and the sorts of gifts that I got!. ^_^

Well, that's it for now. See you all soon! ^_^

I Give You My Hand

Hey everyone, it's me Platyphyllum! ^_^ How are you all today?

Well, life has been somewhat uninteresting to me lately. Not too much has been happening. I've just been attending birthday parties, being excited for a party that I'll be hosting on Saturday, listening to music, talking to my friends, blah blah blah...and so on. Oh yeah, and I've been playing a new game that came in the mail last week called Golden Sun!

sdf

Now, I must say, I really loved this game (loved is in past tense because I already finished it )! It was a really great old-school RPG with many nice touches (Psyenergy, Djinnis) that made it enjoyable. The music was real nice and the graphics were really great! ^_^ The game gets a wholehearted recommendation from me to any fans of those SNES JRPGs who are interested in this game! ^_^ I'm probably going to make a full review for it someday so look forward to it!

Speaking of reviews, I made a review for Endless Ocean. Go check it out and..well, recommend it if you think the review was really good! If you didn't like my review, then please leave some (CONSTRUCTIVE!) criticism in the comment section on this blog:

ENDLESS OCEAN REVIEW

Unfortunately, that's all I really have to talk about right now. I'll leave you all with a song that I really like:

I Will Always Stand By Your Side

Hello everyone! ^_^ It's very nice to see you all today! ^_^

So, how is everyone doing? I'm not feeling too well. I think I'm catching a cold (again! It's only been 2 weeks after I was last sick!) and I pulled a muscle in my leg yesterday at school. It hurt pretty bad. The odd thing is that one of my friends and my brother also pulled a muscle in that same day. Thus, I took the day off from school. I should be able to go back to school tomorrow though (unless my cold progresses). Nonetheless, despite my negative state right now, I still have energy left to make a blog.

Games

Well, for those who read my last blog, you would remember that I recently got a game called Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines for the PC and I absolutely loved it! (the only major problem being the heaps of technical bugs and glitches that are present if you don't download any patches). I've been making quite a bit of progress on it and I'm actually near the end. However, lately, because of schoolwork, I simply haven't had the motivation to actually finish the game so I won't be making a review for it yet.

sdf

I also ordered two new games since I'm getting bored of my current ones. The games are Mario Kart Wii for the...Wii, and Golden Sun for the GBA. They both look pretty fun so I'm looking forward to them!

sdf wer

Moving

Well, big news, I'm moving! My family and I are situating ourselves to a place nearer to the highschool that I go to. We've been moving a lot of the furniture ourselves and its really tiring bringing the TVs and everything up so I just hope everything goes well in the end! ^_^

Music

Remember last time when I said that I was obsessed with video game music? Well, I no longer am. I'm actually listening to a lot of other artists right now. I pretty much just asked my friends for some good songs to listen to, and I've been listening to different songs at an incredibly fast rate Lately, these have been some of my favorite bands (their genres are varied, there's Celtic, Pop, Worship, Trance, etc.)

Apocalyptica
ATB
DJ Inphinity
Rihanna
Iona
Flyleaf
Joanne Hogg
Dagda
Ayaka
Mozart
Libera
Nobuo Uematsu
Hillsong United
DJ Mangoo
Darling Violetta
Enya
Leona Lewis

So, yeah, as you can tell, I've been listening to quite a bit of new music.

----------

Anyway, that's all I have to blog about today! See you all soon! ^_^

The Words I Feel

Hey everyone! ^_^ It is nice to see you all today! ^_^

So, how is everything going for all of you out there? Things have been going really well for me lately! Although, I have unfortunately gotten a fever so I couldn't go to school today since I was feeling terrible in the morning (I do feel better now though). Anyways, a lot of stuff has been happening ever since I last blogged, I went to a camp, got a new game, and I'm also going to go to my friend's Confirmation this coming Thursday (for those who don't know what a Confirmation is, you can check my last blog where I briefly describe it). Anyway...

Games

Ever since my last blog, I have received a new game! That game happens to be the long-awaited Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines!

sdf

To tell you the truth, I have been enjoying the game quite a bit lately! ^_^ Even if the game is old and full of bugs and glitches, I still found myself easily immersed into the large and interesting "World of Darkness". The gameplay's pretty nice, the characters are interesting and full of personality, and I found myself playing the game and completing quests while the hours flew by. The only major problem I found with this game is (as I stated out earlier) is that its full of bugs and glitches! There are a huge amount of unofficial patches released dedicated on fixing these (I downloaded some) and even then the game is still buggy. My brother just upgraded the computer last year and even with a high-end 2006/07 computer, the game still lags and such. Luckily, I didn't have to go through those random game crashes and 2-minute loading times that people who bought the game at its initial release had to go through. Although, nonetheless, the game is still great. If it wasn't full of so many technical problems, I could've easily said it was one of my most favorite games of all time. I might make a full review for the game eventually so look forward to it! ^_^

As for other games, I ended up finishing Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword. I'm trying to unlock the Way of the Kunoichi mode to squeeze out as much of the game's content as I can but other than that I'm pretty much finished with the game. I'm still working on Baroque though.

Music

I don't know about you guys but...have you guys ever been obsessed with video game and anime music? After I got my MP3 player on my birthday two months ago and actually bothering to use it AND finding out about Galbadia Hotel, I've been downloading all of my favorite game music Anyway, just so you get an idea, here's a list of all the game music I have:

Why (by Ayaka) - Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

Pain - Xenosaga

Small Two of Pieces - Xenogears

Orchestrated Phoenix Wright Music

...and I have a whole lot more but I'm feeling a bit lazy so I won't post all of them up. Anyway, as my search for more variety in music continues, I will continue to listen to these songs and hope that I won't be listening to them everyday anymore because they honestly are getting a bit repetitive (but not to the point where I stop listening to theme >_>)

----------

Anyways, that's all the news I have to share with you all today! ^_^ See you all soon!
