So I got to thinking the other day - who makes up your friends lists on XBL/PSN?? I suspect different people have very different answers. My two older kids for example ( being 15 and 12 ) their lists are made up almost exclusively of "friends in real life" and friends of those friends. Then only one or two people they "meet on-line".

My XBL list on the other hand has:

  • wife and each of our 4 kids
  • a couple of kids friends including the eldests' girlfriend
  • The local Game deputy manager
  • People from here ( GS )
  • People meet on-line

By far the biggest group is the people from here meaning that I have never met the majority of my "friends" which is clearly a direct contrast to my older children.

My younger children on the other hand "have to" either know the people on their two lists or have them vouched for by the older kids if you see what I mean. The younger two are 8 and 6 so family and friends of the older ones make up their lists exclusively!

So what about you folks? What is the break down of your lists??

Interesting blog:)

My PSN ?main account? list:

*Gamespot friends (about 20)

* Co-op partners I met online and ended up friends.( about 18)

*Hardcore Gamers I met on some privet video gaming websites, we talk on PSN a lot about games and stuff and sometimes we write guides for trophies and such.

I spend about 20 t0 40% of my gaming time on PSN talking about games and some life related stuff, XD

I know you from here, and I have one personal friend, and a couple others from GS and a couple other sites. The rest are people I competed with and, I assume, earned some respect with by not screwing anyone over online. I'll really add anyone who bothers asking because they are taking their time on me, something I don't do for myself.

Most of the people on my PSN friend list are people from Gamespot.Some of them are people I've talked to regularly but some of them are people who are on my Gamespot friend list who've I've never talked to or I've commented on their blogs or they commented on my blog 1 or 2 times but they choose to add me.A few of the people on my PSN friend list are people who've I've played Street Fighter 4 against.I don't  like to game online much so I don't meet much online friends from playing games on PSN,

Believe it or not most of my friends on PSN have come from GameSpot since I posted my gamer tag last year, and I think it's a good thing since most of them are friendly unlike some of the people I've met online.

Without looking, I have probably 5 or so people I actually know on my list, the rest are people I've met on GameSpot or a few other places like Ps3trophies.org. Oh, and some I've met while gaming online. I don't really play online with others so much anymore. So even when it comes to gaming I'm not all that social. I prefer to enjoy games by myself, though when I did my fair share of online gaming it was fun to play with people who weren't strangers, or not complete strangers anyway.

my list contains 4 friends, and many people from gamespot and people that like to play full house poker, and Halo Reach

I'm not social with gaming, lol.  I have nine friends: four of them I know from school/college, four from this site, and one from playing Assassin's Creed online.

 @Darnasian I'd say yes, but unfortunately I looked at your game list and saw PS3 and PC titles, and I have it for the 360 :/ unless you do have it for 360 and not broadcasting it, lol.  sorry, I should have made it clear which system/service this list was from.

90% RL, 10% from sites like this only after knowing them a long time. I prefer to just keep it to RL friends.

Also, my XBL(Windows LIve) and PSN lists are filled to the brim, and I'm constantly having to erase folks that are inactive every few months to make room.

My steam list isn't full.

 @SolidTy Wanna add me on Steam and play something sometime? :D

@Darnasian

Perhaps Darnasian, just send an invite to SolidTy. :)

I warn you, I own a lot of games across many machines, so I don't spend a lot of time on only PS3, PC, Wii, 360, DS, PSP, etc. So, my time on those machines can be a long time, or super short depending on the games. :P

I also have classic machines I play on as well, when I'm not watching movies. :P

I have a handful of actual friends, 2 or 3 of which I occasionally play with.  Then I have a lot of people from this site with whom I NEVER play.  *scratches head*

 @Uesugi-dono Did you at least try to play with them? :P

 @Darnasian

 In all honesty most sent requests, announcing they were from gamespot, and never asked about playing a game at all.    And me?  I have three small children so being able to play a game uninterrrupted is a bit of a.. challenge.  lol

My PSN friends are mostly GS and PF friends and 1 or 2 met on the was and 1 or 2 real life friends. Although I have lots of real life friends that have a PS3 and a PSN account , they have totally different "tastes" in gaming ( to put it like that) so we would certainly play none of the games online , thus rendering adding them a waste of time!

Who the hell buys a console just for FIFA , NBA and COD?

A mash up of random people who happen to not be pricks (kind of rare nowadays with randoms lol), friends around where I live, and people from GS...
