As everyone knows, the Kain and Lynch/Jeff Gerstmann debacle is probably the worst moment in game reviewing history. Because one honest review has been tied so closely to the departure and reinstatement of so many of Gamespot's staff, it boggles my mind as to who deserved to be fired and who deserved a second chance.
The twisted triangle is finally complete, as 1UP reports the entire PR, Marketing, and sales teams of Eidos have been let go. They join Jeff and Josh Larson as those fired while Kain and Lynch still stands on the store shelves. Maybe this is testament to the true staying power of games, or maybe the end of a 7-month stranglehold gamer nation had over Eidos in general.
Now I guess its time to ask yourself....have you supported anyone? Do you visit Jeff's new site? Sent a letter to Gamespot thanking your favorite reviewer still left? Did you buy an Eidos product to support them? Did you not? Are you still worrying about the seperation of advertising and reviews?
Either way, it's finally over. Like it or not, Kain and Lynch
ead Men can no longer affect gaming. Fitting that this ends just in time for GTAIV, as the reviewer for IGN has already stated "Grand Theft Auto IV is the best game since Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time."
....Here we go again.
