Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny (Japan)

Gundam Seed (2002) & Gundam Seed Destiny (2004), both span 50 episodes each, making a total of 100 episodes. In the near space of the earth lies the PLANTs, which are colonies built by humans to live in space. As the Earth; PLANT has its own military, called ZAFT. The anime starts with the Earth Alliance forces & ZAFT being in war, this is an aspect of the storyline through the whole series.

Coordinators are the new type of humans, it's a human made with technology which allows advanced gene & DNA customization. Coordinators have higher knowledge, better understanding & are stronger than regular humans, neither can they get infected with deadly diseases. Coordinators make up most of the population in the PLANTs, being not accepted on the Earth, in which Blue Cosmos (an anti-Coordinator group) pulls the strings of the war.

Athrun (left) & Kira (right) are both coordinators, being friends since childhood they had to go separate paths. Athrun joins the ZAFT forces, while Kira somehow get into the Earth Alliance force. Causing the close friends to battle each other and question their beliefs.

Both Kira & Athrun are Mobile Suit pilots, the trademark of the Gundam animes. Giant robots battling each other. The anime has a huge crew of characters, subcharacters and different kinds of mobile suits. Philosophical questions regarding war and racism is being questioned again & again in the anime. it will have some effect on you, how you see the world and how you should treat it.

If you could only watch one show on the TV in your whole life, Gundam Seed is one of the better choice, because this is an insanely good anime and should make anyone understand why Gundam has such a popularity.

Dance with the Wind (South Korea)

Dance with the Wind (2004) tells the story of one man two travels parts of the world to learn how to dance. He wasn't interested in dancing until one of his "gigilo" friends though him a few steps. He makes the dancing his happiness and his spiritual goal. He travels through countries and finds many teachers.

However, soon he learns that dancing has a troublesome side. It isn't accepted in the society, his dancing attracts women, a situation causing trouble. He finds himself to spend time with married women & women of high social statues. When their men finds out; our dancing man is arrested, considered being a "gigilo".

All he wanted to do was dance, his happiness was dancing, it was his life. But no one seems to understand him. Instead he's being chased by women & the police.

A rather cheesy sty,le is shown through the movie, the movie is partly a comedy. A very interesting movie, very thoughtful and beautiful. I'm sure you'll consider dancing to be something more special after you've watched this movie.

    2009: Lost Memories (South Korea)

2009: Lost Memories (2002). I've seen this movie several times, the first time it just doesnt make sense. After researching on the Internet, reading forums & theories, things starts to make sense. This movie is pretty difficult to grasp the first time you watch it.

Basically the reality we know isn't as it is... it's year 2009 & Japan have taken Korea. Japanese citizens lives in Korea and claims the country as their own. But did this really happen, or has time been altered to favor the Japanese nation?

This movie has an incredible good soundtrack, man, the music is just plain awesome. Really emotional stuff going on in the music. Worth seeing just to hear the theme song! The movie however does things a little over-emotional. In the middle of a gunfight, our maincharacter starts crying and holding a dead body in his lap... and it seems to go on forever. Lucky him all the bad guys keep missing with their guns!

There's a really nice storyline going on here, but several things are left in darkness, leaving you to reflect and realize by yourself, which is really nice. I think this movie is great, you should watch it, and you should do it twice.
