How Call of Duty Has Ruined Gaming
This is only an opinion...my opinion. I like to think of myself as someone who is "experienced in gaming" because I have been playing video games for over twenty years. Now, I would like to give my opinion of how I think Call of Duty has ruined gaming.
The original Call of Duty games were awesome! The first three originals were based off of World War II. When the third came out, there were a lot of WWII based games that couldn't compete with what COD was offering the players. That all changed after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. COD: Modern Warfare came out and it started a whole new franchise within the first person genre. The concept was new, it was good, it brought players in. After the second, third, etc. started being released Call of Duty quickly became another Madden NFL. Just another game to be released next year with similar graphics, no new concepts and just a lot of explosions to make you feel as if you were actually enjoying the game.
I personally care more for story driven games.
Specifically because COD, it has ruined, what I think many other franchises who try to give the player more than run around for 10 minutes dying every 3-5 seconds.A lot of players tend to think that COD is the best thing that was ever released. It has forced, or changed some developers plans for certain video games to create worthless multiplayer experiences that are only trying to immulate what COD is offering. Some of the games out there that I would have honestly believed would have become huge hits if it wasn't for Call of Duty:
MAG would have been a HUGE hit if it weren't for the COD players. I say this because a lot of the players were COD players. They would not work together. They would not focus on the objectives. They would not use tactics to play the game. Many ran around and were shot within seconds by a sniper or someone waiting at an objective. Once the newest edition of COD was released, over half of the MAG population disappeared within a week.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier started off good, but then came another COD and everyone left because Ghost Recon forced them to think. They wanted a game to run around and randomly kill people. This game was supposed to be a new concept of working together to win. I always like how developers say these things are NEW when a lot of games were doing this for years before the release of COD.
On the topic of working together...even SOCOM; what I personally think is one of the first series to introduce competitive modern combat that forced the players to use tactics rather than what COD brings you.I remember sitting for hours during the summer with friends I have never met enjoying CLAN battles, team tactics, and training that lasted throughout all hours of the night. The SOCOM community were close. Many CLANS became allies, others enemies.
Call of Duty doesn't bring any of the above listed to the experience. It has literally become the same thing over and over again. Don't get me wrong, I personally enjoy the story of COD. The online side has personally ruined a lot of online gaming for me.

My Experience with Gaming
I have been playing video games for over twenty years and I would consider myself experienced when it comes to knowing what a quality game is. In no way do I consider myself an expert, a game reviewer or a writer but I do have an opinion from time to time about a topic I am passionate about. As many know, there are so many different types of generes and each type has it's own pros and cons. I have owned different types of game systems and I say that my experience with PlayStation has been great thus far.
I haven't honestly owned an XBox, but I have played a few games on their system and it has shown me that each system has something to offer that the other one doesn't. I used to love playing video games online, but over the years the experience has been degraded to teenagers and immature adults acting like reaching the top score is an accomplishment they must complete in their life time. The first online game I ever experienced was SOCOM II. I tty to compare most online play today to SOCOM II. I do this because, back then ... not everyone played to gain rank or unlock a weapon. Most people back then played for the experience, for fun.
