GamerScore
This blog is dedicated to a very special punk b!tch who I ran into while playing R6 online (while admitting to boosting on Countdown for 3 hours straight)
I always believed that the Microsoft’s achievements system was a great idea and to some extent I still do. However, it seems as if a large group of douche bags have taken it to an entirely absurd level. 100,000? 95,000? 75,000? Most who have achieved these scores did it by using disingenuous methods. Shady methods such as playing region specific games outside of their own region or utilizing the insidious and now infamous “game save” option. Personally, if you have an incredibly high gamer score achieved legitimately, more power to you. Quite frankly, I don’t care. Even if your methods of attaining a gamer score were fraudulent I don’t think I could care less. It’s when these tricks start bragging about their gamer score as if it meant they were superior players is when I get pissed.
I seriously lost count of all the players that come into a GRAW or GoW room and brag about their GS. They even have the audacity to clown on players who have lower scores. To these tricks out there my questions to you are this: So what? What did it get you? Did you win a cookie? Maybe even won a donut? What is the point? This does not mean in any way shape or form you are a superior player to any one else. You think you the Shiite at GoW or R6? I can find a hundred people that would smoke you like purple haze with only a GS of 1K. So quit talking your sh!t just because there are people out there who choose to have a social life, a career, and a woman in their lives rather than playing the 360 every f***ing day.
A GS doesn’t mean sh!t regardless if it’s high or low. For me, the GS is always secondary to having fun. I’m not going to buy a POS game like Superman, Sneak King, or Bomberman just to get the points. That defeats the purpose of playing the damn game. If you choose to do the aforementioned, that’s great but don’t think it makes you better than anyone else.

Gaming Debate
When I first purchased the original Xbox I was met with certain criticism from various friends and associates. They encouraged me to forgo the Xbox in favor of the PS2. I have always been extremely skeptical and distrusting of Sony as a company far before it was even speculated they were entering the gaming industry. I had my own reasons for disliking Sony but I wanted to make the best gaming decision. I did a little research and made the decision to buy the Xbox rather than the PS2. Little did I know I would be involuntarily joining a console war.
The Xbox was released as a technologically superior gaming machine. Although I would be a hypocrite to say this had nothing to do with my decision, it did, but it was by no means the main reason for why I purchased it. Simply put, I did not like Sony period. Every time I was asked why I had purchased the Xbox I would state my reasons and move on. I surmise that this reasoning was never enough to appease my opponents curiosity and the next thing I know I’m in a debate. I will not generalize Sony gamers as entirely fanboys, I know many of them are nice people who just love gaming, but I will say that all of the Sony followers I encountered used the exact same rebuttal. It was the now infamous “It’s not about the graphics or power it’s about the games!” line. Man, in retrospect, that sure was a classic.
Without a doubt, Sony destroyed MS hands down when it came to the games. These Fanboys were absolutely correct and there was no denying this fact. At release, we had Halo and .... Well we had Halo. Conversely, Sony had acquired exclusivity rights for games such as Grand Theft Auto and the Metal Gear series. We had ..... Halo. Sony had a year advance on supplying titles and games for their console before the Xbox was released. This hurt MS but as I had expected they were not going to take it laying down. It took a while but the Xbox was attempting to pull even with the PS2. We had exclusive titles such as Fable, the early Tom Clancy games, Obviously Halo, and various other highly respected and rated titles. Then, the next generation war broke out.
Now, the tables have turned. Microsoft has had a year advantage on its competition and has produced some great early titles. GRAW, Elder Scrolls, Dead Rising, and Call of Duty 2 are just a few of the great games the 360 produced. Present day looks even better with Gears of War, Rainbow Six, and Lost Planet all were or will be great games. The future looks even brighter now that titles such as GTA, Final Fantasy, and various other games will no longer be exclusive or premiered with the PS3. Sony’s monopoly on the top rated games seems to be dwindling as they hold on desperately to games like God of War and the Metal Gear series to maintain their gaming supremacy.
Since the PS3 has launched the debate continues but its tremendously ironic what the Sony fanboys are using as their basis for argument. It is irrefutable that the PS3 has a slight technological advantage on the 360. I will not deny that and give Sony its props there. However, Sony fanboys are now using the “technologically superior” argument in an attempt to trump the 360. Wait wait wait a minute. Wasn’t it these exact same fanboys who were saying “It’s not about the graphics or power it’s about the games” line when it came to the Xbox and PS2? Now that the gaming advantage no longer applies they revert to hypocrisy as their main form of debate? This is absurd and at the same time laughable.
I have no qualms with PS3 owners. They have a right to choose what system they think is best and the more power to them. I’m not going to clown them for their decisions or even try to lure them to the MS side of the debate. I hate to quote Marx but “To each according to his needs”. However, my advise to you if you want to debate who is superior, would be to find another basis of argument rather than resort to hypocritical statements. If you are a Sony follower who never used the “All about the games” line either you are lying or you don’t care for debate and feel it’s irrelevant. If the latter is the case I tip my hat to you. This shouldn’t be about who is better because at the very core we are all gamers regardless of preference or affiliation. We are a community and have more in common than many would like to admit. If you clown on me for buying a 360 I will undoubtedly fight fire with fire just as I would expect a PS3 fan to do the same. In the mean time, “F*** it let’s go bowling”.- Posted Dec 8, 2006 2:04 pm GMT

Censorship / Parental Rights
With the 7th district court’s denial of Illinois’s SEVGL appeal, many have breathed a huge sigh of relief. However, these demagogues declaration of war is far from over. The good guys have won the battle but it was only a small win in the grand scope of things. It is plausible that an effort will be made to progress this case to the supreme court while making minor modifications and language alterations to the original bill. If and when that moment comes, the great debate will be reborn with as much malevolence, belligerence, and oppugnancy as ever before. The great debate is not a debate of one issue but of a multitude of particularities and dependent tenets. One of these tenets for both sides is censorship and parental rights.
Censorship, by definition, is “The force that represses ideas, impulses, and feelings, and prevents them from entering consciousness in their original, undisguised forms.” Censorship is thrown around far to often as if we were living in the fifties and everyone considered different was accused of communism. In theory, you could apply censorship to Porn, heroine, and methamphetamine’s, being that it’s considered censorship if it “represses impulses and feelings”. Does heroine not give its user a sensation or feeling? Pornography, although legal but highly regulated, could fall under the same category because it can repress natural “impulses”. Censorship is an ambiguous term and in my opinion is not relevant to the argument. To use censorship as the foundation for a debate is like building a beach front castle on the sand. It will fall like Eric Morales in the third round.
Parental rights are probably the most important factor in this debate. Parental authority can arguably be the most imperative factor in society.

"Disappointing" While not on the level of R6 for the N64, the Live play acts as its savior while making a decent game slightly better. Continue »
