  Is it me or are games becoming more and more similar?

  For me I find many of the games today are becoming way too similar to each other, with most of them becoming generic and lacking any real soul. One example is Call of Duty Modern Warfare and the new Medal of Honour reboot. Both look and play exactly the same from the gameplay I've seen, yet they are two completely different games. At least the original Medal of Honour and Call of Duty took the World War II idea and made it different, with M of H focusing more on being a single soldier, while C of D focused on the team work aspect. Gears of War and Uncharted are both near identical if you strip them down to their most basic core and even 3D platformers such as Super Mario Galaxy and Ratchet and Clank are now both sharing a space themed setting. I feel games today are lacking their own heart and soul which made them unique. Even games such as Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil which shared similar traits, both offered unique gameplay experiences which seperated them from each other.
  
  Do you agree or do you think I'm too picky about games today?
