Naming it the PS4 would make it seem like it is superior or different from the PS3. Nintendo smartly avoided this by naming their system Wii U, which conveys absolutely no implication of a successor or improvement. In fact, it makes it sound like Ubisoft's Udraw tablet add-on for the Wii, which is a great idea because that is also a tablet that could be used with the Wii. Since the Wii U had a tablet controller, people would totally think it's a Wii bundled with the Udraw tablet, and that is guaranteedsales! Do the same for the PS4, and see the money be raked in.
really funny read. gonna recommend to my gamer friends to have a read, especially my ps3 gamer friends. they'd def get the humor. nice job.
LMAO I came on here about to be all like "wat?" about the Wii U being "successful" and then I laughed hard at the fact that I'm a dumbass, and you were being sarcastic.
Love the article and agree with it all.
I love Nintendo, I openly admit it. I certainly love their newest console despite some of its drawbacks. But I got to admit that this article was pretty funny, and unfortunately true. Nintendo made some real mistakes with their newest console as highlighted in this obviously sarcastic article. With that said I think there was a lot of things Nintendo did right with their newest console with the idea of having a tablet/joystick controller. Nethertheless, great article willy105.
In what dimensional world did Wii U release lots of launch titles? There's nothing to play but a generic zombie shooter and super mario 39 or something.
85 bucks per controller, OH HELL NAW!

@Chukka_Bukka Wii U is a much better name than Wii 2, and Nintendo has a good excuse for it too.
People can mistake it for a controller at first, but people tend to do a lot of research before buying a $300 product.
Dude, I was about to go ape shit on you, it took me a min to pick up the satire, and it's my favorite kind of tire so I was surprised it took me so long! Very nice article!
Sony and Microsoft will succeed... Nintendo failed with the Wii Useless. I have love for Nintendo from my younger days but its time they stop trying to appeal to toddlers and grandmas and come play with the big boys.
Is it really that hard to tell this is a satirical article? You can tell just from the title. The Wii U could have been good (and it still might be, give it time) but so far it does seem like a wasted opportunity. Why would people want to buy a brand new console and pay full price for games that have been out on other platforms for over a year? (Batman: Arkham City, Mass Effect 3, Amazing Spider-Man) Especially when you can wait a few more months until Christmas and spend an extra $100 or so on the PS4 (if rumors about it being $400 are true). I want to give the Wii U a chance, because I still appreciate Nintendo from my N64 days, but they've got to think of something fast.
@VisualPendulum So far, it sold 3 million, which I think does not include the January sales.
@VisualPendulumIts not entirely accurate as this was for 2012, so it doesn't include 2013 Jan or Feb but it shows Nintendo's official sales figures. (%s). The Wii U's figures are right at the bottom. If anyone has something more up2date I'd be interested in seeing it as well!
I'll post this in the comments section for anyone who doesn't get the artical.
you're not supposed to bash Nintendo but only say good things about it! What happened to you!? What you've said is pretty legit tho/
You know what is funny. The Wii-U will have probably sold more in its first 3 months than either the Xbox720/PS4 will. People have no memory of the last gen and how slow those beginnings were and this gen will probably be worse in that respect. Much worse economy. Tons of cross gen titles and AAA games moving into 2014 will just kill the incentive to upgrade. Tacked on Kinect/Eye Toy will bump the price up in the $450/$500 price range. Nah, Sony and MS could do everything right and it probably won't matter.
@Stonecutters908 You seem to ignore the fact that both PS3 and Xbox 360 NEVER sold as poorly as Wii U is doing right now and yet you tell people have no memory of the last gen?
@Stonecutters908 Is there any way to bookmark this so i can come back in a year and tell you how dumb you are. Nintendo is irrelevant.
@vatorusWhy are you telling some one there dumb because they have an opinion different than yours? Chill out.
The reason why the Wii U sales suck so badly was stated pretty well in this article, no games, bad hardware and a lack of any direction from Nintendo. I used to love the company, but I feel like they have just crapped on its loyal consumers for the last three generations (that is counting this one)
Good read, had a few laughs! I wish more of these "awesome" blogs were actually as well formatted as this. It makes it a pleasure to read. Those those who don't understand the satire I shake my head lol
I think Sony are going to give gamers something to look forward too. The PS3 was a great system, I think they know what they are doing.
Today February 20th 6pm EST (11pm UTC)!!! R.I.P. Nintendo (and Micro$oft)!!! See their death sentence LIVE here: http://www.gamespot.com/features/playstation-meeting-2013-ps4-announcement-6403818/?tag=Topslot%3bPlaystationMeeting2013Live%3bWillSonyFinallyReveal
I dunno, I think the goal is kind of the opposite.
Be as unlike Wii-U so they don't fail as badly as Wii-U I don't think this is a strategy Sony would want to employ. That's like Valve saying let's be successful like Microsoft' XBL!
You got it backwards, I think Nintendo should've been more like Sony and held there tongue a little bit longer.
@Midnight_Twelve it's satire.
@Midnight_Twelve what is this I don't even
@Midnight_Twelve Palm meet forehead.
