I've seen all the videos, the dynamic animations are cool and everything but that doesn't make it fun. I made a giant hippo monster that could devour Satan and then lost interest because I got bored.
I saw what the game is going to be, you start off as a cell eating small cells, wow, that sounds amazing. Then you move on to a NATURE SIMULATOR! Does the fun train stop there? No, it keeps right on coming with an RTS GAME (which I have never liked either)! Then it moves into sandbox mode, which I have no idea about, it could be massive fun or it could be just you restarting the game with more choices.
All I know is I'm waiting for someone to prove to me that this won't just be a trip to Biology class.
I just got to play all the games on The Orange Box today, and all I can say is that they are all incredible. I haven't beaten any of them yet, but Portal is by far the most intriguing of the three new games. Although there isn't much story to it, Valve is saying it has tie-ins to Half-Life 2, so more than likely you will see something with the Portal gun in Episode Three. I haven't played Episode Two yet because every time I try to start it my computer tries to kill itself.
Then there's Team Fortress 2. I did not like Team Fortress Classic, it was too easy to get sniped out of nowhere and it was just unfair if you were playing against someone who had been playing the game since it came out almost ten years ago, which is about 90% of the players. Team Fortress 2, on the other hand, is different. The classes are more evenly made so no one class is overpowering; Valve did a great job making each class have a weak point. One thing that Valve should do is get a team to work on a show or comic or something for Team Fortress 2. If they did that, Team Fortress 2 would get even more attention than it is getting already. Think about it, the game already looks like a Pixar movie, so why not do something like that?
