Spore: First Impressions

I've seen all the videos, the dynamic animations are cool and everything but that doesn't make it fun. I made a giant hippo monster that could devour Satan and then lost interest because I got bored.

I saw what the game is going to be, you start off as a cell eating small cells, wow, that sounds amazing. Then you move on to a NATURE SIMULATOR! Does the fun train stop there? No, it keeps right on coming with an RTS GAME (which I have never liked either)! Then it moves into sandbox mode, which I have no idea about, it could be massive fun or it could be just you restarting the game with more choices.

All I know is I'm waiting for someone to prove to me that this won't just be a trip to Biology class.

Hitman: My Review
Hitman, in my opinion, was not very good. It proved to me that today's movie directors refuse to keep the details behind the video game's story line and just butcher everything that had to do with the game. It had nothing to do with the games except for the fact that 47 was in it and he was in one of the most repetitive places in all of the Hitman games, St. Petersburg. The action was cool, but not creative like in the video games. 47 is not Rambo, and he is not invincible like in this movie. 47 is a selfish and greedy assassin set out to kill his targets QUIETLY as long as he's paid well. In the movie, it made no difference if there was a civilian in the way, and he did not under any circumstances make his hits look like accidents. It was just another lame video game to film adaptation if you ask me. I strongly recommend that you wait for this one to come on DVD if you really feel like you need to see it.

An Old Game Added to My Collection
I just got kill.switch for the PS2 and the more I play it the more I realize how much gameplay Gears of War has taken from that game. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but the mechanics of the two games are very much alike. The main difference is that using cover is a requirement in kill.switch, so if you don't use cover, you will be turned into swiss cheese extremely fast; then it's an option in Gears of War since you have armor that seems to be at least a foot in thickness, kind of like in Unreal Tournament 2003 with the Juggernaut dudes. I really hope that a sequel to kill.switch comes out, because the last one was fun but way too short.

The Orange Box is Awesome

I just got to play all the games on The Orange Box today, and all I can say is that they are all incredible. I haven't beaten any of them yet, but Portal is by far the most intriguing of the three new games. Although there isn't much story to it, Valve is saying it has tie-ins to Half-Life 2, so more than likely you will see something with the Portal gun in Episode Three. I haven't played Episode Two yet because every time I try to start it my computer tries to kill itself.

Then there's Team Fortress 2. I did not like Team Fortress Classic, it was too easy to get sniped out of nowhere and it was just unfair if you were playing against someone who had been playing the game since it came out almost ten years ago, which is about 90% of the players. Team Fortress 2, on the other hand, is different. The classes are more evenly made so no one class is overpowering; Valve did a great job making each class have a weak point. One thing that Valve should do is get a team to work on a show or comic or something for Team Fortress 2. If they did that, Team Fortress 2 would get even more attention than it is getting already. Think about it, the game already looks like a Pixar movie, so why not do something like that?

And So Starts Another School Year
Today is the first day of school for me, and so far, it's about as boring as it was for the past eleven years. It's my senior year, and I already can't wait for it to finish.
