1.Final Fantasy XIII-2

It has more charm than FFXIII,has proper NPC interaction and better towns and a large city and the battle system feels more fluid. It's love story is better than in FFXIII and is more believable and very heartfelt.I liked being able to visit different places in the world at different regions in time(hundreds of years in the past or future)and seeing how different they look.

2.Tales of Graces

It characters whom I care about and an interesting and emotional story.I like how the story shows the characters when they're kids and years later when they're older teens to make it feel like you've watched them grow up.It shows romantic interests and jealousy. It has features that many people like to see in JRPGs such as towns,NPC interaction, beautiful fantasy world and it's battle system is fun and typical of Tales RPGs.

3.Resident Evil Revelations

It brings back the creepy, survival horror feel that has been missing in RE games for a long time.It makes you be conservative with ammo(to make it feel like survival horror)and has a more disturbing feel to it.It has a good mix of survival horror and action and numerous playable characters and a good mixture of different time periods the story/gameplay takes place in and I like how the characters have distinctive personalities and how the story shows the possibility of character romance.

4.Tales of the Abyss(3DS version)

It has interesting and diverse characters and good character development and a love story and I like how the prices of items in stores increases a lot during times of war to give you a sense that you're really in the world. It has the traditional JRPG features that many people love such as towns,NPC interaction, lots of sidequests, anime influence and the 3DS version has extra features including the 3D effect which at times looks nice but sometimes it doesn't.

5.Dragon's Dogma

I like it's open world and combat mechanics that make you think about defense and not just offense.I like how you can climb giant enemies before you attack them.It uses a proper day/night system to make you think about how you want to manage time(because night has very little vision when you're in the wild). The game has great music and you can acquire the services of pawns which are game generated or player generated characters to join your party and you can even buy the services of pawns who are stronger than your main character.

I'm still yet to play The Last Story but I own a copy of it and will play it after I plat FFXIII(just one more trophy to go).I don't have a PS Vita so I can't play Gravity Rush but it looks like a game I'll love.

--------------------------

Games I'm looking forward to in late 2012 or in 2013 or that I'm hoping for are:-

Final Fantasy vs XIII

It CGI's look beautiful and artistic(especially the scene with the beautiful woman). The game looks awesome,I just hope it comes out not too long from now.

Final Fantasy Type 0

It's received a lot of praise in Japan and I like the use of red color for it's costume designs. It's battle system looked fun too.Sources say Square Enix confirmed they were going to localize FF Type 0 but I haven't heard anything more since.

Ni No Kuni

It has a charming old school look and people who are working on this game have been involved in making anime movies known for their beautiful artstyles.

Yakuza 5

Yakuza 4 is my favorite game of the 7th gen and this I why I can't wait for Yakuza 5,especially since my favorite character from Yakuza 4 named Shun Akiyama will return and of course Kazuma Kiryu will return. It will take place in 5 distinctive locations across Japan and the combat in Yakuza 4 was great and a big improvement for the series and hopefully the player can date beautiful Japanese women again.

Fist of the North Star Ken's Rage 2

I liked the first FoTNSKR game and the FoTNS anime. It has a retro style that I like and I find the characters in the series interesting.I like how the first Ken's Rage game allowed you to see alternative storylines by using different characters and I hope Ken's Rage 2 allows more of the same.

The Last Guardian

It was supposed to be released in early 2011(or something like that)but there was game technical problems and then some of the team ICO staff left and the game's trademark expired which sounds worrisome. The Last Guardian world looks beautiful and realistic and the creature whom accomapanies your character is supposed to react in a realistic way to the world and this game sounds interesting to me for the same reason I loved Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom so much.

Lightning Returns

It's setting sounds interesting(hundreds of years after FFXIII-2)and you have 13 days to save the world and you can gain or lose time.

Paper Mario Sticker Star

It looks very charming and I love Paper Mario 64 and Paper Mario Thousand Year Door because of their charm, artstyle, story presentation and I like RPGs.Another reason I'm looking forward to it is I want another good game for my 3DS.

Final Fantasy X HD

It was confirmed it was coming to PS3 and Vita(I don't know about other consoles).I cannot wait because it's my favorite game of all time for reasons I've mentioned many times. It would be nice to be able to play FFX again without having to dust off my PS2 and having trophy support for it and I think a HD makeover would really suit the game since it has some beautiful locations/scenes so why not make them even more beautiful

Final Fantasy XII HD

It's far from being my favorite Final Fantasy game(it's actually my second least favorite FF game in the main series after FFII)but it was still a great game nonetheless and it has quite a good story and interesting world but it was poorly presented, maybe they could fix that with a FFXII remake. The gambit system was quite fun to use because it allows you to micromanage what your party members do in battle to a large degree and it's open world and hunts are a nice feature too.

Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core HD

Since the PSP's lifespan is over and the Vita can't play PSP UMD's,people who didn't or whom won't buy a PSP will miss out on what is one of the best JRPGs ever made and one of the most emotional stories in video game history. It's combat system is great and it's actually my favorite combat system out of all the Final Fantasy games. And add trophy support too

Final Fantasy IX HD

Whilst I think certain older Final Fantasy games such as FFVII and FFVIII shouldn't get a HD makeover because they're charming and artistic how they are and I don't want their artstyles/cinematics tampered with,I think a HD would suit FFIX because I think Zidane and the characters in world in FFIX would adapt well to a HD makeover.FFIX is one of the most enjoyable and charming RPGs I've played and I'd like to experience again(especially it's charming towns)but honestly the graphics for when you travel over the world map and for battle screens hurt my eyes a bit.

@Alchemist3001 Thanks for showing me this.I wanted to sign the petition but I don't want to give them my email address and I'm too tired to make another email address right now.I remember Yakuza 3 and 4 were nearly not localized because there was doubt to how well they'd sell in the west.Same with Ar Tonelico Qoga and I doubt a localized version of the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia will be released because publishers doubt whether it will sell well in the West or not.I've also heard a localized version of Tales of Xillia's is/was dependent on how well Tales of Graces sells in the west.

Very nice blog. I really like your taste which is really unique & different from most gamers who only play shooters these days and don't look for a good engaging story or characters.

You really encouraged me to play FF XIII-2 because I was a bit discouraged after trying the demo & I really liked the first game.

I am really excited about FF X since I didn't play it &  as you stated is one of the best if not the best of the series as I hear. I only started to play JRPGs with FF XII and I liked it a lot and it became my most played game of all time I put 120+ in it. So any recommendations old or new on any system that I must not miss out as a JRPG best experience?

All the other games are on my to playlist or wishlist and for 2013 Final Fantasy vs XIII,

Ni No Kuni and Final Fantasy Type 0 which I wish it will be on the Vita are of the most exciting for me.

Please did they confirm Final Fantasy XII HD & Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core HD because I missed this news?

Yakuza is on my rader for along time but didn't have the time or enough encouragement to try it but after what you said I will definitely try it.

Thank you.

OH GOD please more time so we can play those and other games.

@Dr-Muhannad  Thanks man.I have a small number of friends on Gamespot whom are big JRPG fans like me but yes it's hard to find true JRPG fans these days, especially since many people who liked JRPGs in the past say they don't like JRPGs anymore or because many people claim they're JRPG fans but they criticize many of the JRPGs from this gen and will play generic shooters instead.

If you like FFXIII I think you'll like FFXIII-2 because I think the love story between Serah and Snow is more believable and it brings back the charm of older JRPGs(such as having bigger towns/cities and NPC interaction)and an interesting new protagonist(Noel)a great new and interesting antagonist(Caius)and an interesting and mysterious female character named Yeul.

As for recommendations for Final Fantasy games and JRPGs,Final Fantasy VII is arguably the most loved Final Fantasy game and I think it's story is very unique and has a creative mixture of Sci Fi,evil corporations, aliens,an ancient race(I hope I didn't give any spoilers just then)and it's plot twists are incredible and it has a love triangle and it's story is very psychological at times and little details in the story and with the characters make you care about the story and characters. Also it uses a great mixture of atmospheres(dark, polluted futuristic city with slum areas as well as lovely tropical areas and quaint country towns etc.)

Final Fantasy X is very loved and it's story really drew me in,I'll try not to give spoilers away but I'll tell you a bit of what to expect,it starts off in a futuristic city and then the main character wakes up 1000 years in the future in a world that's mostly filled with nature)and I found FFX's story and world to be fascinating, interesting and it's story has big surprises and you can never guess what will happen next.FFX provides a lot of tropical atmosphere and it's world is influenced by Thailand.

Persona 3 and 4 are JRPGs I highly recommend because those games encourage you to socially interact with your party members and NPCs in the world and to build relationships with them because doing so actually makes your characters Personas stronger(makes your party members stronger in battle)and it has date sim elements and they have amongst the best turn-based battle systems I've ever experienced.

FFXII HD and FFVII CC HD have not been confirmed but I am hopeful for them.Since FFX is being rereleased in HD,I wouldn't be surprised if FFXII was and I  think FFXII would be suited for a HD makeover because it's graphics were based on technical realism more than artstyle.I think it will suck if people who've never owned a PSP cannot play FFVII CC since the Vita has a lack of BC.

Yakuza 4 has one of the best stories I've experienced from this gen(and I play lots of story driven games)and it's story is presented in a way that it focuses on 4 different characters at different times but the 4 seperate stories come together and it's story is quite emotional but also inspirational at times and you can date Japanese girls in it :P

So, is there still hope for Final Fantasy vs. XIII getting made?  It looks pretty sweet from what I've seen.  I hope that do make it.

@Garrison_Ford  last year I heard FF vs XIII's development went into 100% full production and I don't think they're going to let the work they've done on it so far gone to waste.I've had the feeling for a while it will come out very near the end of the PS3's lifespan though(2014 or something).

Tales of Graces and Dragon's Dogma are definitely two of my favourite games from this year as well (though I think you already knew that :P). ToG is one of the few games released in recent times that delivered a narrative and a set of gameplay mechanics that were equally engaging for me. I've yet to pick up FFXIII-2, but that's not something I'm too concerned about right now, given that my local GAME branch seems to have plenty of copies still in stock.

Ni No Kuni and Yakuza 5 both caught my interest too. Still keeping my eyes glued to the radar for news regarding the localization of the Yakuza HD collection.

@Alchemist3001 FFXIII-2 is the only game I've had fun earning it's platinum from start to finish.Right now I need the treasure hunter trophy for FFXIII's plat and it's so tedious to earn and doing all the cieth stone missions got dull towards the end because most of the enemies for the missions were nearly the same as normal monsters just a bit stronger.I saw you haven't beaten FFXIII as of yet.I think FFXIII-2 is much more fun and better than FFXIII and some people who didn't like FFXIII or whom didn't even beat FFXIII played FFXIII-2 and loved it.

Most of the GAME stores closed down in the country I live in.I didn't know a Yakuza HD collection was coming I hope it gets localized because I enjoyed Yakuza 2 and 3 a lot and I love Yakuza 4 to the extent it's my favorite game from this gen. Also,I would like to be able to earn trophies for Yakuza 1 and 2 :)

@ZanarkandTidus Indeed, I got stuck somewhere near the end. There were a bunch of other games I had at the time that I wanted to finish, so I put it to one side with the intention of coming back to it later. I actually played the FFXIII-2 demo back when it first hit the EU PSN store and thought it was fun. I simply haven't picked the full game up yet because I've still yet to finish my massive backlog of other games. :P Most of the new games I've bought since then have either been those which I had been ultra-hyped for, or those which were typically very short and could be finished within a day or two.

It was a choice between GAME or GameStation. Both were under the same company, but I've always favoured the former over the latter. I've had some very bad customer service issues with GameStation. I think best example of that was when I asked the clerk if the branch had any Kameo: Elements of Power strategy guides in stock. He told me that he never even heard of the game, even though there was a copy sitting on the shelf right behind him... There have also been numerous cases in which I've bought games from them which didn't actually work. One such case was when I purchased what was alledgedly a first-hand copy of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. After looking at the underside of the disc, it became obvious that the game *clearly* wasn't first hand, yet they sold it to me at the standard price for a new game anyway. So quite frankly, I'm glad it was GAME that was chosen in the end.

As for Yakuza, I saw a post made on the GameFaqs PS3 board earlier today that mentioned a release on the Japanese PSN store which took place earlier this week on Tuesday. It's unknown as to whether or not the games will get the proper treatment that Yakuza 4 did, or whether we could wind up losing a lot of content. That's mainly because the original Yakuza had a lot of content cut from the original Japanese version when it was initially released on PS2 in Western territories. By comparison, its sequel retained a lot of the content from its Japanese release. The only official news I could find on it hitting Western stores dates back to mid-July, so I'm not holding my breath on this one. Still, it would be nice to get the first two games on PS3 so that I can have the whole collection on one platform. ^.^

There are no words to describe my love for FFXIII-2, is absolutely amazing by all means and i feel pity for those blind gamers who missed the chance to explore the huge and beautiful world of FFXIII-2, its heartfelt story, the amazing Boss fights and the breathtaking cinematics.

@matastig  I know what you mean man.I've had lots of people troll me on PSN and on Gamespot when I talk about how much I love FFXIII-2 because they said ''they know FFXIII-2 sucks because it scored only 7.5 on Gamespot'' or because ''FFXIII sucks so it means FFXIII-2 sucks too''  and they won't listen to me when I told them FFXIII-2 improves upon FFXIII in many ways and brings back the true JRPG charm.

Ni No Kuni makes me think about how much I loved the old school JRPG,I so can't wait for it.

Yeah, I'm hoping to get some new games for my 3ds as well. One of the ones I am planning to get is Paper Mario Sticker Star as well. Tales of the Abyss looked interesting as well.
