blah!
I had an awesome dream about whales last night.
I was going to the beach with my dad, and we took a route that doesn't exist to a beach that isn't there.

We got to the beach, and parked the car, and went around to the front of the kiosk and put our stuff down on the sand. The beach was a small bay/cove, that sometimes was quite small and sometimes quite large. It was semi-circular, and there were no dunes. The water was relatively clear, a green-blue colour.

In the water, there were shadows, and the moved really quickly. Somehow I knew they were whales. Humpbacks, because that's the kind that we get around here. But the thing is, they were shaped more like sea-lions, or seals. They were still blue, and rubbery, but they were quite small. Some of them were the length of a car, some of them were much smaller, like seals. There were some proper sized ones, the first one I saw was really big and doing a classic whale-jump out of the water. The smaller ones had really long flippers on their sides, and their tails weren't like those of a whale.

This is where the awesome bit starts. We never went in the water in the dream, but the whales were swimming really close in to the shore, effectively doing circles in the water, one 'side' of the circle being along the beach. Then, they started jumping out of the beach, and sliding along on their bellies on the sand, all the way along the beach and then back in to the water at the other end. They were whizzing along like penguins, I guess. Some of them got stuck, and had to wiggle around, but they all ended up in the water. They were the length of someone lying down.

That continued for a while, and we were watching it and everything, and the whales in the cove were getting bigger. We wanted to take pictures, but we didn't have a camera, and my phone doesn't take photos anymore. There was some comment passed between us about how my mum never lets us use the camera. The normal-sized but not normal-shaped whales were jumping out of the water, and creating waves that were washing up on the beach. The beach started to get washed away, and we had to try and not fall down into the giant crater that was getting created.

Then, there was no water in the bay, and it was as if we were standing on a big cliff looking down on where the water of the beach had been. There was a huge huge huge, bigger than normal, whale taking up the entire cove, lying on the sea bed as if it were beached. It was covered in sand and it was wiggling and calling, and the sand was breaking off like it was a film covering it, Eventually all the sand was gone, and it was no longer whitey-green looking. It was a dark blue all over, and it was a humpback. The water came in again, and it escaped, and then we left to go home, only to find that the car-park where we left the car was almost gone, only the corner where our car was and a bit that let us drive out was there.

Slightly more than one week.
Hey everyone.

I have slightly more than one week til my history exam. I'm about half way through writing my revision notes, which has taken me almost two weeks. So somehow I have to do the same amount of work again in half the time.

Problem is, I've only been starting work at 2pm. I've been waking at about 12... or 1... or later, and then I need to shower, have something to eat, and it's 2 o'clock all of a sudden. It's dark by 5-5.20, and after that, I don't feel like working. In the time that I have been working, it hasn't been solid.

See my problem?
I think I'm going to have to try and go to bed early tonight, and wake early tomorrow.

In other news.
My supervisor wasn't so bad last week. But the b*tch said to me, instead of 'hello', 'are you going to work harder this week and not answer back?'. I just said yes. It's bad enough that she felt like saying something a week after, but she didn't even get it right...
Okay, here's what happened. There was a women in the doorway of the staffroom, a patron. She was asking for something, and I went to see if I could get it. Now, patrons aren't allowed in the staffroom, she was barely in the doorway. So the supervisor, who was unluckily in the room, asked me what the patron wanted, and told me to make sure patrons stay outside. I told her what she asked for, and that she was already inside. Apparently that counts as answering back.
So you can imagine how I felt last week when I got told to work harder so the same thing wouldn't happen... my effort was never called in to question in the original incident. It was complete bullcrap. If she tells you off (a second time!) for some perceived slight, she should at least remember what the perceived slight was!

Anyway. I hate her.

I've started reading The Lord of the Rings again. It's a little hard to decouple the actors from the characters... and some lines stuck in my head from the movie are a little different from the book... "Is it secret, is it safe?" is one that distorted my reading of Gandalf telling Frodo to keep the ring safe to the extent I had to read the line a few times.

I've finally played the GRiD demo. It's pretty decent. The voice over guy keeps calling me Alexander, because my name wasn't in the list you choose from. I figured I'd go with the virtually exact translation, but it's still really weird. So I've decided that while the names MEAN the same thing, they aren't really translations of each other.

I've also played the Civ Rev demo at last. Pretty good, pretty good I must say. But it still doesn't REALLY make the cut. It's not true Civ. For one thing, its easy. Gold is so plentiful and what's with bonuses for gathering a certain amount? Everything is way to fast- movement, building, you name it. And you don't get enough control over production and food etc. The cities pretty much function the same as they do in Real Civ when you turn governors or whatev on.

That's all I can think of for now. I've become leader of The Fable Union, but most of you reading this will already know that. I'm glad that for once a leadership of mine isn't because someone has dumped a dying union in my lap.

I'm going to read now. Bai bai.

I'm cold.
I think it's actually winter now. It's about 18C inside, and goodness knows what outside. I don't like it.

But anyway. First semester finished on friday. I have one exam only, but that isn't until the 30th of June, which is about three weeks away.
I don't even know where it is, because it's not in the normal exam hall, but rather in a classroom at uni. But all the timetable says is "Seminar Room, Napier".
The whole of Napier is made up of Seminar Rooms. That's pretty much what the whole building is. You know, it kind of rules out a few floors, because they just have offices, but not really.

Anyway. I'm sure I'll figure it out.
I've decided I hate the supervisor at work. She's just not a nice person.

Should I get the latest Katamari game?
I still play the demo, and I think it's fun; it's a game where I actually do feel compelled to try and beat my highest score. But on the other hand, I think it's full price, which I'm not really willing to pay. Thoughts?

That's pretty much it, for now. See you around.

I'm so totally drunk right now.
I apologise for spelling errors and bad tryping in advance. BUt I am seriosuly drunk.

Um. It's the last day of the teaching semester, so, I went to the unibar with some of my friends... and drank a bit.
I was at the refectory at like, 1 or so, and I was like, I need at least 2 or 3 drinks.
Needless to say, I had more.

Seriously. I was there from 1 to like, 5, or 5.20, or something like that.

I had:
1 pint of strongbow
1 pint of pale
1 pint of dark,
1 schooner if stronfgbow
1 schooner of pale
1 pint of pale,
1 pint of strongbpw
1 shot of tequila

I can't even begin to add that up right now.

My bus ride home wasn't boring. I don't know how, but I ended up buying 4 shots of tequila, one was for someone I don't even know but I think was called Richard. When I got home, my mum could tell I had been drinking straight away. My friend couldn't even get the ATM to work. I did.

Ninja Gaiden demo= okay. I like DMC better. DBZ whatever demo= pretty good, + I don't remember the Saibaimen...

Now I have to go pretendd to my dad that I'm not drunk while eating dinner.
I decided to do the history exam

Do we have a Lucky Volunteer?
Does anyone want to volunteer to write my history essay?
It's 2500-3000 words, arguing that 'to understand developments in Aceh in 2005, one must constantly refer to the situation in East Timor at the beginning of the decade'. Due next tuesday.
Of course, constantly acknowledging that the fall of Suharto allowed both situations is necessary too.

There will be a prize for the Lucky Volunteer.....*

(*There is no actual prize.)

If I don't do the essay, I can do the exam instead. 6 mini-essays in 3 hours, from choice of 12 topics. It's about a month away though.

Yay for 1-0 against Iraq, not a fan of Harry Kewell, but onya, mate. And nice to see Djite get a cap, he's going to be golden in a few years.

Riding motorbikes through the subway in GTAIV is fun.

I hate Comparative Politics.

Freeze!
Ok. Random blog.

I'm not any further in GTA. Not really. It's still fun, but i realised just now that my problem with it is, although I know it's awesome and excellent, I just didn't get hit with any chemistry. I love the music though. No Sex For Ben, the mix of Get Up, Stand Up, and Goodbye Horses kind of makes me want to dance, in a creepy way.....
(I hope you get the reference, but I'm not serious there).

Um. I got the essay done. Was waaay easier than I expected.

I was just talking to the girl who turned me down awhile ago, about classical music. Anyone like Gnossiennes? And then I made a tactless joke to a friend whose long distance relationship broke up... "don't cut yourself!" "I'm worried about her, she's kind of depressed"... awkward. But a Joni Mitchell reference fixed everything. ('Why do fools fall in love?').

I feel sorry for retired people... I had a fair bit of loose time today, time I didn't use for procrastinating. What did little old ladies do before the Wii came along?

One essay, one paper, maybe an essay or an exam, and two quizzes to go!

(BTW I'm excited for Fable 2)
