  Milwaukee Brewers: NL Wild Card Champions

  

  For the first time since 1982 the Milwaukee Brewers will play in the playoffs by being the NL Wild Card winners. Wisconsin is going crazy right now, can't wait for the series to kick off versus the Phillies on Wednesday.

  I can't tell you how good this feels after never seeing a playoff berth for the Brewers in the 19 years of my life. Suffering through losing sesaon after losing season in the 90's and early 2000's was rough, however I still supported my team and went to at least 5-10 games a year.

  The Brewers build this team the right way, through the draft. Unlike teams like the Yankees (How's that 200 million payroll working for ya Steinbrenner?) and the Red Sox, the Brewers don't have the luxury of throwing lucrative contracts at star players, instead they draft players, develop them, and bring them to the big leagues when they are ready. Look at the core of this team: Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, Corey Hart, JJ Hardy, they were all drafted, developed, and then brought to the big leagues.

  The Brewers drew over 3 million fans this season, a remarkable accomplishment for a small-market team. This allowed us to make the move for CC Sabathia midway through the season, and has he ever come through for the Brewers. Compiling a 11-2 record, 1.65 ERA, 128 K's in 103.2 innings, and 7 complete games. Sabathia was a hoarse down the stretch, pitching on three days rest three times in a row, giving the Brewers the victory in his last two starts.
