Dear Grandpa Xbox
Dear Xbox,
It's been a long time. I remember when you used to be considered amazing. You were the start of something, and people really enjoyed you. They enjoyed you because you didn't pretend to be something you weren't. You were a game console and acted like one.
Then, your son Xbox 360 came along. He started out pretty much like you, but then he started to try to please everyone. He was trying to be cool to everyone instead of just being cool to the people who wanted to play video games. He didn't take it that far (until recently with the whole Pizza Hut thing and such).
But now, there is your grandson Xbox One (Stupid name isnt it?). He seems to be the antithesis of you. He's trying to be everything to everyone. He still plays games, yes, but he also can stream TV (which people can already do otherwise) and does many other thngs that are actually quite useless to the gamer. It truely disappoints me and I'm sure it disappoints you that your legacy may be ruined by this strange hipster grandson of yours, but I guess only time will tell. Maybe he will be something great.
Here's to hoping,

Call of Duty: Ghosts (First Look)
So, yet another Call of Duty was officially announced at Microsoft's Xbox reveal today. It didn't suprise me that another Call of Duty was coming out this year, but it did suprise me that they were actually making some fairly legitimate changes. That being said, I think that they have done some things very well in my opinion.
What they did right:
-New movement mechanics:
-Being able to smoothly glide over small obstacles makes gameplay much more fluid, and chases will be more engaging and less choppy
-Leaning around corners could be a great addition to the game if executed correctly
-Sliding will provide a new way to dodge and move around that iw much more effective than the previous diving that Treyarch has implemented
-New Types of Maps:
- The idea of getting to play underwater is an interesting addtion. This was somewhat used in Modern Warfare 2, but that was only one level and was more like a cutscene. This would be a very interesting way to play online as hiding would become part of the gamplay.
-The idea of active maps has already been used by Treyarch in maps such as Hydro in Black Ops 2, but the idea of earthquakes actually changing the environment is very interesting, and the active shadows will make for an interesting experience
-Other:
-Creating your own character is always fun. It makes the game more rewarding and long-lived. For example, I often play Halo with the sole purpose of trying to earn customization pieces for my character. This addition is always welcom as it adds unlockables
Overall, I think that this Call of Duty could really reboot the francise as it may not just be the same game with a new coat of paint. I was convinced that I wold not buy another Call of Duty until I saw this trailer, and I was so impressed with the fact that they made changes, I think I am going to purchase it when it comes out. What do you guys think? What has Infinity Ward done right? Wrong?

So, No More Skyrim DLC....
When Bethesda announced that they are going to take their development teams off Skyrim, I was really suprised. I remember them saying something about Skyrim having many DLCs, but I guess not. That being said, it's really a shame that they're ending the DLC so soon. Games such as Skyrim have a ton of potential to keep going as long as story lines continue in the form of DLC. I now feel very little drive to play Skyrim as I know there is not much to look forward to.
I hope you have something really good in store to replace Skyrim, Bethesda
Until then I guess I'll just anxiously await Destiny.

"Disappointing" Seemed like a great idea, but it's not in any way connected to the open world, which defeats the purpose in my opinion. Continue »
