GTA IV debut trailer
First, you should definetly go see the trailer. I mean now, go see it if you haven't. Done? Okay then.
I actually expected more out of this trailer. I expected shots of actual gameplay. By that I mean shots of the character doing whatever he can do in GTA IV, be in flying a plane, blowing up cars and what not. I didn't think I'd just see some fly by and elapsed time shots of the city. I am happy though that this trailer came out.
Seeing this trailer makes the game somehow feel real to me, and not just something in my head. The graphics also looked pretty sweet. I'm not a graphics whore, but I think this graphical overhaul made possible by the 360 & PS3 will greatly add to the immersion factor. I wonder what the final product is going to look like in comparison to this video.

Changing the 360
By now everyone who keeps tabs on the games industry know about the rumored (or real) new version of the Xbox 360. So the story goes that it'll have an HDMI port, 120GB hard drive and come in black for a limited time. Am I the only one who's kind po'ed at this? I hope not.
To me the real solution seems simpler than having to create a different model. Why don't they just make another cord that has the hdmi connection on one end, and then the custom Xbox connection on the end that goes into the console. I don't see why this would be a problem. The picture and sound both already come from the connection in the back. I've never seen any other electronics that use the same connection, so they shouldn't have to worry about it being used for nefarious purposes. Would it be to expensive to develop? I doubt it would be more costly than having to design the new hdmi having 360. Is this fix so simple that I'm the only one who has thought about it?
I don't mind that they're making a new, better version of the system I greatly enjoy. I just don't want to be left behind without the ability to get the most of out my system I can. I'd like it if Microsoft made choices for those who can't afford another $500 (CDN). Is Microsoft just looking for some extra dollar bills to line their pockets.
Like many others who got their systems for Christmas, I haven't had my system for very long. Now that they're going to release this new model I don't know what I'm going to do in the future. I definetly don't have enough money left after buying an HDTV, surround sound system and the 360. I was thinking about getting the HD-DVD too if it ever took off. I'm just not sure if it'll work at full 1080/720p without using HDCP compatible connections such as HDMI or DVI. Will Hollywood just cut me off because I don't have the newest hardware?
In the end it feels like I'm being had. I make a phat investment, and like any good investor I want a good return. It turns out they just want me to invest more and more.

Hard Times
We've all heard and read about the Wii's unavailability. How people are still lining up for the little system that could. I'm experiencing a very similar dilemma, but not with the Wii. I'm talking about a game actually. And not even a new game. This game has been out for quite some time. I'm talking about Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the Xbox 360.
How many people have had problems finding this game, beside many at launch. No-one, that's who. What is this world coming too. It's not like I'm looking in the Mom&Pop shops either. I'm checking the big stores, like Wal-Mart, and even down to Zellers. I've invested way too many man hours into this problem. I've been driven to phone calls now. What is it going to take to get my hands on this game. I know it's a good game, but come on. How hard can it really be for someone just to make an order and keep their shelves stocked. What, does every delivery truck mysteriously get hi-jacked every time it's about to stop in my town and they take all of the Xbox 360 games or what.
I'm almost going to have to order it online and pay the shipping fees, which is ludicrous. It's absolutely intolerable! Get your act together you damn dirty hippies!
