    Xbox 360.

I recently purchased an xbox 360. I had read the reviews for the system, indicating that graphically it was very competitive with the PS3. so far I've been pleased with the game, but in this generation of hard drives and online gaming taken to a whole new level, it seems that the days of making sure that a game created for a particular hardware set up was optimized for that system are over. I'm a big fan of action roleplaying games, so as long it has an engaging story, gameplay and lot's to do I'm happy. However, recently I've noticed that there seems to be less attention to tweaking the game to run seamlessly on the hardware. When Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness came out for the PS2 it had a lot of issues, not least of all, a terrible frame rate that would reduce the gameplay to a slide show at times. During that generation of consoles this was considered unforgivable. And to me it was unforgiveable. It was one of the reasons that game was on my top 10 least favorite games of all time. With this generation, game producers seem to put out games in whatever condition they are in and hope to patch a broken game later. Then they wonder why game sales slump. I don't want to buy a game if I know it's going to be broken. That alone prevents many gamers from buying a game brand new when it first comes out. A lot wait for reviews to see what is said about the game. That's what I do. Even triple A titles like Fable II, Mass Effect and Fallout 3 not only have huge technical issues with texture pop in or frame rate hiccups, but sometimes they will even lock up the entire system! It just seems ridiculous to me that we would buy a game for a console and have it run like it would on a low end PC. I mean, pretty graphics are nice, but not at the expense of the game play.

"Almost, but not quite" Really great game, but buggy and short on the main story. Continue »
