How do you relieve your tension/stress ?
I listen to Deftones and Rage Against the Machine (they're music bands, in case you don't know).
What are some cathartic stuff you do?
Scratch? Bite lips? Pick off skin on fingers until get to pink layer (I do that, unconsciously)? Pinch yourself? Bang your head? etc.
It might mostly be unconscious, and you're not aware you're doing it unless someone else tells you.
The reason I'm asking is, I'm doing a research project (part of 3rd year course) on people who self-harm/self-injury (among substance abusers). I'll be meeting these people/patients in the clinics and those places, and doing questionnaires/interviews and stuff. Very exciting, can't wait. In a book, I've read that cutting themselves is their way of relief. Obviously, to go to such a body-harming stage, it's not just the stress of your typical 9-to-5 job though. But still, similar parellels.
Fact about self-harm (cutting/burning/scratching):
It's not suicidal. Majority of people do them specifically NOT to commit suicide. But some people who have attempted suicide also self-harm. But the definition of self-injury is its non-suicidal.
P.S. Has anyone seen "Jacob's Ladder"? Just watched it (heard it was inspiration of Silent Hill games). It's a psychological thriller.
If you liked:
Memento
The Machinist
The Jacket
Identity
Butterfly Effect,
Then you'll love Jacob's Ladder. I sounded like a commercial there.
P.P.S. Just thought of a few topics for next MoeFo Cast. Yay!

America just got PWNED Hard today! (graphic content)
PWNED like these dudes:

Well, whaddya expect? $700 BILLION not going to us, but to the banks again?
This game is making my GOTY list. Easily.
I just wish Epic taught other developers how to use their UE III engine, because nearly every game that used it has the exact same problems (texture pop-in, popping of other sorts). ONLY EPIC knows how to make their ugly engine look good. That's the ONLY problem I have with the game.
Or maybe UE III isn't designed to handle colours, and therefore no wonder Gears 2 looks so great.
Maybe Denis Dyack was right on this one???
