Mass Effect 3 in 100 words.

Like its predecessor, the game is better than the sum of its parts. Examining all of its aspects separately, like the combat, AI, mission/level design, scanning mechanic and overall writing, it falls flat. But as the game completely revolves itself around uniting the galaxy against the Reapers, you get caught up in the grand scheme, and you're almost instantly hooked into the adventure. It's also the main reason why the multiplayer, while very simple, is pretty engaging. But unlike ME2s suicide mission, the payoff of taking back Earth, given all the running around you have to do, is embarrassingly weak.

Something funny about Mass Effect 3.

I've been breaking the mold with this game's story and multiplayer for the past few days, ever since my brother gave it to me for free after recently receiving the trilogy pack as a gift.

Game's pretty fun so far, like a tighter, bulkier ME2 with slightly less contrived level design and a surprisingly engaging online component. Lighter in role-playing aspects, even moreso than ME2. But that's not a negative. The series finally embraced the fact that it's a grand action game more than anything. That's for another blog though, when I'm close to finished with the game. I wanna talk about a fairly minor, but rather humorous aspect.

Walking about, touring the Citadel, I noticed an additon where you can now interact select pedestrians who are quabbling with each other on a particular issue. If it's between two people you can support one of the two, depending on what they're talking about. These actions go towards gaining your reputation among the people.

Not a bad addition per se. I just find it funny how Shepard feels like he's obliged to butt into other people's personal affairs. Seriously, I know that he's the talk of the town around the galaxy, but just once I would like to see a person tell my Shepard to mind his own business, and stop being such a nosy prick.

Then again, I'm partial to blame, aren't I?
