Ups and downs of the PS3

Its been three months since I first bought a PS3. And its been a love-hate relationship so far.

First off -- I love the games. Uncharted, Oblivion, Resistance, the Darkness--- I've finished four games so far (in between family time and a real estate project), and they've been helping me keep my sanity every now and then. I'm now playing Assassin's Creed and Modern Warfare, while at the same gunning after the platinums on NBA2k10, Dead Space and Fight Night Round 4 (which I hear is extremely difficult given the online trophies). Great games, and the best is still to come (Up next I have Killzone 2, Resident Evil 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Batman AA, Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 lined up). Good times up ahead.

Secondly -- I love the machine itself. It DOES do everything -- from Bluray movies, to DivX, to Ps3 and Internet Surfing. I get a huge kick out of buying from the online store -- the concept of getting your goods downloaded straight to the machine for me is very appealling, and I think this is the wave of the future (Can you say Amazon Kindle and PSP GO???).

However -- and this is a BIG "however -- I hate the company. Yep, that's you SONY. Support is LOUSY in my country despite the fact that there is an extremely dedicated community of PS3 owners here. Since SONY hasn't officially launched here, there's no official support, and we have to send our units to Hong Kong or Singapore if we need things done. I personally am already on my second ps3 in four months. Last month, I experience the RED SCREEN of DEATH. In other countries, I hear those that have this can send their units in for repair easily. Here, the best advice we get from the traders and the Sony Service Centers is ---- YOU HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE. Lousy, lousy, lousy.

We already have your products here. You (SONY) already have service centers here, why not extend your Ps3 support as well? It seems like every other country around the Philippines already has your support -- why single us out? This country has a huge gaming population, and its growing steadily year on year. A little help, please?

    Oh well.

    Awestruck by Next Gen Gaming

God damn, do these games look great on HDTV. The funny thing is, I've only been playing Resistance Fall of Man and Oblivion GOTY so far --- these are games that people say don't look great compared to the others.

The quality of the graphics are wayyyy beyond anything I've seen on a PC or MAC. I think, to get this kind of quality on a computer, you really have to spend a lot. For the price, on a next-gen console, this is great. KUDOs to the PS3 and Xbox for bringing these games to the masses.

What really amazes me though is the quality of online play.... you get lag from playing Counterstrike, Left for the Dead on the computers, but for the PS3 -- COD Modern Warfare, Killzone 2 and Rainbox Six Vegas 2 -- lag is nowhere to be found. Its all smooth online community play, just the way I want it.

I'm in gaming heaven right now, and the BUY LIST is REALLY piling up. Getting Uncharted, Resident Evil 5, Batman AA, and MUA 2 very soon. And on the horizon, Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2 and Bioshock 2 are looming. Times are good. And it doesn't get much better than this. BOOOYEAAAHHH

    WOW! The PS3 kicks ass!!!

Wow!!! Just got my PS3 the other day. Bought a couple of games and boy, does this console rock!

Most of the games I got were relatively old... Resistance Fall of Man, Oblivion, The Orange Box, Assassin's Creed .... still, these games looked wonderful on my Samsung LCD! A couple were new (2009), and they looked even better! Imagine my surprise with Killzone 2 and Fight Night Round 4. These games are BEEEAAAUUUTTIIIFFUUULLLL!!!!

If these are any indication... I am definitely gonna collect more games over the next few months. Far Cry 2, Call of Duty World at War, Batman Arkham Asylum, Infamous, Fallout 3, NBA 2k10, Bioshock, Dead Space, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Resistance 2, Call of Juarez --- these are all hot targets right now.

And if the previews are accurate, then MAG, Modern Warfare 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Alpha Protocol, Heavy Rain, DC Universe Online, Dragon Age, Gran Turismo and Bioshock 2 will NOT be far behind. Where the heck can I find the time to play ALL of these games. Sheesh.

Now, if only I can get this thing going online....
