    What happened to Guitar Hero?

When I first saw the first Guitar Hero mentioned in PSM all those years ago I couldn't help but think no one would pay money to play fake guitar. It was a long time later when I was at a friends house I picked up Guitar Hero 2. I was hooked from the first time I played War Pigs. I bought the game for myself when it came out on the Xbox 360. I went nuts on it.

Now i am not amazing at Guitar Hero but I was able to beat it on expert after about a month or two. I loved the brutal musical stereotypes of all the characters and the outrageous stage antics. I also liked using cover songs. The band you are "playing" in arent Black Sabbath or Megadeth so they should have been covers (no matter how bad they were). Next Activision bought the Guitar Hero rights. They started using master tracks.

That was my first problem with Guitar Hero 3. Master tracks sound awesome but once again, your band is not the Rolling Stones, Slayer or Living Colour. This was only a minor issue to me, the setlist itself was awesome (especially for a metal fan). I thought it was a much better list than Rock Band. However: it seemed like the characters in Guitar Hero started loosing their charm. They stopped doing a majority of the insane things they did earlier in the series. They did more generic and boring poses. They lost the cheesy cartooniness that made the series so great. It also angered me that they brought in Brett Michaels to sing oncertain songs. I didn't mind guitarists because it is Guitar Hero.

Now It seems like they are slapping any skin on Guitar Hero 3 to bank on its success. Games like Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Metallica and now Hendrix all seem like fun.... but why not release a big track pack like The Who and Rock Band. Do we really need to buy a whole new game when we could buy them on-line for less?

I finnaly come down to Guitar Hero World tour. Now may I remind the world that this is GUITAR Hero. So why did they add drums and a microphone? Did they really mean to copy Rock Band in every single aspect including the grainy filter and general character design? What happened to the insane angry rampages of Lars Umlaut? Or the guitar humping of Pandora? Will we just have two clones of the same game? I want the old GUITAR Hero back.
