  Mass Effect 3 Ending. Quick simple reason why most of the fan base is not happy.

  The ending reminds me of a badly run Baskin Robbins. They have a massive sign saying 31 flavors. You walk in to buy the flavor you want to eat/taste. They give you a cone with the colors you're familiar with and you think "Oh man this is going to taste great". You take a bite and you realize "This tastes like crap". You tell the cashier / worker "Hey this doesn't taste like chocolate chip/ rocky road/ vanilla/ etc." And the employee simply says "Oh we don't have that flavor, I just gave you something close to it/ far between from it." AFTER he took YOUR money.
  
  What I'm trying to get at is this. The 31 flavors are the choices between ME 1 to ME3. The ice cream cone is what you created between ME 1 to ME 3 to enjoy and see it through. The bite to the ice cream is the ending of the series. The reaction to the taste is the ending of Mass Effect 3. The conversation between the employee and the customer is the people asking Bioware to fix their flavors (choices) that is supposed to actually change the ending.
  
  I played ME 1 to ME 3. I followed the series. I remember the devs talking about how choices from ME 1 would affect all other ME games until the end of the series. That's what I loved of 1&2&3 until the end. The ending literally destroys all replayability of the series, because no matter what you do. You only get the same 3 videos with different colors.

  It's not about being a hardcore fan. It's not about demanding a "better" ending. From what I can comprehend and collect from the unhappy players (be it a casual to hardcore gamer) is this : Last 20 minutes of the game is absolute crap. Not trying to offend the writers in any way, but I have to agree the ending is CRAP. I don't care if Shepard lives, dies, becomes indoctrinated. What I cared for was the conclusion. What I mean, and what MOST of the other players that are unhappy mean is this. It's the SAME EXACT ending video scene, no matter what you choose with three different colors. You tube it. Watch all 3 endings. See what I mean.
