My Top 10 video games.
I'm not a terribly active blogger myself, but i thought i'd share my top 10 games with you guys. The list if of course subject to change, but atm it looks kinda like this:
10. Aliens (Arcade)

Quite possibly the first game i ever played religiously. Every weekend i would use exactly one coin (never used two) and try to beat it at the local arcade. Sadly, i never did beat it at the arcades, but i eventually did it in m.a.m.e

9. Silent Hill 2 (PlayStation 2)

An engrossing phychological thriller with very mature content and exceptional soundtrack. I actually finished it on PC originally, with visual and audio glitches of course (my computer must have been the cause...i think). Man,i must have watched the E3 trailer like a million times.

8. Resident Evil 4 (PlayStation 2)

One of the most influencial games ever made, the perfect blend between horror and pure action, with an extremelly entertaining and exceptionally well produced story to keep things interesting.

7b. Devil May Cry 3 (PlayStation 2)

One of my most played games EVER. Among the best action/brawlers ever made, with a funny cast, incredible bosses, slick humour and tons of over the top action in both gameplay and story.

7a. Devil May Cry 4 (PlayStation 3)

My most played game EVER + see above, add some truly remarcable graphics and some of the best voice acting in the industry = quality entertainment !

6. Final Fantasy VIII (PlayStation 1)

The game that introduced me to the console type japanese RPG genre. Addictive gameplay, fabulous CG scenes, best voice acting ev...(yeah...kidding
), well, you know, one of "those" unforgetable games. Scoring a "lionheart" must be among the most satisfying moments for me as a gamer.>>>>>>>>>>
5. Streets of rage 2 (Genesis)

Forward, forward + punch = FUN ! Me and my buddy played the hell out of this game and it never got old.

4. Street Fighter 2 (Arcade)

I actually didn't play this game like ... A LOT. That's not to say i didn't play it, because i did, but what i "loved" to do was literally sit there for hours and watch the guys in the arcade playing it. It was heart-stopping every time.

3b. Metal Gear Solid 1 (TTS) (PlayStation 1/GC)

Ok, so now for the big guns. This one was an instant clasic. It had a never before seen combination of interesting and unique gameplay, great story with great voice acting, humour and very relevant themes depicted throughout the game. Some of the boss battles are to this day among the most original and impressive and virtually every character became an icon in the gaming industry.>>>>>>>>>>
3a. Metal Gear Solid 2 (PlayStation 2)

The follow up, while a little controversial because of it's main character and "almost" convulted way of telling it's story, was every bit as good as the original and in some ways better. The gameplay mechanics are improved, cutscenes now feature better direction, voice acting, motion captured animations and a lot of slow motion
The last hour of the game's story instantly reminded me of Evangelion's last two episodes and while not reaching the same level of "chaos" (in a good way), it was something unusually mind straining for a video game narrative.>>>>>>>>>>
2. Metal Gear Solid 3 (PlayStation 2)

The game i (eventually) bought a PS2 for ^_^
I only managed to play it roughly a year after it's release, sometime in mid 05, but boy, it was well worth the wait. This time the action was set in the jungle, like a true Rambo homage, and it introduced a variety of original gameplay mechanics, like CQC (a form of judo), interrogations, changing camouflage, and an intricate survival (healing and eating feature that worked wonderfully thourghout the game, as well as some of the most awe inspiring boss battles ever seen in video games untill then. The main attraction was the story though, which featured a colorful cast of characters to support a superb and emotional story which brought light over the history and motivations of one of the most pivotal characters of the series. My 2nd favourite game ever !

1. Metal Gear solid 4 (PlayStation 3)

The unrelenting vision of an auteur comes full circle.
This was imagined as a true epilogue to the MGS series (Solid Snake's saga) and one way or the other it incorporates [almost] everything in the past games, in a larger-than-life amalgam of pure bliss.
Initially i planned on getting a PS3 when MGS4 is released, but i ended up getting one for Christmass 07, so by the time the game was released i was 'prepared'
.For me, MGS4 represents the ultimate gaming/movie hybrid experience. The gameplay is more amazing than ever, with improved gameplay mechanics like crouch walk, ground roll, play dead, over the shouder aiming and great new additions like the OctoCamo, threat ring, MKII, and the story an epic journey towards the realisation of an ideal.
If Grave of the Fireflies is the most emotional story i have ever seen (i cried, i actually cried and i think one must be a statue not to), this has to be the 2nd most emotional. Numerous scenes gave me misty eyes, and i must point out the very last one (after the first part of the credits actually rolls in...sneaky), which i consider to be the most inspiring scene i have ever seen in a movie or video game, "ever".As relevant in it's message as John Lennon's "Imagine" and as unrelenting in it's execution as Oasis's "Champagne Supernova", the story of MGS saga comes full circle. Great graphics, superb cinematography, exceptional music score, humour, drama, over the top action, pure insanity, for me all these make MGS4 an unforgetable experience and my No.1 video game experience ever.
