    The wonders of unpredictability

Long gone is the supreme days of the Sony Playstation where this generation is bound to hold 3 consoles head to head in a long and tiring race. The blatant mistakes Sony made have cost them their throne as console king and the crown would have to be passed on to his inferior brother, the Nintendo Wii.

Nintendo Wii is in its own league where casual always comes first and everything with a Wii slapped to it would sell like hotcakes. It is definitely not a fad (quotes Reggie) but it is a gimmick, a gimmick that appeals to soccer mums and little kids. Calling the Wii a console is like calling the Honda Accord a racing car. Instead, the Wii should be categorised as a Toy Console. This is because of 4 category of people who buy it: bandwagoneers (people who follow the hype blindly), casuals (kids and people who call cooking mama the best game of all time), hardcores (people who buy the console for mario, zelda and all the 1st party goodness) and soccer mum (mums who buy the wii for wii fit).

The Xbox360 is a force to reckon with this generation unlike the 1st xbox. Microsoft is playing a totally different game, snatching the 3rd party exclusivity. JRPGs that we would never expect coming to the 360 came and some are even exclusives. DMC4, RE5 and more were snatched from their true compettitor, Sony and the biggest loss yet had just happened: FF13 became multiplatform. Their online is top-notch and they are trying to woo the casual crowd over from the Wii too. Microsoft is a master of copy and modification, stealing the compettitor's ideas and modify it to make it their own. However, with all these goodness, their hardware is shrouded by the infamous RROD which hinders alot of consumers from jumping in.

Finally, I would like to talk more about the Sony Playstation, since I am an avid playstation fan owning a ps1, ps2, ps3 and psp. I'm very disappointed with the way Sony has been dealing with things recently and I would like to declare, as a gamer, that Sony has lost the console war already. What is the factors that lead to Sony's success in the past? Exclusive 3rd parties, JRPG, plenty of quality games from different genres and cheap. What has Sony got now? None of the above. All of the exclusives were lost to the wii and 360. More importantly, the price they set at the beginning is a hefty $600. Unless I could see them securing more important exclusives (which I doubt they will), they will be fighting a losing war. I bought the ps3 to enjoy great RPGs but what do I get? Nothing. Great rpgs like WKS and FF13 won't be appearing till '09 and FFv13 would undoubtly be out by 2010/11. How about kingdom hearts 3? I'm not sure if it would even appear on the ps3 anymore. MH3? Lost to the inferior Wii. What are you gonna do Sony? You're making us gamers think that you've lost your touch in the key on winning the console war already.

This generation took me by surprised. Many things I've thought wouldn't happened, did. Nobody can depend on 3rd party to have the upper edge anymore. It is all about 1st party. Will Sony or Microsoft deliver? Only time will tell.

    TGS 07...totally disappointment.

No FF7 remake, no KH3, no ps3 price drop...

All these may sound terrible but actually if we break down the facts and everything, it actually makes sense for those not to happen at TGS.

FF7 Remake: With all the spectulation and stuff going around about a remake, it's inevitable that there will be a remake. But not now, not till all FF13 projects are done. When they find that they have the time, and FF13 sold well, the announcement will be coming.

KH3: The secret ending happens to be a trailer for the psp game. Sofor a psp owner like me I'm very happy. KH3 seem like it may come after a few years; I'm waiting to see if there's any secret ending in the psp game to hint a KH3 in the future.

40gb PS3: It will make sense not to make this annoucement. Why? Because if they do this, their current ps3s will sell worst as ppl will just wait for the cheaper sku to come out to purchase. I think they will annouce it when most of their current skus are sold off.

I'm still holding back on getting a PS3, may not be even getting any current gen consoles if everything turn out to be disaster.

Final Fantasy VII Remake...Why all the hate?

I'm one of those people eagerly anticipating for that holy announcement of a FF7 remakes and don't really see the logic in people hating Enix for "milking" this franchise. Alot of people requested and even plea enix to have that remake which logically doesn't seem like a milking to me.

Spend time and money on making a new game? I prefer that but they already are doing that (FFXIII anyone?). FF7 is just a sweet big FAT bonus to the majority of the crowd.

Bottomline is, hate milking? Don't buy it, don't even bother to post how you wish they stop milking Final Fantasy cos in reality, money makes the world go round. It's a sad fact but it's REALITY.
