Star Wars: The Force Unleashed from the damned Lucas Arts game studio attempts to capture the imagination with the most dynamic force system seen in a Star Wars title, coupled with an engaging story. The game begins with the player controlling Darth Vader as he wreaks havoc on Kashyyyk, taking full advantage of the euphoria physics implemented in this game. From here on, gamers experience the universe through the eyes of Starkiller, a previously unrevealed apprentice of Darth Vader. Starkiller's tasks consist of hunting down the remaining Jedi in the Universe and subsequently eliminating them. Furthermore, as Darth Vader's secret apprentice, the player will be tasked with leaving no survivors on the ensuing missions, allowing the player to enjoy annihilate militia and Stormtroopers.
The succeeding story is one that can be appreciated by gamers and Star Wars fans alike. The plot is a cut above the three contemporary Star Wars movies and the recent cartoon release. Epic tale aside, the game possesses a host of issues, ranging from an unwieldy force targeting system to a dumb A.I. The force targeting system can be tiresome because Starkiller often doesn't pick-up what the player intended, this is due to the targeting being based upon the direction Starkiller is facing in the game, as opposed to where the camera is pointed. This takes some getting used to, and can often cause the player to harm himself unintentionally, particularly in tight enclosures. The boss battles can also be on the wearisome side, prevailing against bosses proves to be irritating as the player may feel that they cheated to obtain victory; and the button combo executions prove to be anti-climatic.
For the most part, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed can have its better moments, whether your listening to a stormtrooper beg for mercy or pulling a star destroyer out of the sky. The game certainly delivers on what Star Wars fans want, with the empowering use of the force and a story that will surely be considered among the greatest Star Wars tales of all time.

Well, I suppose it was bound to happen, but I incorrectly assumed I had escaped the curse when my latest Xbox 360 had lasted more than a year...a undertaking to be sure. This box had lasted through two moves across the nation and a temporary red ringing. Then today, whilst relaxing to the Too Human demo I saw my screen had color distortion. This went on for a few hours of gameplay, resulting in an eventual red quadrant and an error message at startup. This is truly unfortunate, but at least the incident happened before one of my trips.

The following was taken from a thread created by karriston, a member of Gamespot for nearly two years. I thought this was too good to pass up.
So, Microsoft have said they're going to introduce requirements for ranked matches in all 360 games. Here's a breakdown of the article:
1: Labotomy.
The first requirement entails removing part of your brain. The procedure for this is quite painless, and afterwards, you may find you're more relaxed. Some side effects include: singing into your mic, using the word "n00b", team killing and becoming an anyoing 12 year old.
Don't worry, if you can't afford the operation, you can knock yourself over the head a few times, or if you have a low IQ (preferably below 50) that's fine too.
2: Lag / latency
The second requirement refers to the quality of the host's connection. You MUST be laggy to play ranked matchs, there's no way around this one. If you have a GOOD connection however, there are ways to make your game laggy, and therefore annoy other players: Turn on your PC and run Limewire, Morpheus, Bearshare etc. This ensures that your connection will be the worst possible. If for some reason you can't access these programs, downloading the entire internet while playing Xbox Live will do fine.
3: Be between the ages of 12-15 years old or 20-30 years old, and be as annoying as possible
That's right, if you're not 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 or 30 then you can't play ranked matches. However, there's more to it than that.
If you're 12, 13, 14 or 15 then you must have a squeaky voice, sing into your mic, think saying "I like pie!!!" is funny, use the word "n00b" and think Runescape is cool.
If you're between the ages of 20-30, then you must be patronising, sing into your mic (as you can see, singing into your mic is pretty much needed to play ranked matches), call everyone under 20 "Annoying 14 year olds" and, this is vital, you must have a conversation on the phone while your mic is turned on so everyone can hear it.
If you're not any of these ages, don't fret! All you have to do is breath in some helium every now and then, and throw the word "n00b" into every sentance or two.
4: Racism
Microsoft has taken a controversial move by making this a requirement. Let's delve deeper, shall we?
You MUST harass people who don't speak english. Xbox Live is ONLY for people who speak english, and you must make it your duty to rid XBL of those who don't.
If you're American, it's extremely important to throw an insult or two into every sentance directed towards the British. These include jokes about teeth, jokes about them talking funny, jokes about tea and crumpets etc.
If you're British, you MUST make fun of Americans. This can range from calling them obese Bible Bashing idiots to calling them stoned and spoiled.
If you find out that someone is not from either Britain or America, then both Americans and British must team up to frustrate and insult that person.
5: Reputation
If, for some reason, somebody has the nerve to kill you during a ranked match, then you are required to leave them bad rep. If they don't have a mic or haven't spoken for the whole match, then you should leave some bad rep to do with communications, such as trash talking.
6: Quitting
If you don't like losing, then Microsoft has a solution for you: quit! That's right, from now on, you must quit if you're losing. This is to make sure that your team will lose the match.
7: Headset issues
From now on you have to do one of the following into your mic: Breathe, moan, cough or sneeze. You must also make sure your mic echoes.

I have been participating in Gamespot's entry to the World in Conflict Closed beta...and I say "WOW!" The system I'm running on has a QX6800 and X1950s in Crossfire. Not exactly top of the line, but ATIs older cards are handling beautifully, with nearly every spec turned up all the way (exception of Physics). I haven't exactly gone in-depth with the game, but I have tried out Armor (I was useless) and Support (managed to bombard a few fools).
With 16 players online with a class system, fighting on this dynamic battlefield, this is an encouraging sign for where the RTS genre is going, and frankly worries me about far off titles like "Halo Wars" which is going to try to be good, while dealing with the immense limitations of the Xbox 360 hardware, magnified by the part where the game likely to come at the end or after 2008. This is truly a display of how the PC remains dominant over any console, not only in power, but in gameplay as well.

There are a lot of games out there with developers constantly vieing for your dollar with advertisements, events, and demos. The last of which can easily backfire. The recent Hour of Victory demo on the marketplace is a great example. Game demos mostly have mixed reactions, good game or not. You'll often find people who enjoyed the title regardless of glitches, controls, lag, etc.
However, with this title, Hour of Victory, the reaction was unanimous, the game sucks...sucks real bad. The auto-aim is atrocious, although it can be turned of in the game options, the A.I. is beyond dumb. This A.I. is on par with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. I know that game was good for it's time, just like Hour of Victory would fit right in....in 2002.
This is a real testament to how having an amazing engine like the Unreal Engine 3 does not guarantee you anything in the aspect of creating a good game. The developers of this game seem to have nothing truly invested here, look at Gamespot's Live demo coverage in which the developer refered to the "BAR" as the "Browning Assault Rifle [sic]."
Nonetheless, I would expect the team to be able to recoup and exceed development costs (excluding the liscensing of the Unreal Engine 3), since obviously nothing else was invested into this game. This is publishers wanting a quick dime to cash in on the summer drought in gaming.

Weapons
Magnum - The Magnum is much improved since Halo 2, dishing out slower, more punishing shots. But it's still not back to Halo 1 strength, as the clip currently carries just eight rounds and you can't zoom in. Still a nice, precise choice for dual-wield combos.

Energy Sword - The infamous Sword gets two tweaks aimed at balancing its overwhelming power. One change is a brief weapon-switch delay. The second adjustment is more controversial: the Energy Sword now has an ammo meter that depletes with each attack, which keeps players from hoarding it indefinitely.

Vehicles
Wraith - The lumbering Covenant Wraith returns with a new player-operated secondary turret. It's helpful for driving off boarding attempts.

Brute Chopper - This ugly, jagged Brute Chopper looks like something Firefly's Reavers might drive into battle. Its twin cannons nad heavy, blade-like chassis can pulverize lesser vehicles in a nanosecond.

Equipment
Radar Jammer - Hurl this item into a fight and watch as chaos and confusion engulf friend and foe alike. The jammer scrambles the radar of all nearby players and triggers disco-like light flashes to further disorient your prey.

Shrine - A UNSC battle cruiser looms menacingly over Shrine's sprawling sand dunes. Shrine is the largest map ever to appear in a Halo game, so Bungie put a key emphasis on vehicle-on-vehicle combat. Shrine has few ties to older Halo 2 maps, but its massive size recalls Relic.

Epitaph - Epitaph is an arcane Forerunner cathedral-like structure that towers above the surrounding wasteland. The central killing floor is crisscrossed with elevated walkways, exterior hallways, and lifts. It's a spiritual successor to Halo 2 maps like Colossus, Gemini, and Midship.

Last Resort - Zanzibar, one of Halo 2's most beloved maps, has been rebuilt and rechristened Last Resort for Halo 3. This industrial site is almost twice as big, with a less cluttered internal layout and more paths into the flag room.
Secret Map - Bungie sneakily sent us two mysterious concept paintings labeled only as "Work in Progress Map." We see the icey motif and pray for a new Lockout, but only Bungie knows the truth.

Welcome to the beta Crackdown users, you're really in for a treat. Initially I was not impressed by this title, with such a vast adjustment from Halo 2. But this is really just everything I wanted Halo to be, it is the perfect combination of the first two titles in the Halo Trilogy. The gameplay is truly fantastic with the Physics and much less auto-aim. I can't explain how much I love the Spike Grenades, it really builds into my style as an exclusive Halo player since my PC gaming days, I had to be getting a good 5 "sticks" a game and it's efficiency in whiping out people around corners is fantastic.
Needless to say, it's obvious that I feel great confidence in this game, and I feel myself playing this for years to come. It's a shame that my friends can't enjoy it with me. (not willing to buy Crackdown...but I can't blame them...neither was I)

So I'm building a new PC (I know its only been 4 months), but you'll notice that this system may not even be better than the last as far as the CPU goes....this one will be my first break into DX10 and will finally be sporting a chassis that is truly kick ass. The parts that aren't labeled with a price or a link I already own, and will be moving them over from some 3 year old systems.
I just designed this system today, so I'm open to any feedback or reccomendations and I welcome any comments...

I've been looking extensively at what CPU options are available and it came down to the FX 52 vs one of the Core Duos....I discovered that the e6600 is pretty much neck and neck with the FX 52 in benchmarks...so it came down to potential. And the E6600 easily ousts the FX-52 in this arena with the ability to overclock up to 33% with just the stock cooler...and up to 45% with a little investment in a Zalman or something.
Initially, I plan to have it running at somewhere around 3.0GHz...but eventually get it to 3.4GHz with the Zalman CNPS9700 LED (hopefully it will fit without any trouble on my mobo). So anyway, I'm seeing this PC as the "biggest bang for your buck", and I'm eager to begin building once I run these specs by some friends...

I will be upgrading to Vista within a month.

Now that may seem like a good number to some, it's really nothing to me, I've just decided that it's time for me to move on from the gaming industry and just play games occasionally. I'm moving to another hobby, Cars.
I've come to realize that games just aren't getting me anything useful, while knowledge and possesion of many vehicles can quite possibly be useful in the long run.
This hobby will be in addtion to several others I have, like shooting, weight lifting, martial arts, cross-country, Latin, reading, football, soccer (used to play b-ball, but don't have time to anymore).

25Nov 06Man...so many things I want for Christmas...but I can only choose one.
This was my list:

After much deliberation...I've got it narrowed down to the Wii and the Zune. I just don't know which one I want.
At one moment, I'll want the Wii and all the great games it has to offer...the next I want the Zune and all its great features.

22Nov 06Knights of Nine starts off with a ******* telling you that the *** of the ***** is coming

Anyway, it seems that in order for Bethesda studios to make this an entire 15 hours, they're having you do a lot of busy work at the start...but after you finish your first quest, your in for an exciting story-driven adventure on a quest to get all this holy armor. This "guild" is much different from others, in the aspect that your ultimate goal is not for selfish gain, but rather for the "nine." It's an interesting twist on the Role playing genre, and it will be interesting to see how the fans react. (not really, you get some cool stuff)
This is really a must-have for anyone who loved doing the guilds in Oblivion, and is a fan of Oblivion lore.
I also got the Xbox 360 wireless headset, and I must say that this is a great piece of hardware. While the voice quality isn't fantastic, it is most definently on par with the wired headset provided. It's really easy to use and just adds so much more freedom to your (now truly) wireless experience. Really a must-have for wireless fans.

Ok I'm back from dinner and a magazine, and I may say,... OMG! There
is just so much to go over but I'll try to summarize it as much as I
can in somewhat of a list, new stuff first:New "New" Info:
The New Needler:
IT IS NO LONGER DUAL-WIELDABLE!!! Not much is explained but they do
say that it is going to be made more powerful, balanced, and "usable".The Brute Ghost:
The only details on the Brute Ghost were seen in the 20-second
Single-Player Video (more on that later). It is summarized in the
magazine as a "bulkier version of the classic hover bike" shown in the
vid with a Brute climbing into it.Single Player:
The guys at EGM got a 20-second video of the MC "tearing" around a
huge industrial compound with gunfire coming from all types of Covenant
crafts including a hulking wraith and "what looks to be a new Brute
Ghost". There were "ships flying overhead, lasers everywhere, multiple
enemies all around etc". Again, EGM rejects us much info on the stuff
that no one else has...(More details to be revealed on Nov. 20 on the
Mini-Site)SAVED FILMS:
One of the things I am most excited about is being able to record
gameplay onto your hardrive or memory card. The best way to describe
this is as an example: Late one night you go into matchmaking and have
the best game of your life. You rack up 95% of your teams kills and
attain little deaths. You were playing like a GOD. The problem is, none
of yours friends were with you. Don't fear, as long as you chose to
save the temporarily stored video of the match, you can share your
glory! Start up a party and get all of your friends in it, then bring
up your saved video and launch it! The video will automatically come up
on everyone's screen and the host will be able to control play, pause,
slow, rewind, etc. while everyone else can choose how they want to see
it, be it First Person, Third Person, or from a "fly-it-yourself bird's
eye view". All I can say about this is, WOW.Game Settings:
No longer are certain things such as speed reserved for either one
person. That's right you can give all special traits to everyone!!! And
for even more fun, you can even give them to the leading/losing teams
in a match! But along with the old traits come a line of new ones. My
favorite is being able to make characters more visible, BY SETTING THEM
ON FIRE!!! You can even turn down gravity to allow people to jump twice
as high, and prevent certain people from picking up weapons. That was
all that was specofied in the mag but they say there is more...Voting:
Have you ever been in a party and the host is putting a gametype
that no-one wants to play? Well vote against it! This can allow people
to override the host's power. Whatever happened to the good ol' x
button?Advertising Customs:
Now you can put your custom gametype or even your custom game lobby
out there for everyone to see! This was Bungie's answer to custom
matchmaking...Ranks:
Now you will have an actual "military" rank in Halo 3. This will be
seperate from your matchmaking ranks and will include your overall
stats, ranked, unranked, and even customs.The X Button:

The Brute Spiker:
I doesn't launch orange needle. It launches two foot superheated metal spike which resmble orange needles.The Spike Grenade:
This thing latches onto ANYTHING. Covered with spikes, it will kill
a Spartan if it you hit one on the head with it, but will stay embedded
into it until it explodes: The explosions send out a conical volley of
spikes, conical being so that if you are in a certain blind spot near
the grenade, you won't be damaged.Spartan Laser:
Can penetrate through multiple targets...Grenades in General:
You can now only carry two of each...thats wack...Man-Cannons:
Yes you can drive anything into these "cannons" but heavier things, such as the Warthog, won't go nearly as far...Valhalla:
I personally don't think it is another Coag or BG, it IS a large
map but it is balanced so snipers and heavy rockets don't rule it...Snowbound:
There is a lot more to this map than there looks. The bases seem to
be pretty large undergound and there are also linking tunnels and
pathways. Energy shields (more on that lower down) protect many
entrances and if you get too far out into the barren winter tundra,
sentry turrets will shoot you down...HighGround:
My favorite map, the battle revolves aroung the main base with
openable/closeable front gates. There are numerous entrances and hiding
place inside the structure such as a blown out bunker or a small
"crouch" pipe.Energy Shields:
This IS old new stuff, just less known I guess. Anyways these
energy barriers won't let some grenades through the mag doesn't explain
but apparently spike grenades stick to them. I'm not going to go to
into these things because most of the info is already out there...Ummmm, if I remember anything else, I'll tell but for now, this is it...
