    Why do I play games?

    Because they're fun.

Not because I want a challenge. Not because I want to be told a story. Not because I want a deep political/ethical/pickle-related statement about the world. Not because the graphics/sound/value is good. Not because the game was a good deal when I bought it. Not because I want to be able to say, "I beat that nonsense on level four, BURN!" and somehow that should instill respect. Not because I want to review them. I play games because they are fun for me to play. I like to play them.

I came to this epiphany a bit ago. I wonder why it took me so long. It also finally helps me understand why the average video game review is useless.

P.S. One Day as a Lion is amazing.

I don't have a favorite color, Symphonic Pink Floyd, and various other things

I have no idea what color I should get for my iPod nano. I'm officially getting one; my old MP3 player has been corrupted to the point that any computer that tries to access it will crash instantly. But I really don't have any preference for what color I should get. It was easy for the DS Lite - I didn't want the pink, and the black smudges up, so I got the white. This iPod doesn't have such qualities, so I'm free to shoose whatever color I want. And I don't know.

I found a CD called "Us and Them, the Symphonic sounds of Pink Floyd" at my library. It's Pink Floyd music orchestrated with a symphonic band. I think it's extremely funny. You can hear clips on the Amazon page.

iTunes 8.1, oddly enough, is very good. It's a memory hog as usual (it's playing a song right now at the same amount of memory if foobar2000 were playing seven songs at the same time with the equalizer pumped) but the organization is wonderful and looks nice. I think someone's going to have too shoot me now; if I actually learn to love Apple, I think my entire existance would be for nothing.

I can see the last four words of my biography: "He loved Steve Jobs." Yuck.

Oh, also at the library, I found a CD that I grew up with: the Animal House soundtrack. Hearing the CD is nice (I remember the tape, which was terrible quality) but the nostaliga is there. It's a random CD to have memories acossiated with, but galldarit it's a pretty darn good record.

I'm obsessed with OK Computer again, which certainly didn't take long. The thing's ten times better when I actually know what Thom Yorke is saying, and Electioneering is among my favorite songs ever.

    How do they do it?!

EDIT: In honor of my iPod nonsense, I wrote a review on an iPod game.

After all my moaning and groaning over free software and how iTunes is the worst program ever (because it is, on Windows) I find myself again looking at reviews for the new iPod nano. I want to buy one.

This is mainly because my existing machine, the Creative Zen Stone, isn't cutting it. I need a screen. I need names of songs as I listen. I need cover art and video (and 8 GB for $130 at amazon.com ain't so bad!).

But do I need a vendor lock-in, as I keep bemoaning against Apple and their evil ways? Despite knowing this, I'm still looking at getting one. My MP3 player is like a computer without the computer; now that my desktop's down, it would be exaggerating that I feel lonely without a good MP3 player, but I do feel a little unhappy.

I'm going to install iTunes 8 now. I'll come back in a while and complain bitterly about how much it stinks.
