I can't believe it. It's been a year and a half - a year and a half since I last stepped foot into my GameSpot profile. Sure, I posted on the forums now and then to fight off withdrawal, but now I feel like I'm stepping into a home that I abandoned. I don't know how many of you are still around, but it would make me happy to know that some of you are alive and well.
My life's been all over the place, but in a good way. First of all, I'm a student at the University of British Columbia, where I'm half-assedly getting my Bachelors in Political Sciences. Why a half-assed degree I probably won't ever put into practical use? Because I'm going to be a cop, which pretty much means that any degree will put me up for hire. I'm already joining the Canadian Forces as a member of the Army Reserves to get my foot in the door of law enforcement. Why these changes? It's a mix of becoming a bit jaded, and wanting to become Batman. I also drink now... sometimes.
Gaming-wise, I've slowed down tremendously when it comes to variety. I finally got around to playing Persona 4 last year, which was an amazing experience. BlazBlue is stealing an unfair amount of time from my other games, as usual. And finally, I've recently become addicted to League of Legends, which continues to sap hours of my life, daily.
With the change to a more military-driven life, I've picked up Longboarding as a new sport of mine. You get hurt a lot doing it, but the fun outweighs the pain. Nothing like going 60 on a hill, only to drift through a corner with your buddies next to you.
And my girlfriend? Still with her, and going strong.
So there you have it. I don't think this means that I'll be coming back to GameSpot, but a good friend of mine recently reminded me of this home I used to have, so I just wanted to blog it out for the first time in a while. Hopefully, I'll be back someday.

its been the same for me. i post on forums once and a while but my over all use of GS has droped to all most nothing the last couple years.

Lol, funny how the one day I decide to visit my profile(or anyone else's for that matter) after neglecting it for the better part of this year, it's almost exactly the same day you decide to come back and give us all a little life update. Well, I'm glad I caught it while it's still fresh, unlike your farewell blog post which I regretfully was waaaaay late for. Nice to see you that you've kept busy during your absence. I hope the whole law enforcement thing paves an enjoyable path for you through this thing we all refer to as "life." I'd tell you to make yourself more of a regular on the forums, but I rarely poke my head in there anymore myself. At least try not to be a stranger here in your blog from now on. That is, if you can find the time. I'll keep a weathered eye on it, I promise. Take care my friend.

I'm glad to hear you've found something that gives you strength and purpose. I remember last time we talked via PM, you mentioned you were thinking about becoming a cop, it's great to know you've stuck with that; becoming Batman just sounds like way too cool an opportunity to pass up.
I always wanted to play through a Persona game. In fact, I even got the remake of the first game for PSP but for some reason I got stuck grinding up levels and just put it down in favor of FFIV. One of these days I'll finish it.
I had a feeling you'd still be with your gf. When two reasonable, intelligent people get together, it is pretty hard to find something that will shake them apart. Of course, I haven't met your gf, but it seems inconcievable to me that hazelnutman would be with someone that isn't as spectacular a person as he is!

The League can be so damn addicting. I had been away from it for a good year until a bunch of friends started playing.
