Its been a long time last since my update, and will probably be a long time after this one. I go into *hopefully* my last surgery on January 3rd, so I have to travel 4 hours on the 1st to be ready for my pre-op on the 2nd. It's a bittersweet ending to the holidays to say the least. This is an exact year from my surgery last year (Jan 3rd 2012) so we'll take this as a good sign?
So Christmas came, and I might of got spoiled for the whole surgery thing and I got some wicked games. First up is Forza Horizon, the beautiful racing game on the 360. I'm very excited to try this. I also got Far Cry 3 which I started 2 days ago, all I got to say is HOLY CRAP. Everyone wrote this game off for months and now it's GOTY material, awesome stuff. I also received Binary Domain (heard great things), Spec Ops (excited to try the story), Dark Souls (I'm a Souls virgin). This is a pretty amazing boost for the collection to say the least. And to round out the awesomness is 2 2800 Microsoft Point cards. I also got a coffee table like book called The Art of Videogames, it's a beautiful book showing some amazing screens.
Boxing Day sales are huge in Canada, it's almost like Black Friday in the States, except Canada never has near the amount of crazy deals. It did put some great games on discount though so I picked up Space Marine ($9), Lego Batman 2 ($20), Dirt: Showdown ($20) and Amazing Spiderman ($30). I wanted to play Spiderman since it came out so it'll be nice to jump into it soon. I was tempted to get Borderlands 2 for $40 but I figured I can just borrow my brother's.
All this is kind of torture in a way because I'm pretty sure most of January I won't be playing any games, so knowing I won't get to experience most of these for a long time is very sad/scary/annoying. It's also in a small way exciting because I know once I'm healthier again I have much nerdiness to consume. Must...consume...nerdi...ness.
Now, if any of you are thinking "Hey, Immortality20, where is your end of year lists? WHAT GAMES DO YOU LIKE??!!" for some odd reason, I can't in sound mind write that yet. I haven't got to finish Walking Dead, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2 and Forza Horizon yet. I hate wirting lists when I haven't yet got to exerience all the great games that came out this year. Everyone was complaining when 2012 started how dry it was for releases, but there was some truely memorable games this year. I know 2013 will destroy it though.
If wondering or caring my next review will probably be Sleeping Dogs, I finished it last week after pouring 40 hours into virtual Hong Kong. It was a very great game marred with some technical bugs. Still lots of fun to be had though. Thanks for reading another blog and I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays.
