Lloyd's of London is preparing contingency plans for the end of the Euro
and they have made it their business to be aware of probablities.
For centuries now they have stayed at the top of the insurance business
by knowing how to bet on risks and it appears they are not willing to .....
'bet the bank' on the lasting power of the single currency which is in sync
with my estimation of the future for the Eurozone.
Especially in consideration of Christine Lagardes thoughtless insults
towards the people of Greece. While they have been suffering under
taxes they can not afford to pay and unemployment over 20% she has
called them tax cheats and accused the Greeks in general of trying to
avoid their responsibility towards Europe.
Poor timing just before an election. I predict this will help to elect
a leftist majority that will decide to leave the Euro. Perhaps this is one
of the elements that helped Lloyd come to the conclusion to hedge their
bets in anticipation of the European wide run on banks that could be
triggered if Greece leaves and has a run on their banks.
a couple places where I saw this story.

if you know anyone in NYC who has been ticketed or fined for
going with out a shirt then they really did not break any law.
according to a 1992 court decision women have equal rights with men
to go shirtless if they so desire and some of them are if only to
prove a point after a young lady was ticketed for being topless.
So guys, if you are tired of anime boobs and want to see real ones.
head to New York City which is an exciting town to visit anyway.
they have the Rangers, Devils, Islanders, the Knicks, Red Bull,
the Mets, the Yanks,Red Bull, the Knights in rugby
and Long Island Lizards in lacrosse
Sky Blue in Women's Pro Soccer -
you will find a sports team for any taste.
also there are several college and university squads.
and this is all in additions to the hundreds of wonderful hours
of sightseeing for a tourist in The Big Apple.
if you want the best hot dog in America I recommend
Grey's Papaya. When I went there I was expecting to
find great foot long Coney Island dogs and instead
came across Greys.
the hot dog is a uniquely American food that has always
been a favorite of mine.

I do still have Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome and use them.
but I have Max set as my default now.
I suggest you give it a try and I think you will be pleased

I really like Demi Lovato, this young lady has a pleasant voice and has
done her best to handle her celebrity and over come the challanges
that she faced by having stardom and money come at a young age.
It wasn't easy and she did have a hard time at first but didn't fall into the
easy ways of some of them and become an addict of liqour or sex.
and has gone to rehab for the problems she did face - cutting and an
eating disorder. I think she will be a better judge than what they had.
On the other hand we will have to wait and see about Britney Spears.
to be honest that lady was a has been a couple years ago.
and she did fall into the trap of too much sex and booze not long after
she started down the celebrity trail.
I don't believe it is necessary for anyone to stretch the limits of the
Terms by mentioning anything and her little sister Jamiefollowed the
path that was blazed by her big sis. Momma must be so proud.
- - I hope they did at least buy a new house for their Mum.
I predict that there will be a jump in viewers at first out of morbid curiosity.
and if there is a permanent increase it will be the faithful Lovatics
who will stay to support Demi.

there are a few good show on the tube but even some of them
are picked up from webcasts and how much longer will it be
before we turn exclusively to our pc for our viewing

television is also good for sporting events.
but many of them I can only watch on my computer, such as:
cricket, rugby league, Australian Football, Gulf League matches, etc.
I do think that we are close to seeing the day when the television -
will go the way of radio.
it is already fast becoming secondary to the internet just as the radio
in the past became secondary to the television.
important news items both local and international for example are already
on the internet long before any television broadcast and that was how
they began their take over of radio by first taking control of the news.
in the day of the mobile/cell it is only seconds from a occurrance to it
becoming a youtube phenomena and by the time anything makes the next
televised broadcast it is already old news

there was Newspapers, then radio, then television and now the Web.
now we are left to wonder....What comes next?

not because of the new router.
wire less will always have issues with disconnetions.
I finally got around to buying a length of cat 5 ethernet cable.
and I hard wired my router to my pc

I don't have to worry about
being at the edge of the wire less routers signal with a wall in the way.
now I also don't ever have to worry about the signal being dropped.
and my pc boots up quicker and everything operates a bit faster.

19Apr 12Been having serious issues staying on line lately.
two or three times a week I can't get connected.
called tech support at my broadband company and have
a new router on the way.
I've been using the same one for over 5 years...
so it is about ****** time!
I know we got by without computers for a long time.
But it just doesn't seem right to not be online - ya know...

17Apr 12My last couple of years I was working for the GSA!
Just read about the conference scandals and you realize this
is only 'tip of the iceberg' so to speak.
it was not only the VIPs though. While the they were living it up in Las Vegas
there was an administrative assistant/clerical worker convention that was supplied with
liquor, a buffet, jacuzzi, and both male and female escorts. This was in Hot Springs.
Just kidding about wanting to have been involved.
Had I known of something like this I would have tried to put a stop to it.
while RHIP that is only to an extent - there is such a thing as going too far.
I knew there were coast over runs and a bloated budget but that was normal procedure
in every government department. You could never admit to not needing every penny
of your budget and then some more or you would get less for the next fiscal year.
If that ever happened it would be very hard to get extra money on the rare occasions when
you needed an increase in funds for something.
Because you NEVER take it from some other area in your own department.
you ask for an increase in the federal budget.
the last thing anyone will ever do is admit they were given more money than they needed.
which is why cost over runs, waste and duplication are endemic in the Government. -
15Apr 12I am watching the NHL post season and since the Leafs did not make it.
AGAIN. I am cheering for the Caps - I hope Pokecharm's team makes a go of it.
When I get time to start gaming again I probably will finish up Oblivion on the pc.
unless I find some more mods and add even more content. and NO I have not
added the nude mods - some times it seems like 90% of the internet is porn
and while I love anime, manga and manwha it some times is difficult to avoid
all the ecchi/hentai....I admit I don't always manage to avoid it.
yaoi does usually at least have a nice story along with the pretty girls.
I also want to play more of Total War: Shogun 2 which is fascinating.
and I do want to play some of theshorter games before I get immersed in Skyrim. -
7Apr 12After having and egg hung and Easter buffet with strawberry shortcake and ice cream.
a day early at my house I'll be going up the mountain when I go this after noon to visit
family for a week...and I'll watch a few episodes of Rescue Rangers for training.
because evidently I will be a ranger when I return or I am one now or something like that.
not sure what being a Ranger means other than free cheese.
I'll be back.
next Saturday -
4Apr 12in Maryland.
One crimefighter confronted another on the highway. - not the freeway
if it had been a 'freeway' he would not have been yanked off the road.
He was not breaking any traffic regulations.
he had invalid 'batplates' on his black lamborghini - Batorghini?
he was told to get valid plates and the then officers each took a couple of
photos with the batman before letting him go on to his mission...
which was to entertain the children at a hospital cancer ward. -
3Apr 12Greece, Portugal, and Italy were in debt but the Spanish
government did not have a borrowing problem and furthermore
they maintained a balanced budget every year.
yet they are in an economic crisis now so what happened?
Spain made the mistake of joining the euro and while
interest rates fell in German and the government of Spain
resisted the lure of cheap loans the private banks and many
ordinary Spaniards did not.
thus they had a housing bubble similar to the United States.
the economy which grew each year before the euro...
began to shrink.
as in most nations it is the ordinary people who are being
hit the hardest and Spain does have a high percentage of
unemployed at the moment.
The firms lost little time in taking advantage of revised labour
laws that have made it easier to dismiss employees, cut wages,
and unilaterally change working conditions.
General strikes have been called by the two principal union
confederations and in Madrid an association of upper crust
escorts declared the will stop offering their services to bankers
until they agree to make loands to small businesses and familes.
was the euro a mistake in the first place?
and will the euro survive the present crisis?
has it been a success for anyone other than Germany.
as far as I can see only Sarko and Merkel are really
behind maintaining the euro-zone.
it really has not been a success for anyone else.

2Apr 12so you expel the settlers of an island and do not allow them to return - thus occupying it by force
then you say that these islanders are fully entitled to enjoy the right of self-determination.
I am to assume if you kick out the people who live on Jersey or Guernsey or Santa Catalina for that
matter and replace them with settlers who vote to become an Argentinian dependency.
then by the same logic there should be no argument.
since that is the same reasoning by which Las Malvinas/The Falkands are argued to be a dependancy
of Britian which is some 12,900 km / 8,000 miles away while they are just off the shore of Argentina
just 480 km / 300 miles offshore.
by the same argument Guernsey or Jersey could easily become part of Argentina just as they switched
allegiance to Germany for the years of the second World War.
of course for that period of time they did have the excuse of being totally abandoned by England and
having to survive the best they could under German occupation.
which leads me to wonder if it would be necessary to replace the Channel Islanders?
might not be that tough to convince them they will be treated equally well or better under a new regime
and if there is ever another invasion a guarantee of support and a food supply. -
31Mar 12Does that mean space ships will be guided by the alternative rock band Dead Stars?
or perhaps will they be guided by Elvis Presley, Humphrey Bogart, and Frank Sinatra!
x-ray signals from pulsars is just seems so boring compared to:
channeling the spirits of The King, Bogey and 'Ole' Blue Eyes' to help guide
you through the stars while rock music blares in the background
This story dead stars to guide the way deals with the pulsar guidance hypothesis
but made me think of something more interesting - science would not be so boring
if they didn't always expect you to limit yourself to facts.
My Chem Physics instructors didn't appreciate that sentiment would would
have accepted it if I could have backed up my position with evidence.
A bit hard given my stance that I didn't want to be limited by facts

30Mar 12Burma's pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi:
"What has been happening in this country is really beyond what is acceptable"
Burma's pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has spoken of irregularities
ahead of Sunday's by-election.
Speaking ahead of the 1 April vote, she said the election campaign
could not be considered ''genuinely free and fair''.
But the Nobel laureate said she was ''determined to go forward'' and
did not regret taking part in the poll.
The National League for Democracy (NLD) party head is expected
to win her seat in Kawhmu, south-west of Rangoon
In the constituency she is contesting, the names of hundreds of deceased
had been listed on the electoral roll, while those of more than 1,300 people
eligible to vote were missing, her party said.
Ms Suu Kyi also cited cases of intimidation and vandalism of campaign materials.
alright - I understand her concerns and the problem is Burma is new to democracy.
In the United States of America we are used to voter intimidation and attempts at
bullying by the two large parties.
also the cemetery vote is a long and hallowed tradition. it is how JFK managed to
get elected and he was arguably our best president.
Once a nation becomes used to democracy or rather the republican system where
you elect a select group of criminals to make your laws.
Then you become used to the necessary by products of this system:
the crooks...er politicians will use any means necessary in order to get elected
because once they are in officer they really, really want to serve the people.
Sorry I will be serious - they want their turn at putting both trotters in the public trough
story from BBC -
27Mar 12I was unsure whether or not to label this as 'news' or 'humour'
because while soliciting is still against the law pimping is legal.
in a famous case that made the news even here south of the border:
Street prostitution in Canada has been under increased scrutiny following the 2007
trial of Robert Pickton, a Vancouver pig farmer convicted of killing six sex workers.
and in articles from Canoe, BBC News, and the CalgarySun the Ontario Court of
Appeal found that the laws banning brothels and pimping violated the rights of sex workers by stopping
them from working out of their own homes or from using security or bodyguards.
"It's something that we take very seriously," Ontario's Attorney General John Gerretsen said,
concerning the sex worker issue.
"We want to talk to our federal counterparts on this. It's their criminal law that basically was
called into question here and they're the people that will have to deal with this issue if any
legislative action is taken," he told reporters.
The court ruled on three decisions made in 2010 by Superior Court Justice Susan Himel.
She had said that all three national sex worker laws were unconstitutional, and said brothels,
pimping and soliciting should all be allowed.
While the Court of Appeal backed her stance on brothels - calling the existing law "overly broad" -
and on pimping, with some exceptions, it disagreed strongly with her ruling on advertising or
communicating the availability of sex services.
That law should stand, the court ruled, saying the judge had made "several errors" in her original decision.
In her 131-page ruling in 2010, Judge Himel found the national laws violated a provision of
the constitution guaranteeing "the right to life, liberty and security".
How long before the United States Supreme Court decides to legalize prostitution on grounds that
the same principles apply to citizens in our contry? -

A pastor was hiking in the woods when a grizzly bear stepped into his path.
The bear stopped, growled, raised up on his back legs, and his mouth began
salivating.
"Oh, God, PLEASE!" the pastor prayed, "Let this be a Christian bear."
A placid look came over the bear and the bear dropped to his knees.
The bear said, "Dear, Lord. I thank you for the bountiful feast you have
set before me..."

They will agree and you say, "Now you know how I feel!.

Happy Norooz 1391 or is it 2571?

that depends on whether or not you use the Persian lunar calendar which dates from Kurush/Cyrus
which makes this the beginning of 2571 or the 1391 of the official Islamic solar calendar used by the
Government and by necessity most of the population.
For a third date of 1433 there is of course the lunar Arabic Muslim calendar.
Norooz means "New Day". It is the day that both starts the year and marks the beginning of the Spring.
With its' uniquely Iranian characteristics this holiday has been celebrated for well over 3,000 years.
you start house cleaning (Khaane Tekaani), and buy new clothes. But a major part of New Year rituals is
setting the "Haft Seen" with the 7 'S' items.
Seeb (apple), Sabze (green grass), Serke (vinager), Samanoo (a meal made of wheat), Senjed (fruit of the Lotus tree),
Sekke (coin), and Seer (garlic). Sometimes Serke is replace with Somagh (powdered sumac).
wheat is grown in a dish for after New Years to provide the growth of Sizde - green shoots which are used for
Sizdeh beh dar or 13th day.
13th day is a bad omen so you spend it outside and have picnic.
thousands of years ago Sizdeh began the tradition of 13 being unlucky
this day also began the tradition of practical jokes and pranks that we now carry on with April Fool's.
and if you count the days - April first always falls very close and some times right on Sizdeh bedar.
ALSO do not forget that if you are unlucky in love you should knot some grass.
this is the oldest tradtion in the world for good fortune in romance and finding a mate.
