Xbox 360 Accessories Tough on the Wallet

I have had a PS3 since around launch and I finally got an xbox360 from a friend who had it RROD. He decided to buy a new console and gave me the old one to send in for warranty. Awesome. I got my 360 back and started looking at what accessories I would need to buy to get it up and running. Holy expensive accessories, Batman! I didn't really appreciate the whole MS/M$ thing until now. Ok I buy a $50 controller and, oh wait! I gotta buy the $20 play and charge kit! PS3 you buy a controller and charge it with a standard usb cable. A $100 wireless adapter for 360? Owch. Yea I COULD just run a huge ethernet cable from my router to the 360, but, well actually I couldn't because my wife would never go for that. Wireless headset? $60? It sure is convenient that I can use my cell phone blue tooth headset on my PS3. That would've been nice if I could use that on the 360 as well. Oh and what's that? I gotta buy a hard drive for my 360? Dang. There's another $50-$120 down the drain depending on which option I decide on. Then let's talk about LIVE. Alright I know everyone says it is the definitive online experience and that PSN is a distant 2nd, but I gotta say I have played LIVE online a fair amount at friends' homes and other than having a lot more users online it is not that much better. PSN started slow for sure, wonky voice chat, no media bar or messaging in game, etc., but they have come a long way and I would have to say that the PSN experience is just about on par with LIVE now and what it does lack it makes up for by being FREE. So anyway, I'm no fanboy, I love my PS3 and I have wanted a 360 forever, there are great exclusives on both systems that I would deem must haves, but just wanted to say that even with a free 360 I am going to wind up spending $200-$300 getting it setup before I even buy a game. It does make me feel like in many ways the PS3 is far and away the superior machine. Now if only it wasn't getting the short end of the stick on the games development side so often...
