    Wii-tarded

Well, it's official.  The Wii's launch date and price have been announced, and it's left me, as the title implies, a little on the stupid-happy side of things.  But, as with all things 'ME-ish', I have to do my natural duty and be cynical about the very thing I have been so excited about.  Ready?  Me neither, let's go.

To be honest with all of you, I have no 'real' gripes about my soon to be new friend.  Call them minor frustrations if you will.  For one, the COLOR of the damn (beautiful) contraption.  True, polar white looks very clean, pure, blah blah blah.  Personally, I had gotten used to seeing some of the earlier 'Revolution' pics depicting a black console.  Heck, I have even seen pictures on the 'net showing not just black and white consoles, but also red and lime green(NOT disappointed about the latter not rearing its head).  The point that I'm getting at is that I don't want a polar white Wii.  I want a black one that won't be coming out until FSM knows when, and because of that alone, I will not be pre-ordering for the launch date........unless any of you out there have heard differently.

DVD playback cut from the list of features?!  Not a problem.

Other then the above listed,  the remote thing kind of irks me just a pinch.  By that I mean that you have to purchase not only the extra Wii Remote but also the Nunchaku to go with the extra Wii Remote.  That just screams to be bundled together in one package and the price not jacked up.  Call me crazy I guess.

But alas, that's about that for griping.  The launch titles look awesome,  the virtual console is going to be great along with the Wii Channels.  Also, the XBOX Live-esque way of communicating with other Wii users will be great.  I have a strong feeling that this console is gonna cause some damage!  I'm seriously wetting myself in anticipation here!  Catch you around sometime, and hopefully Wii will come in black soon.

    GameCube Wii-Haw! (This'll be short)

I have finally had to come to the fact that my 'Cube is going to be obsolete soon.  And since, when it comes to consoles, I prefer Nintendo, I must wait for Wii.  So what am I doing until the Wii drops? Heading to Gamestop and buying up all the 'Cube games I've been lusting after for the past couple of years.

    It's a GameCube Wii-Haw, if you will.

All those suckers, buying GREAT games, playing them for a few days and then getting ripped off selling them back to Gamestop.  That's where I come in and make out like a bandit with used games.

Thank you Nintendo for being backwards compatible with the 'Cube/Wii.  And thank you Gamestop for ripping of silly people.  You've made me a happy boy.

Fin'. (Told ya it'd be short.)

RIPPITY DOO! This Thread is SERIOUS!

And that's FINAL!  Anyway, now that I've cleared my mind of any and all stupid things dwelling in there, I can continue.  I've always had a love for gaming and usually the games feel likewise.  I've always seen it as an escape from the mundane into a world where anything goes.  Plus, I don't have to dress funny, wear a foam sword, and go LARPing with Germans.  A big plus.  (nothing against Germans, if you please. it just came to mind.)

Sit back (or lay down, your choice) and let everything go.  Problems with the Wife, frag some poor sucker on line.  Money problems, go head to head against 6 brutal armies in C&C Generals.  BANG!  BOOM!  ALL good.  BUT, I digress, there is a limit.  Just like everything fun out there, drugs, women, booze, cigarettes, to much is a bad thing.  This really dawned on me about a month ago, when I started at Activision Inc. as a QA Game Tester.  Yes, I play games for a living and yes, it's quite fun, but that's not the point.  There are some sad sad souls there, and to tell you the truth, it's ticked me off a little bit.

To start off, I'll explain something about myself.  I'm really not a geek.  I'm a normal looking guy, of normal height and build with a personality of one that has been kicked around the block just a little bit in life.  Fairly normal by my standards.  I've been into way to much drugs and way to much booze.  But I chose to be responsible for my actions and beat that. Even though it leaves a mental scar and a broken heart for the feelings I've hurt, I don't regret it.  It's part of life.  Experiencing all kinds of things, good and bad, make us who we are.  And I'm happy with who I am.  So is my wife.  My kid is still to young to comprehend such things so I'll vote for her.  She digs me.

Back to Activation Inc's QA department.  There are some people there that honestly know NOTHING outside of video games.  I've never been overseas, had to buy a XBOX.  I've never kissed a true love, had to go up a couple of levels in World of War craft.  F**K the world around me.  It scares me.  I don't want to get hurt.  I can't be bothered with being active, I have ONE more boss to beat!

    THIS CRAP TICKS ME OFF!

Why does this tick me off?  It's quite simple really: Reality.  These few people that this thread is about don't have any sense of reality.  Gaming has drug them down as crack cocaine does, except they can't see their genitalia.  They're so wrapped up in the delusion that WoW and DS LITE are the most important things on Earth that they have neglected they're basic needs and important life experiences.

But, in the long run, maybe I'm the one that's wrong for condemning people who choose to live like this.  After all, it is ultimately their choice.  I just hope that, for their sake, they open their eyes and realize, that this world is an amazing place.  With all kinds of awesome things to experience, no one should miss that.  Gaming is fun, but it isn't everything.  It should be enjoyed, but RESPONSIBLY.  Just because you can escape reality, doesn't mean it's a good idea to stay there.

    Out.
