First a quick note. Layton seems to have almost solved the puzzle in only 3 hours. I have all but two mysteries uncovered and it seems that I have solved a little over half of the puzzles. Perhaps the game is as short as the reviews said...
As for the title, I gave FE: RD another go today. First they decide to head for Ike, then they go into the desert further, then they go for Ike again, then they go for a larger army, then they seem to go for Ike yet again, and now we're going to be marching on the capital? Well, actually right now I'm stuck in a swamp
.
Izuka make up your mind! Better yet, just leave the army. They'd be better off without you!
As my last blog said, I completed LoZ: PH yesterday. So, starting up the next game.
There are certainly many mysteries going on, even just 2 hours into the game. I've even picked up on some that the professor hasn't noticed. It's certainly an interesting dynamic between the two characters. Luke is a hothead and Clayton is a gentleman.
As for the puzzles, my biggest trouble is understanding the directions. The puzzle with matches like a dog stands out as the worst. Reading all 3 hints didn't even help for a bit (for just understanding the problem itself). Directions aside (albeit a major issue), there have already been some great puzzles, tough but not impossible. Shaping up alright so far...
In case anyone is wondering where I am at about 2 hours in, without spoiling anything, I can say I recently caught a cat with glasses.
Thus far, it gets a B.
As a sidenote, for anyone else having troubles doing tricks in Mario Kart Wii, you have to wave the Wiimote AT the jump, not while in midair. Still have not quite figured out how to do wheelies yet, but the 100cc races are soon (two more 50ccs first).
Alrighty. I just finished the game. The Ocean King was predictable (I had his true form pegged for a while now).
Interesting final four fights (only minor spoilers, trying to avoid them).
Fighting the guards wasn't easy, but wasn't too bad after getting hit twice (going to try again sometime WITHOUT using the red pot!). I will say that the route to them was a lot easier with being able to take out phantoms
. I beat it in a little over 10 minutes, starting from the very beginning and making sure I had every single treasure, hidden or otherwise (got two treasure maps, two wisdom gems, one courage gem, and lots of rupees (and I'm already at 9999 rupees folks, with TWO beedle coupons (almost have platinum)).
Fighting the first boss fight was a bit tough to figure out. I lost a few hearts just trying to figure out how to fight it. Still, it went down fine after I got the hang of it, at least for the first phase (didn't even run out of arrows). The second phase was a bit harder, with myself being bad at drawing eights, I guess
. Still, not a problem as I just stood where it couldn't hit me anyways
.
Ship fight was a lovely one. Glad I have all of the stone set (and equipped). Still, it wasn't too hard once I got the hang of it. I've done so much sea travelling and that cannon game that my aim is pretty good. Only lost one or two hearts
.
Now the final final boss. Wow. First off, thank you for FINALLY giving Lineback something to do (albeit he still doesn't know how to fight
). That final one was nasty. It's how a boss fight should be. Took a while to learn how to beat him (and then finish him), but I managed to do it after quite a few attempts. While others may despise his tornado attack, I actually found it rather fun, trying to counter with my own (hint: only try the final boss after finishing the trading subquest).
So, all in all, decent finale. Actually, I wasn't trying to beat the game. I was just going for those two wisdom gems
. Just one more to go... I've almost 100% the game (besides ship parts). I still need to find the special beedle ship (any hints? I'm going on at the right time, but I haven't found him...).
And finally, Tetra is a NAG!

Well, I've always wondered if a plant eats another plant would it be considered a vegetarian? Vegetarian is a person eating only plants, so no, it wouldn't be a vegetarian.
Also, do you think SPAM will ever make a comeback? Sure, if Jericho (the show) ever really happens (let's hope not).
Lastly, whenever I see a cow, or any bovine creature for that matter, go into a man-made structure I can't help but think they're going to get slaughtered inside. Do you think there's something subliminal happening there? No comment
.
Stan:
What is your favorite sport? Do you practice any? Tennis and no.
What game you would've liked to make? Toughie... I have the most ideas for a MMORPG, so I'll have to go for that.
Your favorite books? Blink by Ted Dekker, hands down. Best book ever.
Nintendevil:
If there's a bee hive in your hedges, what do you do??? Spray then run. Repeat if necessary, then smash with then end of a broom (at least that's been my strategy for the many wasp nests we have). Another is to blockade it in (if it's in a hole in the ground, another one that happened to us).
Fionn:
What game has disappointed you most? Gameplay-wise, Mario & Luigi 2 hands down; the first was one of the best games ever made, and the second was mediocre at best. Overall, by far the biggest disappointment is Puzzle Quest; it was a GREAT idea for an RPG, so awesome, but the developers destroyed it with such a dark storyline and straight out nudity!
Rhen_Var:
If Kingdom Hearts III came out for the Wii but was based on CURRENT Disney Shows, would you still buy it? Even if the 1000 shadow boss fight was the entire cast of High School Musical? Considering I didn't pick up I or II, why would I get III in the first place?
AveryMarx:
If you were given 10 minutes to live what would you do? Good, another toughie. I would make my peace, both with God and with my family (neither would take long, good relations with both). I might even talk to my father one last time in the hopes that he would change his ways...
Vivi:
How did you find out about Gamespot? Found it looking for reviews and game guides.
Electrum:
it is worth buying a $1900 alienware laptop??? No, not at all imo. The point of a high-end computer is that it's incredible now and has the ability to adapt to future technology. Laptops are hardly adaptable to future technology, at least not to the degree of PCs.
Foolz:
What do you think of the wii overall? Mine isn't quite working right with the motion sensors, so my experience is a bit lower than expected. Personally, I like using standard controls on the wii, so I don't think the revolutionary ideas are affecting me that much.
Do you like the new banner? HECK YEAH! MadeInFinland made it (and that's the rough draft
). I really like it!
WizzyKid:
What got you into gaming? Sonic the Hedgehog 2, specifically the second metal level with the water that rises at one part. Friend could not beat it worth squat while I watched. Then, I asked for a go at it. You can guess what happened next
. (Thus, first console was the Sega Genesis with the first game being Sonic the Hedgehog 2
).
Napalm:
What do you think about being active on this site for 5 years running? Wow, didn't even notice. I have hardly been active for five years. More like a year and a half when you take out all of the breaks
. Still, it is rather fun to have a rather high level
.
CRMan:
What is the best thing that happened to u in your entire life???? Another toughie... two come to mind. First are the times I've really felt close to God and was really giving myself to Him. Second was winning a battle vs. my father to get homeschooling back, jumping my schooling back on track, ending up with entering college as a Junior by credits with a math major almost completed, not to mention finishing Calculus III at the start of my Senior high school year.
SonicZero:
If your brain's the size of a nugget does that make you a chicken? Uh, no.
It's been a while since I've done one of these. So, go ahead, ask as many questions as you want. There's no limit (although some may not be answered
). I'll answer in my next blog.
Ah yes, seems that I asked a lot of questions too soon. I completed a lot of personal tasks in LoZ: PH today.
First, I wandered around the first island, looking for any treasure I missed. Besides the annoying chest (last blog), nothing else was missed. Still, when I returned, mailbox was bouncing around. Ended up that the final Power Gem I was looking for was in a mail delivery! So, my red fairy is now fully powered up! ![]()
Then came the interesting part. I went to Molida Island (if that's what it's called
). FINALLY beat the archery! YAHOO! So now I know about the 50 max arrows and made some good cash from treasures.
However, the part you all came to read about took place after all of that. I scoured Molida Island for missed treasure and found a gap very similar to that with the annoying treasure. However, I figured I could beat this one as it had a barrel across the way (use the grappling hook). Unfortunately, I busted the barrel, releasing a... CHICKEN? Anyways, not one to give up, I figured I would try tossing the chicken across to see if I could use the hook on it instead (long shot I know
).
I missed! Instead of tossing the chicken, I ran across the gap holding the chicken over my head! That's when I learned one of the strangest parts of this game
CHICKEN CAN FLY!
Holding that flapping chicken let me cross the large gap! Go figure
. So I got that treasure map and then returned to the main island to finally get the annoying chest.
Got back, grabbed a chicked, and flew across the gap, the white fluff over my head
. And you know what was in that annoying chest? It was a Zora Scale... only $50... a trifle...
. I got 100x more from the archery challenge (got three Pink Corals, priced at 1500 each
(plus other stuff) ).
Ah well. It's all the chicken's fault anyways! ![]()
