Still on the new build.
Well, turns out that it 100% was the motherboard that was faulty. The online retailer has dispatched another one out to me, but since it was saturday whent hey sent it, I probably wont get it 'till tuesday. Monday if I'm lucky. Been seeing a lot more benchmarks for systems of a similar setup, realy excited to see this computer in action.
Also, E3. This year wasn't the best, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. I had a great time watching all the live coverage that gamespot had to offer, and as usual, I loved their floor show. I practicaly turned nocturnal watching it, since I live in Scotland (quite the time difference from L.A.). Nothing realy suprised me or anything, but it was great getting to see some of the big new titles in action. I say new, most of them are sequels.
Highlights of E3 for me was probably fallout 3. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game, people on the forums seemed to be pretty over critical though. I don't think they can get their head around the fact that it's an RPG not an FPS. Actualy quite like the look of Gears 2, wasn't excited for this in the slightest, since the first one didn't offer more than 8 hours gameplay (and I'm including the multiplayer) but it does look more promising.

New PC Build Pt. III : The Saga Continues
Okay, so the parts showed on wed' and I'm still banging my head against the wall trying to get this to work.
Here's my problem. I get a CPU INIT error on the little LED screen. It doesn't even make it to post. I tried using just one RAM chip, and in each of the slots. I tried resetting the CMOS (tho I wasn't 100% sure on how it's done I'm almost certain I was doing it right, but it didn't seem to make a difference). When I switch it on, all the lights come on, the fans etc. Just no beep or no post. I disassembled it and reassembled it, put the CMOS battery back in, and it posted once. Problem was, it didn't recognise my USB keyboard (I forgot to plug a ps/2 one in). So it powered itself down and wouldn't post again. Again, I took out the battery, took it to pieces and rebuilt it. About 3 hours later I put the battery back in. Then I got it to post again, but almost as soon as I reached the BIOS it would power down. This time though, the LED screen said DET RAM or sometimes EN SETUP or just a clock, all the LED lights on the motherboard were green, indicating normal mode. Rather than green, yellow and organge - which are different lighting sets for different overclock settings. Anyway, this time I couldn't get to the BIOS fast enough to change the voltage of the RAM from 1.8 to 2.0-2.1. And then guess what? It stops posting again. So this time I take it appart and take the battery out, leave it overnight and rebuild in the morning. Rebuilt, wont post. What's wrong?/ different. Why does it post sometimes and refuse other times.Sorry for the wall of text. Unfortunetly the ASUS support site is god awful and I'm still waiting for a reply, so you guys are my last hope. I'm certain I/we can get this to work, as when it did post and when I did get into the bios I could see all of the hardware, so surely if it was a component other than the motherboard it wouldn't have shown in the bios.
