The Resurgence of the 'Adventure Game'!

This is my first blog..... so please be patient!

Firstly - i'm a 28 year old gamer, i own all 3 of the latest gen of consoles,.... and I've pretty much seen it all. Played every AAA title going from 'Golden Axe' to 'Assassins Creed 2'. If you are anything like me then you'll remember whatI like to call 'the golden age of gaming', when games came in big cardboard boxes with massive thick manuals, games shops looked more like library's and gamers were scrambling for the latest Lucasarts adventure rather than the latest FPS such as Halo.

what the hell happened to the adventure genre? What the hellwent wrong with 2D games?

    and so we begin!

As you may have guessed..I grew up on Monkey Island, SamN Max, kings quest etc. Even text adventures like Wild Bunch on the Speccy,I hold dear to my heart.... and could gladly play again today... and do. Along came decent 3D graphics along with the Playstation and 2D adventures we're gone...... forever... or maybe not. Don't get me wrong, i relished the new fangled 3D prowess of the new generation of consoles. It was like having an arcade machine in your own home.... which was always the goal back in the day... and they accomplished it!

    I made a recent discovery

If, like me, you thought graphic adventure games went on a permanent holiday with the advent of 3D graphics.... you're wrong. In fact, they never stopped being produced... just pushed underground. I recently started visiting a website that i happened across via google www.adventuregamers.com

this site is a dedicated adventure game resource with reviews, previews and news for both recent and retro adventure games. They even have a shop where you can buy recent games for very low prices and download instantly. You will find a veritable gold mine of top quality adventure titles that you've probably never heard of, but will relish all the same!

the graphic adventure resurgence is evident with games such as Sam N Max and Monkey Island making recent appearances on both PC and consoles.... jump on board and see what you've been missing.
