My Friends

25Jan 09

Towards the beginning of January I set out 10 Goals, ambitions and desires for the coming year.

Well yesterday i managed to achieve one of my ten goals.

Attend a sporting away game. I've been a fairly loyal supporter of Swansea City for most of my life but I have never seen an away game at a non-neutral location (Wembley, Millennium Stadium etc)

Fratton Park Portsmouth 24th January the Day that Portsmouth Football club slowly limped out of the FA Cup. The FA Cup holders we out played, out muscled and out c-lassed by Championship Swansea City. Swansea for people who don't know are the best passing team based in the English footballing structure.

ProZone, a British e-learning and learning technology company, which provides managers with an in-depth view of individual and team performances. For the season 2007 – 2008 Swansea had an average of 556 passes with an 89 per cent completion rate which is some 50 plus passes more than Arsenal and almost 11 per cent greater.

Anyway, I had the pleasure of watching Swansea school the FA Cup holders yesterday and the huge displeasure of visiting one of the worst stadiums ive ever been to. The now derelict Vetch Stadium (Swansea's old stadium) has facilities on par the Fratton park. I'm still staggered that a stadium as poor as Fratton park is even alowd to facilitate premiership games. In the Milton End the seats were so close together that you had no option but to stand.

Without going into a full match report Swansea won 2-0 and progress into the 5 th round of the FA Cup.

Here are some picture.

Left to right. Dimitrios Konstantopoulos - Swansea's man of the match. Swansea City Fans, only 3000 fans due to the poor facilities at Fratton park. Alan Tate and Jermaine Pennant on the floor.

Left to right. Gorka Pintado and Sol Campbell. Jason Scotland being closelined by Hermann Hreidarsson. The Winning team.

@iliastse. Dimitrios Konstantopoulos was outstanding, You had a feeling when he tipped over a Peter Crouch Power header in the first 5 minutes that nothing was getting passed him. As good as Dorus De Vries (Swansea No1) he is nowhere near as good as Dimi. Swansea should make his loan period perminant. Next up Fulham FC, another team that will allow Swansea to play and fingers crossed also be defeated.

Woah with a blog title like that I had to come and read... I thought I was going to get something completely different! Hey congrats on the first of your 10 "achievements"! I set myself one this year - I want to learn how to snowboard. There is a snow dome near where I live so I am going to book some lessons in the next few weeks. Wish me luck, the last time I tried to learn to snowboard I badly twisted my elbow and it has never been the same since...

Shame on you two! Do you really think i would Blog about that kind of playing away from home? Well at this point any sort of “playing” would be worthy of a blog post. But i don’t think i would circulate pictures. The older i get the more women are mystifying me. **NOTICE** all women in the world. Football and computer games are items both close to my heart don’t try change me and i will watch all the uninspiring, mind-numbing girlie films you want. Hell I watched 27 dresses to appease a female once.

Congrats to Swansea. How long did it take to get to Portsmouth? Id like to see an away game but I hate travelling.

@Big_Bad_Sad. Left Swansea at 9am and got to Pompy around 2:00pm. But that was with a 40 minute stop in a services. It was an effortless journey, the main problem was the last few miles which took almost an hour.
