Where is my 'SAVE BURGER TOWN' T-Shirt?
Ok, lots of games churned through over the past month or so.
I'll start with the worst: Divinity 2: Ego Draconis. Let's just say this doesn't belong on a console to begin with. Very clumsy menus and controls. Actually, the power went out due to a storm about 30 mins after I started playing. A most obvious sign, but why I played another 4 and a half hours more later on... ?
Next up, played through Frontlines: Fuel For War. A basic Battlefield series clone. Average in every sense.
Played through Conan. Great ideas - poor controls. I really enjoyed this game up until about level 4 or 5, and that's because as the combo moves get a bit more difficult they have to be applied with inhuman speed and precision. Also, really bad final boss.
Played through Stranglehold. Again great idea overall. But, ahh, what could have been? Love the movie Hard Boiled too!
Colin McRae Dirt. Best racing game I've played in a long time. The torphy trucks are my favourite. Played through the whole career with great enjoyment... for once. Hope the second one is just as good.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I hired this out for a week as I was very sceptical about this one. The single player is an over the top, dumbed down, melodramatic come rag. On veteran, it's a walk in the park, with the exact same design problems, even more check points - Oh, and every now and then the enemy shoots strawberry jam at you. Spec Ops is a glorified clone of Halo: ODST's Fierfight. Speaking of - The multiplayer has many 'new' Halo ideas as well. After a week's play I was bored of it. This series is turning out to be like EA's sports series, where they only make an actual new game every few years or so.
Played through Splinter Cell: Double Agent. This game I found rather weird. It's got all these cool gadgets and great kill moves, yet it is encouraged not to use any of them for the sake of stealth. I don't get it? Anyway...
As a big metal listener, I had to give Brutal Legend a try. Soooo, disappointed with the gameplay. The characters and dialogue was good though.
Also, tried out Red Faction: Guerilla. Well impressed. Will have to get this as well as Dirt for a proper play through.
Finally, I got Fallout 3 GOTY. Have only put in 6 hours or so and am loving it. One thing that is so refreshing is the urban setting as opposed to generic, cliche'd medievil... you know.

Red barrels will one day have their revenge.
After playing through a few games over the past few weeks, I'm starting to settle in with Mass Effect. About 15 hours in so far, and am thoroughly enjoying some proper science fiction.
I was well impressed with Medal of Hono(U)r: Airborne. A refreshing change from the COD series. Although, I must point out, while playing this game and COD: World at War at the same time, it is easy to see what both games are lacking. I've played Airborne through twice and am saving the harder difficulty for another time. With COD: World at War, I've finished it on veteran (sigh) and I don't know what's more appealing: the fact that I finished it on veteran or that now I've finished it on veteran i'll never be playing it again?
Another game done is Legendary. I knew this wasn't going to be a great game, but it is not as bad as gamespot make it out to be. There were some really good ideas thrown in there, unfortunately the execution of them as well as the general gameplay was not successful.
Finally, Fallout 3 GOTY Edition, is out! I've been wanting to play this game ever since it came out and I've held off from knowing/seeing/hearing anything about it until this version came out. I'll be getting this in the next few weeks.

Shock Trooper gets malaria from Nazi Zombie
I know I have said in an earlier post that I wouldn't bother getting COD: World At War, but I have. Played it through on easy for the hell of it and have done five or six missions on the hardest setting so far. And to be honest, playing on the hardest difficulty is a joke - just like Treyarch's other mediocre attempt with Call Of Duty 3. Playing both games on this difficulty reveals how poorly executed some parts of the levels and AI really are. Apart from your basic ability to play the game, to get through certain parts of levels, dumb luck is applied. Which means, no matter how skilled the player is, dumb luck is the difference between getting through sections. Add this with terrible AI and you have a game that is frustrating for all the wrong reasons, hence I've mostly been playing multiplayer.
Far Cry 2 was one of those games I savoured and didn't want to rush through. Alas, It's over and finished. So, the only thing to do now is to start again. Easily one of my favourites!
Halo 3: ODST. Let me first point out that I'm not a Halo fan. It's not that I don't like it, but it's more that didn't/couldn't get interested in it. So, why did I get this game? I don't know - It was for the hell of it. I think also it was for the co-op too. Anyway, knowing it was a short endeavour, the campaign was not too bad and finished through. The non-linear story kept me from saying, "oh, yet another FPS to play that I probably lose interest in before i finish it." One thing I must say is that the graphics look so clean and plasticy that everything looked unbelievable and fake. Or, said another way, too perfect. I'm now halfway through on legendary going solo.
