Apple - You Disappoint Me
And you all thought I was some sort of crazy Apple worm fanboy..
We begin a couple weeks ago... A friend and I had just completed a long session of Warcraft 3. I quit the game, we chatted about our most recent victory, and my friend pointed at my computer, inquiring "What's that??" I shot a look just in time to see something no Mac user wants to ever see- the dreaded:
A kernal panic. The rare, true OSX crash. I became instantly concerned, because these types of crashes don't often occur unless there is a serious reason for it.
I decided perhaps it was some sort of fluke, and restarted the computer. However, I got another kernal panic before it had finished booting- and I officially knew something was seriously wrong. Rather than restart again quickly, I waited, and my worst fears were confirmed- my logic board (motherboard in Apple terminology) was compromised. How did I know? My screen was flashing like a strobe light.

These sorts of things happen. Hardware failures, while uncommon, are still possible. So I decided to call Apple. After discussing the details with the rep, he informed me the repair would be free, and they would send me a box, free of charge.
So, why am I disappointed in Apple?
Never before had I waited longer than the span of 4 days to send a computer, have it repaired, and have it sent back. However, this time my patience was tested.
Not only did it take more than the guaranteed 6 days to be repaired, but they also shipped it back to a location that wasn't what they had detailed in the return email! Not to mention the fact that the online repair status differed from what they would tell me on the phone.
Yes the reps were always nice, and helpful. Yes, the repair was free (and they threw in a new battery to boot). But this entire repair experience is very unlike Apple support, which is still amongst the best in the tech world.
So I'm disappointed. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, Apple. You've wronged me only once.

A Tour of my Home
I just moved! Though I'm not totally done moving in, this gives you an idea of my new place. It's small, and I made sure of it. For a guy who lives by himself, you don't need much space (and less is good when it comes to cleaning).
