Well, FireSpirit, you were right about the game's story. It's quite a convoluted mess, not to mention the dialogue in the script is just... awkward as hell. That being said, I still find it to be a fun game and even did a few of the extra levels (as Snake, can't say I'm a huge fan of MG's Raiden), which were originally in the Substance version on the PC, PS2, and XBOX (original).

After I beat the game (I'm fighting the multiple RAY's), I'll probably WAIT until I get to MGS3: Snake Eater HD, so my brain can stop being full of f***...

On an ending note, am I the only one finding it rather questionable that fighting game centric website, Shoryuken is STILL covering the Smash Bros franchise? Hardly anyone at that site seems to be a fan of the franchise (actually gets a lot of flak) with a major reason being that it can't be decided on whether or not it belongs in the fighting game genre (though I think it belongs there, but that's just me) and as far as I know, other fighting game websites refuse to even mention that series.

Granted, they don't seem to be big fans of Mortal Kombat or anime/manga games, big example being Dragon Ball Z (as that series had TONS of fighting games), but it makes more sense when they cover those, and heck, a lot of them like at least ONE game in each series:

MGS2 was amazing...you are playing this whole series wrong.

Also, it is over a decade old, so many games have copied it, so many innovations probably don't feel as fresh as they did in 2001.

Multiple Ray's?Your probably done with the game by now :P Its honestly my favorite in the series since I'm  kind of burnt out on 3 & 4;Plus it has missions for when I just wanted to play for a few minutes or so(especially on the go).

That reminds me,have you experienced the madness of Snake Tales External Gazer yet?

MGS2 was fun due to the gameplay and boss fights but the story and the twists were painful to watch and go through. There are two characters in the game that I really wanted to throw the controller at my TV screen whenever they talked to one another.

@Seabas989 My mom was watching my brother and I play and she just DESPISES Rosemary after knowing what personality she has after her talks with Raiden once you save, thinking her to be one of the worst female characters out there.

She is less offended by "sexualized" female characters.

lol Told you it was nuts.

Though as you can tell from Revengeance, Raiden does improve.

Raiden improves?

Because he turns into a violent monster? Only enjoying a character if  he's a 'badass'? Yet you didn't like him when he was a regular, relatable guy. It's clear you're just in it for the shiny graphics and explosions.

@ShadowofSonic

(Sorry for the late reply).

No need to get hostile, brah. I just brought that up because nintendo seemed to have an issue with him. Perhaps I could have used something different besides "improved" but since I figured ninty was fairly new to MGS I thought I'd let him interpret Raiden's apparent character reconfiguration as he sees fit.

As for me, I personally never had any problems with Raiden in MGS2. He didn't come off as dorky or awkward (at least compared with most other characters in the game), and as a playable character he seemed just as compitent as Snake. Also, I don't know if I'd call being a child soldier "relatable", but I can see where you're coming from. As for being into it for the "shiny graphics and explosions", though, there were tons of out-of-field character changes in MGS4  besides just Raiden's, so I just chose to roll with it. :P

MGS2 is definitely the type of game that you should finish once you start. The latter 3/4 with Raiden is a tad confusing with all of those long-as-hell codec calls but it's all understandable once you play the sequels. My first MGS was MGS3: Subsistence, then I played through MGS2: Substance, MGS: Twin Snakes, and then MGS4.

I had good times with that DBZ game. I think my cousin gave me that game. I don't have it anymore but I remember how fun it was :D

Metal Gear Solid 2 is one of my favorite games ever. The story is a bit difficult to wrestle with, but I ultimately find it to be one of gaming's finest narratives. What starts out as a somewhat interesting cyberpunk story ultimately ends up as a true postmodern masterpiece that forces players to confront what it is that they expect from their entertainment medium of choice. A truly intelligent (if awkwardly-translated) game whose brilliance most won't realize because they're too busy crying over having to play Raiden - a character who, not coincidentally, is supposed to reflect the average player.

Man, I'm not gonna lie. MGS2 was my first Metal Gear game, and one of my favourite games of all time. Just you wait, Nintboy, the story makes PERFECT SENSE as the series goes on. You are NOT going to believe how well it ALL comes together.

Oh, man. MGS2. I hate that f*cking game.

It'd be the worst MGS game if 4 didn't exist. Actually, maybe it is worse.

Anyway, MK9 and budokai 3 are boss. Love those games. Maor plz.

@DarkLink77 I was reading your comments on MGS2 in that recent thread. Damn bro (though as much as I like the game, I don't blame you). lol

Sadly, I personally haven't played MK9 or DBZ: Budokai 3 yet. But luckily, I do have the consoles necessary to play them in range. A 360 (not TOTALLY mine as it belongs to everyone the family) and a PS2 (had one for three years now).
