My voice heard through a woman's privates.
It is a little known fact that when the invincibility code is enabled in Goldeneye, bullets go right through James Bond. Also, when finishing Facility, one usually stands on the conveyor belt so Alec can move far enough away from the explosion. Why state the obvious? The reason is that my friend and I discovered that when Alec kneels down to be shot you can stand in front of him and block the General's bullet. After this, some hidden dialogue will be spoken and you will be given the option kill Alec yourself (So the story will make sense). But in order for all this to happen, you need to turn off invincibility and stick around after the alarm sounds. If the cheat is enabled the bullet will pass through Bond and kill Alec. After my friend and I witnessed this we immediately went online to find out more hidden secrets that are contained within the game.
Both of us had just received the Internet for the first time and the on line community that awaited us was astonishingly deep. The web was littered with BETA screens of the game that depicted Bond in an elevator on the Silo level and also obtaining bungee equipment in Dam. What left us in the most awe was the constant updating of glitches that took place daily. I never told my friend, but I became very jealous of those posters. I had this deep yearning to be apart of this community of Goldeneye fans. But, becoming a part of the community raised a question, "how was I, a casual gamer, supposed to manipulate the game to find something that will capture the attention of thousands of online fans?". I was posed with the task of finding something big, and if I wanted to make a mark on a community, that has turned over every stone in the game in search of finding a new glitch or secret, I really need to employ some master detective skills.
Well, about three months had passed and I had begun to focus my efforts on obtaining 007 mode. I could not beat Bunker 2 on 00 agent because I kept losing throwing knives. Now around my five hundreth try, I stepped out of the cell and the gaurd spotted me. He began shooting and I quickly retreated into Natalya's cell for cover. I ducked down to get a leg up on the gaurds that would eventually rush in. Now when Natalya's cell is opened, she will immediatly run out. The important thing about this is, she will not move voluntarily until she is out of the cell. Well, here I am crouching in her run path, and she is attempting to run through me. I turn to face her (while crouched) and her run animation takes the breath completely out of me. She is perpetually stuck in this animation until I move, but what struck me is the animation it self. Bond's face was at the level of her waist and it was quite obvious that she was not trying to run. She was pelvicly thrusting in James Bond's face! She was using her arms, knees and even her privates! It floored me; and just then I realized that I had found my glitch that would grant me entry into one of the most deep, most die-hard gaming communities ever to grace the Information Super Highway.
Two weeks later I logged onto my favorite Goldeneye site and sure enough there was my name under the "New Finds" section. This was a monumental moment in my life. If it were not for this happening, I would not have the courage to post these journals on Gamespot. I really do believe that I was apart of something very important (and still am) and I would like to encourage everyone reading this to participate in the gaming community in anyway possible, whether it be through writing journals or posting in the forums of gaming websites. Just get out there and make the community even stronger.

Growing up in fear of Dr. Robotnik.
On December 25, 1992 my brother and me exchanged looks of excitement as my dad reached into the living room closet . He withdrew a brand new Sega Genesis with a copy of the original Sonic the Hedgehog. Now the following year is a little hazy, but what I do remember is my dad adapting to raising three children. Sure he signed us up for tee ball and all the other cliches but he also found time to play Sonic with us. I remember that there was key spots in the game that were major moments in my childhood development- Such as Marble Zone level 3- When deciding which route to take early on to finish the level fastest. ( When you start at ground level you are given the option of two ground routes) My dad always said the first opening was quicker, but I knew better and went with the second. Next there was Labrinth Zone level 3. The opening of this level is a Sonic staple- As sonic, the player is forced to navigate a slide of water and time his jumps to activate switches. I could never jump and time it correctly. I would press jump and all that would happen is sonic would make a halfassed bounce and my time would eventually run out. So I would sit there and watch TV and wait for my dad to get home from work so he could do it for me. I remember sitting in front of the TV for hours- and it was a real wierd situation too because I didn't have cable TV, so I was forced to watch Love Connection every time I would wait for him. I could have asked my mother who gets home early but what could she tell me (Other than little tid bits on Chuck Woolery). When he did beat the water slide for me I would have to ask him to beat Dr. Robotnik on the same level. Fans of this game know that it was particularly hard to actually make him explode on this level, but my dad could do it. He could always do it... though there was one thing that he couldn't do and that was actually beat the game. He always ran out of time on Scrap Brain level 3 because he didn't know about the short cut in the begining. So one night before bed I beat the game. I used the short cut and advanced to the final "Zone" and just stood in the corner and waited for Robotnik to come down on the piston nearest to me and let him have it. I told dad the good news the next morning and of course he didn't believe me. I spent all breakfast trying to convince him of this great acomplishment but he wouldn't budge. So he asked me if I could do it again and I replyed, "definitly". He bet me ten cents I couldn't do it again, and I just sat and thought, "I'm gonna rob this fool blind. His pockets aren't going to know what hit them." (I realize now that Ihe was just joking). So I sat in my room all night again and tried to beat it. I worked to get all Chaos Emeralds and as many lives as possible. At about 8 pm I had accomplished my feat. I rushed to get my dad so he could look at Dr. Robotnik crying to himself on his Game Over pedestal and I knew my dad would be doing the same thing when he forks over the ten big ones. As he reached into his pocket to pull out the dime, I knew I had finally started to develop into the gaming nerd I would eventually become.
