Hey people, after a long long time, its a blog from me (omgomgomg). I've been obsessed with Batman Arkham Asylum since the past few days and to describe it in one word : AWESOME. If you remotely like action/detective/platformers/stealth games, you should NOT miss this.Too lazy to write a full review, but here are my short thoughts on the game...

I play on the PC with maxed settings and the game looks simply awesome. The environments are dark yet colorful and realistic. Too bad we need to spend so much time in detective vision.

The story is the usual I-want-to-take-over-gotham-with-my-ingenious-plan-type but the progression is weaved nicely with the sidequests, the riddler's riddles in particular. Those are fun to figure out. Collecting trophies which are hidden in different locations is fun too. I was more worried about collecting trophies rather than saving the hostages at some points

The combat, according to me, is the best aspect of the game. There is a freeflow combat system which allows you to chain combos together. You can counter, flip-dodge and perform some takedowns without losing the flow, making the dark knight faster and more agile as the combos start to build up. Batman sure knows how to dance. Take a look at this challenge mode challenge to see what I mean...

Did I tell you the combat is awesome?

Long time no bloggy ^_^

This one is made especially for that game which has taken most of my time this month. 2Moons is a free to play MMORPG, developed by Akklaim. It has good graphics, gameplay and its a lot of fun.

Check out this video, showcasing some of the good stuff. The first half consists of the SIEGE BATTLES (some team fortress kind of multiplayer mode which I dont know about yet) and short clips of the playable character classes. Next half is taken from my own char

Its been a really long time. All of you must have given up waiting for the requests to be done and I apologize for that. Its funny how I manage to take in all the requests knowing that I might end up having you guys wait for an eternity.

For those STILL waiting for me to finish (though its highly likely that no one is...), let me know right now. I have a couple of days and I am willing to dedicate them to gamespot. All you have to do is just let me know that you're still waiting. I'll be happy to complete the pending requests as soon as.

In other news, I've been here on gamespot but I've got lots of responsibilities, mainly that of the Gamespot's Gamespace Banner Union. The leader has been away since a long time and I've been working hard to manage the union. That union is the only one where you can submit your own gamespace banners (and earn an emblem in the process) and have themup on the site Its a tough job but I'm not complaining. I like to work under pressure I guess. If you're interested, join and have fun.

Finally and most importantly, I'm thinking of permanently closing the RotM blogs, after this final one. If I cant do requests on time, I dont need to take requests. Haven't decided yet. Anyways, enough for now.

I used to be busy. A lot. But now I got a couple of weeks that can spend doing whatever I please. Its been a hectic 2007 for me so far. The assignments dont stop pouring in, some of the other small tests always show up. Anyways, be sure to fully utilize my BREAK WEEK. Get em while they're hot !

Wednesday, November 1 2006, 10 am. I was sitting in the comforts of my chair, working on Linux, as always. Working against the clock to submit numerous pending assignments, I couldn’t dare to go off track.

“…I decided to format the Linux partition in Windows. My biggest mistake.“

In case you don’t know, using Linux is part of my university courses. Most of C++ assignments are supposed to be compiled using UNIX. But I don’t use Linux just because I’m supposed to. No, I use it for a change, just to get away from Windows once in a while. I have a 250 GB HDD and I had a 50 GB partition dedicated to Linux. In case you still don’t know what Linux is…it’s a Unix-like operating system and its source code is available for anyone to use, modify, and redistribute freely. Out of the many Linux distributions I use Freespire. That’s right, there are over a hundred different distributions of Linux.

I soon realised a 50 GB partition was a bit too much since Linux does not use much.I needed to resize the partition. Being comfortable with using Paragon Partition Manager I decided to format the Linux partition in windows. My biggest mistake. Using PPM, I deleted the huge partition, formatted it (NTFS) and assumed I got rid of Linux forever….which I wanted. Next, I merged some of the space created with one of my other windows partitions and reserved a measly 20 GB to install Linux from scratch.

Unknown to me, the GRUB somehow was not uninstalled. GRUB is a Multiboot boot loader program. Briefly, boot loader is the first software program that runs when a computer starts. It is responsible for loading and transferring control to the operating system kernel software (such as Windows or Linux). The kernel, in turn, initializes the rest of the operating system. Prior to managing my partitions, GRUB used to boot Linux as default with Windows as the second choice. If I wanted to run windows, I had to select it at startup. However, now that GRUB was missing, or rather not uninstalled (or perhaps not installed correctly), I could neither boot Windows nor Linux. My PC just hanged at startup due to the missing GRUB files.

“I had to reformat the partition yet again. How would I do that when I cannot boot either operating system?”

Did I get around the problem? Yes and No. The only option I had was to reinstall Linux. Hopefully, GRUB would be back if I did that. Or so I thought. Things began getting worse. Remember I mentioned I formatted the Linux partition with NTFS file system? Well, Linux uses its own file system called Reiser4 and I had to reformat the partition yet again. How would I do that when I cannot boot either operating system? Luckily, I still had the copy of my Linux CD with me. To cut things short, I reformatted, installed Linux on the 20 GB space, crossed my fingers and rebooted….

"...I don’t hate Linux, I love it"

1 PM. GRUB was back! I saw the OS select screen and boy, was I relieved. So, here I am typing out my experience and hope those of you who use Linux (or plan to) don’t commit the same mistake ever again. Mind you, I don’t hate Linux, I love it. GRUB is what I hate. I don’t see any way to uninstall grub but I might find a way soon. Linux is an operating system that offers more customizability than windows. I can’t list all the features of Linux since different distributions have similar and unique features but one thing is for sure…Linux sure looks cool. Here is a screenshot (from Wikipedia).

For my final words, I would like to say, never ever play with partitions when you don’t have enough experience and/or knowledge. I hope this blog helps many.
