Borderlands is a wonderful game. I love it to pieces, and it's almost assuredly one of my top 10 games of the year. But there's something about it that's been bothering me for a while now. It's time I finally get this off my chest: The death animation is almost exactly the same as the old Ubisoft startup animation. I present unto you VIDEOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE. (I don't think I used that word right.) Anyways, check this out.

See? The similarity is pretty startling. What's up with that, Gearbox? I know you folks have played a Ubisoft-published game before. Hell, you've even made a few. The people demand answers!

IMO i dont think this is really a big deal.ive been knowing since i first started borderlands.but yea this is old to me XD
A. Yeah they are all based on a wormhole, that's why so many things use it, like Doctor Who, or Stargate....B. its a fairly easy yet neat looking effect to do with computer animation/video animation.
Nice catch! I didn't notice that one which is embarassing considering Ubisoft used to be one of my favorite developers.
@Elk i noticed that today when i was watching the Dr.Who xmas special on bbc 3.the time travel animation is almost identical as well
Looks like a blend of the Ubisoft intro and the old Asheron's Call portal animation. Wonder if there is a connection between the old Turbine staff and Ubisoft.
I think Elk's theory is a sound one. The makers of Borderlands will soon be erased from time.
