I'm going to keep this short. As per the title, I'm going for a Dragon Quest marathon! As crazy as that sounds, I won't be playing all of them. Inspiration drawing from the fairly recent annoucement of DQVII remake with DQVII being my first ever DQ game when I was a kid. Course I never finished it. With that I mean I won't replay the ones I've beaten or spin offs. So pretty much 1 - 9 except 4 as 4 is the only one I've beaten.

I figured I do this marathon eventually and how much grinding and tedious questing this will be but Dragon Quest has always striked me as an odd series. It's so simple and yet, it has a strange addictiveness and charm that you can't deny. It's such an old school game that hasn't changed in all its time but it's a formula well versed and well loved.

I will be playing pretty much the remake versions of all the games that have them. Hopefully I can finish this marathon to completion but you never know. I might go mad from grinding.

Anyways, wish me luck as I venture forth in beating the rest of these "dragons".

May the Force be with you Bryan. You know how I feel about the DQ games. Just the thought of having a marathon with that series makes me want to hang myself. XD

I have only played two of them (Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior I and Dragon Quest VII) but I liked them both. A slime draws near!

man, I never played any DQ. Heard they are grind-intensive.

@funsohng I say the same thing about all MMO's, but for some reason those are still popular @.@

Good luck, I thought about doing this myself but honestly once I got to Dragon Quest III I was already burned out. I've heard countless times  I quit before getting too the good ones but I just couldn't help it, I didn't fine myself enjoying them (which is a shame because all of the DS remakes, Dragon Quest VIII and IX look extremely appealing to me, I don't mean graphically either, they just seem like much more solid games) Anyway, I will be attempting this again eventually, perhaps with the remake of DQVII you mentioned (I didn't know that existed) I'm doing a similiar marathon right now of every Final Fantasy Game released in english... that includes every spin-off, so my challenge has turned into a 42 game marathon (with 12 out of the way so far.. and I'm on FFVI). Anyway, once again good luck! I'd love to hear your opinion on each of the games, maybe I'll find myself wanting to jump back in and give the dragon quest series another try!
