Super Mario Cake

I give you the Super Mario Bros. groom's cake that was made for my wedding. It was awesome (thanks Rachel!). Lemon cream cheese frosting, blackberry-almond filling, 70+ servings. All of it was edible except for the black disk.

storms, all night long
Hateful storm. Didn't sleep last night because every few seconds BOOM! FLASH! BOOM! FLASH! (there was a canine loss of bladder control somewhere in there). It started at 1, then stopped at 2, then started at three, and finally cleared up around 5. This is AM I'm talking about here. So I'm dead on my feet today, and this is bad because I have a lot to do before I go on my honeymoon. At least nobody else here got any sleep, since the storms (yes, the goddamned things come in pairs) engulfed all of Columbus. I did find out that I can "create" a computer out of my PS3. All I need is a laptop, mouse, flashdrive, and Linux. I've never used Linux before, but it sounds like I need to give it a shot. My laptop is on life-support, and I can't afford a new computer.

awesome wedding

My wedding was amazing. First of all, my wife looked stunning (with no less than 83 pins in her hair). Secondly, it was a blast. I had hoped that it would be at least a little fun, with some people dancing and a lot of socializing. I knew that it might be difficult with two different families coming together that are very different (west coast vs midwest). However, it turned into a full-on party, thanks in no small part to the Most Reverend Peter, my best man & his girlfriend, and my cousins. Words can barely describe the event, so I will be posting pictures, or a link thereto, as soon as I have them. Considering that there were 2 shutterbugs in attendence as well as our photographer, there should literally be thousands of pics. We were extremely fortunate regarding the weather, because there was a 50% chance of rain, and it was sunny and gorgeous all through the ceremony. The rain did come once the reception started, dumping down in the traditional Ohio fashion, but didn't last for even 2 hours before it cleared up again. I figure the storm was targeted at our not-so-ordained officiant. Beforehand, there was an excellent rehearsal dinner accompanied by the kewlest Super Mario cake. That picture, coming soon, will surely be appreciated here. The night before, the grooms party enjoyed pool, drinking games, cigars, and a hot tub. Amazingly, I detoxified in time for the wedding proper.

And I just received my batching results, so back to work for now.

golden fury
Yikes, my wedding is Saturday. This week is going to be full-on panic mode. I managed to do something astounding, even to me, this weekend. I set up Shivering Isles for Oblivion on my PS3, and I successfully resisted the urge to play it. It's ready to go, but I held firm and continued with Okami. I must say that I'm very impressed with the latter. Beyond the gorgeous graphics, it is a really fun game. Any game where you can pee on your enemies AND receive highly-desired items for doing so is excellent. Also, what at first seems to be a short but fun gaming experience turns into something much larger. I've put 26 hours into it so far and have at least another 10 to go. I would love to see a sequel, but I know that won't happen.

it's always something
my water heater is leaking, and it's the tank itself so a replacement is required. On top of that, my car stereo is acting up. The rear-passenger speaker makes a popping noise at random, and replacing the speakers and wiring didn't do it. I might have to take the receiver itself out of the dash, but that will be time and labor intensive. And there goes my gaming money for this month. At this point, I only get "money" enough for new games through my credit card rewards program. Also, I made a horrible, horrible discovery yesterday: Shivering isles is sold separately for the PS3. I mistakenly thought it was only available bundled with Oblivion: GOTY edition. The game that nigh-destroyed my life has sounded its beautiful siren song, and I must obey. Help.
