Movie Reviewed: The Orphanage

A lot of people make the mistake thinking that Del Toro directed the movie, which he didn't, he only produced. They slapt his name all over the previews so the movie would sell.Which it worked for me to go buy the movie because I am a big fan of his other work. Its also in spanish, and in a lot of scenes there is very little to no dialog which builds up the suspense in the movie.I swear to god, this is probably the only movie that has made me jump in shock twice in a five minute time span.Okay,so maybe when I went out and saw Gore Verbinski's blockbuster hit The Ring i was jumping out of my seat and when ever that creepy little girl came on the screen
.
To go back on topic, the acting is fantastic.Bellen Rueda delivers a mesmerising frantic performance as Laura and it is easy to get attached to her character as she goes around her home looking for her lost son.Is it scary?Yes,once everything starts to unfold in the last hour or so of the movie it is very intense, more than other movies of the genre. That alone should make it worth watching.
The only problem i had with it is that there are some plot holes in the movie that were never explained, but i won't go into detail about those,i don't want to spoil it.

Movie Review:Black Snake Moan

I thought it was a surprisingly good movie, thanks to some strong acting by Samual L Jackson. The film is about a prostitute/drug addict that Jackson finds nearly dead on the side of the road,he takes her in,heals her body and then he heals her soul.In the end she turns out to be a decent person, its really inspiring as it reminds me of a friend that has similar problems with drugs that she did.

"can we just lay down and forget the world?"
There is a song I have been listening to called Chasing Cars, its really depressing and I actually hate the song,I hear it every day at work so I have no choice but to hear it every now and then.Although, there is one part I like in the song when he says "Can we just lay down and forget the world?".I honestly want to do that, but I can't ,I don't know if anyone can.Ever since my best friend died a couple of months ago I have tried, but failed.I wonder if the guy who wrote the song is having that problem also,at least the song can relate to something thats happening to me.- Posted May 12, 2007 10:14 am GMT
