GTAIV PC (lowercase words added for submission)

I just finished the game on PC after finally giving in and playing through all of the problems. It was awesome. It was probably awesome X10 on the consoles though.

Even after the patch I had to suffer through hourly crashes, Independence FM not working properly and just random sh*t. If it wasn't one of the best games ever I would have just given up. I don't understand how this game was released with this many problems, and I don't know why there hasn't been a REAL patch (the first one did next to nothing) to fix all of these problems. The PC gets the shaft once again. This reminds me of the Mass Effect port, which also crashed hourly.

Thank God (not literally, just the figure of speech) for Mirror's Edge, at least that was ported properly. And Dead Space. EA rules.

    For XTRA awesomeness: EA GAMES

I just wanted to say that EA has been treating gamers very well over the past year or so. I noticed that with Crysis: Warhead, you didn't need the disc in the drive to play, and the same goes for Mirror's Edge. I ran out of activations for Warhead, and after emailing them, within 2 hours I had another activation. They are really stepping it up and I am extremely pleased with what they are doing. Taking risks with Mirror's Edge and Dead Space really paid off as well!

    Mirror's Edge Performance

So everyone is wondering about the performance of Mirror's Edge. Well, there is good news and bad news. I have an 8800gts 640MB, an E6850 3.0ghz dual core and 2 gigs of Corsair XMS 2 DDR 800. The game runs amazingly well at 1440 X 900 with 16x anti-aliasing and all other settings maxed. I am getting between 40 and 60 FPS. So that was the good news. The bad news is that they weren't lying in the manual when they said you needed a 9800gtx to experience Physx. With the settings maxed at the same resolution and no AA, if I turn physx on, the game slows to a crawl, approx 4-7 FPS. Yes it's THAT bad. It's only when the crazy stuff is happening, like windows shattering and stuff. The other things, like the added flags and things that sway in the breeze are fine. No graphical slowdown. It also seems that AA has no affect on how well it's going to perform. I had 16x AA on, and it ran at the same FPS as when it was off. For now, I don't want to sacrifice other visual settings to run physx, because it's not that big of a deal-the game looks fantastic without it. Anyway, that's my experience.
